Suprised we haven't gone in for Semedo he offers great competition for Valencia.
We're losing our options: Semedo, Aurier… Hope Valencia manages to stay on top for a few years more.

There are other priorities. Valencia is a sure starter.
I quite like him tbh, wouldn't mind us nabbing him.
DM and winger are priority but it would of been a relatively easy deal to complete considering we've been linked for a while and have a good relationship with his club. If Valencia gets injured we have no cover bar sticking players in there out of there natural positions.

More of a wide forward really, rarely plays down the middle. Capable of brilliance but far too inconsistent to play for anyone higher than mid-table.

Eric Dier is a light weight midfielder. We are better than putting a dud like him in our midfield. He was the sole reason Spurs were eliminated from the champions league last season.
£50m for that sack of shit? Jose and Woodward must be high on some cheap Nigerian weed. Jose was waxing lyrical about how he tried signing Kante last season and yet a younger version of Kante known as Naby Keita is wasting away in Bundesliga and Jose isn't even looking in his direction.
What the hell is wrong with our scouting team. Keita = Kante + Pogba rolled together. He can play anywhere in the central midfield. Rather than fork out £50m for a wastepipe like Eric Dier, why not pay RBL's asking price of £70m and get a versatile midfielder for another 10 years.

Reading that article it seems that the list of targets given to Woodward included:
Griezmann (Obvious 1st choice)
Willian (Not much chance of dealing with Chelsea)
Peresic
Now it seems people are working on the assumption of 4 targets for each role we wanted to fill but if we only had 3 for our 'second line of attack' then maybe that is why we are being held to ransom by Inter and don't look like moving on from it.
Stats don't quite work though when the players are playing in different positions and tasked with different roles.
Herrera was pressing all over the pitch last season, whilst Dier was either sat in front of the back 4 or playing cb.
Take the names away and just have the roles and which would you expect to lead in both the areas you mentioned?
Tasked with laying DM I'd trust Dier more than Herrera, tasked with playing B2B I'd trust Herrera more than Dier.
Signing Keita from RB Leipzig would still leave us lacking a DM if we're going 433 or with no excellent 10 for a 4231. In other words he solves none of our issues.
jesus christPerhaps you're right Keita would leave us with a problem at #6, but I actually think an attacking #8 is more in need if we are really going to play in an attacking 4-3-3, not a defensive one like last season. Regarding the excellence of our #10 in 4-2-3-1, I think it's fair to give Mkhitaryan a second chance.

Cos Dier doesn't run around like a headless chicken impressing OPTA zombies. If that's the DM you want he's already at the club.

Our issue is we are forced to play either Fellaini or Carrick in that role and whilst Keita is neither a DM or a No.10 he is a very good player and would fit in just fine with Pogba and Herrera in our midfield.
Having said that it would appear if Mourinho was willing to buy a CM from outside of the premier league he would of already concluded a deal for Fabinho and his unwillingness to do that says he is probably after a premier league proven midfielder.
