Perhaps you're right Keita would leave us with a problem at #6, but I actually think an attacking #8 is more in need if we are really going to play in an attacking 4-3-3, not a defensive one like last season. Regarding the excellence of our #10 in 4-2-3-1, I think it's fair to give Mkhitaryan a second chance.

Mourinho Ioves a proper defensive midfielder though and Herrera doesn't offer everything he wants from there. He's not strong or big enough in that role for him so he won't play there. Also Mhki will play on the right like he did last season. If he doesn't then we'd need a RW that works as hard as him.

Our issue is we are forced to play either Fellaini or Carrick in that role and whilst Keita is neither a DM or a No.10 he is a very good player and would fit in just fine with Pogba and Herrera in our midfield.

Having said that it would appear if Mourinho was willing to buy a CM from outside of the premier league he would of already concluded a deal for Fabinho and his unwillingness to do that says he is probably after a premier league proven midfielder.

For most of us yes he would fit in nicely, for Mourinho he wouldn't as I explained above.

Glad we are not involved.

Seriously?! I would LOVE it if we were involved. The one thing that we could offer a player of the stature of Sanchez (or James Rodriguez althugh obvs that ship has sailed) is being the main creative focal point. At City Sanchez will just be one of a million diminutive forwards.

The Bilbao players wore them while doing their medical checkups as well. Maybe it is a Spanish thing, or a Basque thing.

There's a joke in there about fishnets and basques but I can't find it...

What the hell is wrong with our scouting team. Keita = Kante + Pogba rolled together. He can play anywhere in the central midfield. Rather than fork out £50m for a wastepipe like Eric Dier, why not pay RBL's asking price of £70m and get a versatile midfielder for another 10 years.

 am so using this from now on...

I know Mourinho loves them, and Herrera has a height problem, besides other things. But our problems were indeed more offensive than defensive last year, so maybe we should be improving the attacking capacity of our midfield, with someone like Nainggolan. Why do fans also want a more defensive 4-3-3, feeding Mourinho's already immense cautiousness, is what I don't understand. Also, Mkhitaryan played everywhere last season, not sure he's got a spot taken.

He'd of been perfect for us can play both LW and RW and is a traditional winger, bet they got him for pennies too.

Yeah, bar Higuain they seem to always pay very reasonable prices

Madrid still going for DDG? Yeah sure.

Woody would instantly demand £100m for them acting the pricks with Morata.

If we get the mooted targets and De Gea leaves as well as Ibra gone you could easily make the argument we've actually regressed in this window while spending a lot of money

Stats don't quite work though when the players are playing in different positions and tasked with different roles.

Herrera was pressing all over the pitch last season, whilst Dier was either sat in front of the back 4 or playing cb.

Take the names away and just have the roles and which would you expect to lead in both the areas you mentioned?

Tasked with laying DM I'd trust Dier more than Herrera, tasked with playing B2B I'd trust Herrera more than Dier.

Signing Keita from RB Leipzig would still leave us lacking a DM if we're going 433 or with no excellent 10 for a 4231. In other words he solves none of our issues.

Keita? what now?

After what happened in Morata deal, no chance we'll let him leave for them for any cheap price any soon.

I don't trust this guy anyway.

Yup. Also, we're not letting de Gea leave this late. We've started our pre-season ffs.

This guy is just talks a lot of B.S..

Even Fiorentino Perez himself said that they are not signing DDG and its not the man to stay quiet about interest in another team's player.

I know who to believe between Perez and this charlatan.

This is the official statement:
http://www.juventus.com/media/native/investor-relations-docs/english/price-sensitive-press-releases/2017-2018/comunicato 12072017 douglas costa eng.pdf

On loan for € 6 mln + option right (not obligation to buy) for the definitive acquisition at a price of € 40 mln.

it's not a bargain, € 46 mln, but at least they are not obliged to sign him definitely

Even Fiorentino Perez himself said that they are not signing DDG and its not the style of man to stay quiet about interest in another team's player.

Not saying I believe the guy, but he's saying United think that Real Madrid still want DDG. It has nothing to do with what Real Madrid have said publicly.

Also if Madrid is going really for Mbappe I can't see them doing 2 transfers in the same marker of that sum of money.

I think he's just guessing and has no clue.

I dont think the DDG bit is accurate unless a big name is involved.
I could see it happening only if we're still interested in one of their players. Bale or Ronaldo are only two left we could honestly use that could realistically leave.
