Even if we go with that formation that only underlines my point. Either there is no position for him due to the formation or he is not good enough to be in that position if we had a formation that required it...
So, you only need dead certain starters in a team? Players don't have to fight for their positions? Herrera suits every kind of game and will never get injured or suspended? Etc., etc., etc...

We offer £50m straight out for Deir and they would reject knowing we could go more even if we valued him at £50m. If we bid substantially lower, say £25m then we work our way upto the £50m we believe is fair and they come around to agreeing at that price point while thinking they have forced us up.

Or they do a Madrid or Inter (as they have with the Morata and Perisic deals respectively) and reject everything we bid until we reach what they initially wanted. Either way, given that the article is by Delaney and in the Independent, it's probably safe to say that we haven't bid £25m for Dier. If the other reports that were released last night were to be believed, we had a £40m bid rejected.

Why not just sign N'Zonzi then? He's had PL experience and is available. Alright he isn't exactly young, but he's more achievable than Dier.

My preferred choice is Oriol Romeu. He's better and will be cheaper. Why is Jose not keen or did I miss any news indicating he has moved?

Jose worked with Romeu at Chelsea I believe. Probably just doesn't rate him enough.

N'Zonzi is a great call though, I'd take him for the DM role in a heartbeat.

He didn't rate Mata and Lukaku highly too but I'm with you. N'zonzi is a decent option.

This saddens me a lot. Had loads of hopes for him :(

Maybe he just manages to become a Griezmann there.

Doubt it, I really never rated him.

With Aubameyang though, how can an established 30 goal a season striker, second behind Messi for goals last year, be not wanted for 70m eur?!

I think there were a couple of Dortmund posters saying he wants 500k a week. That more or less prices him out of most clubs.

He's fallen out with/been fired from two clubs with more or less dictator like president/owner. With the two other clubs he did fine, won the CL and left on good terms.

So which clubs are we more like, Real and Chelsea or Porto and Inter?

I don't think you'll change his mind, mate.
Rugby teams? He signed:
Mkhitaryan - Very good technically
Pogba - One of the best in the world
Ibra - Same
Bailly - His technique is more than enough for a CB. His composure and the way he bring the ball from the back is very good.

This season we signedL
Lindelof - Haven't watched him but apparently very good on the ball
Lukaku - Not the most technically gifted player but far from the lump people think he is.

Where is this "rugby" thing coming from?

So manager leaves after 3 years means we shouldn't buy players he wants? What a weird logic.

I don't think anyone is going to change his mind. He's all over the place ripping Jose.

Massive wage demands + I think he relies overly on his speed and clubs might not want to risk him slowing down and losing his most dangerous attribute. He performs fantastically in a specific system at Dortmund but I have doubts if he could replicate it when asked to adapt to another. Still a fantastic goalscorer though

Pretty sure it will turn out similar to DDG saga, with City launching the bid late which will get rejected and Alexis goes and signs an extension after the window
