How the feck did Bayern get such a sweet deal like this??
Because he is on a massive contract with Real and they must be happy to get him off the wage bill, BM will no doubt have to pick up the wages which will obviously bump up the yearly price considerably, but still a good deal for them. Must have been no interest elsewhere despite being touted for pretty much every club in the last 2 years.

Or Mendes does . Anyways, i'd say let's wait for the official numbers to come out from bayern

Madrid news outlets are talking about an obligation to buy for €60M

To buy for 60 m euros with 1 year deal left on his contract? When 45 m needed to break even now?

And would james agree to a 5 m euros salary?

Where did you read that? Even in official Madrid statement they mentioned option to buy.

Edit: Looks like translation issue, in English site it says Bayern Munich reserves the right to purchase the player at the end of the loan period.
Yeah, seems it's an option.

Though in reality, it's an obligation. Deal only makes sense if bayern guaranteed to buy him

If he didn't make it at Bayern, why would we want him?

Vieira didn't make it at Milan at a similar young age. Not trying to imply Sanches has similar potential but sometimes a move to a different club with a manager who believes in them can get more from the same player.

I disagree our football was far too one dimensional and predictable last season. Obviously the fact our strikers were anything but efficient didn't help either but I really believe our problems are far bigger than just getting a new striker and hoping that will solve everything. I was hoping for one of Bernardo, Griezmann or James to fill in that void we have in the team but they are now all crossed off from the board.

I don't fancy Mkhitaryan, Mata and Pogba to be enough in terms of creativity. I fancy Pogba in a deeper role not as a 10 in a 3-man midfield and Mkhi and Mata are good to play from the right side but we seriously needed somebody to take over that n10 position and that is not going to happen now.

If we play 4-3-3 we wont need a #10 as such, as the midfield of Pogba and Herrera will come from deep and the wide forwards/winders will supply the central striker.

If we did go 4-2-3-1, then mata or miki are good enough in the #10 role, miki especially would flourish there given a run of games.

Losing out on James is no major loss to us really our priority has to be midfield as we need a DM and some additional quality to compete/rotate with Herrera/Pogba

If I was a betting man, I would wager a large sum of money that Jose didn't want James near our club.

Last thing we need is a number 10.

I'd have liked James but I do think a CDM is much more needed than a #10.
We have Pogba who can be released to play higher up the pitch along with Mata and Mhki.
Just wish we was in for Fabinho :(

I think the 5mil is the loan fee..in addition to his salary.

I think we paid something similar to Monaco when Falcao was here.
Well then that puts a different complexion on the "how fecking brilliant are Bayern at getting cheap deals" doesn't it?

At £120k pw his wages will be around €7m per annum on top of the €5m - so €24m for 2 years and then Real get back an improved player (option to buy withstanding) … hot stuff!

If I've got it right – I'm sure someone will point out any errors in that lot!

It really was.
No it wasn't, Zlatan alone missed a total of 18 chances last season, then include the rest if our attacking players..... We created plenty, dominated teams plenty but we just couldn't get the goals to knock the stuffing out of teams we made life for ourselves difficult. What games were you watching?

That's what happens when we flash the cash and seemingly pay up for whatever anyone is asking for. We can afford it, and they know it.

But some of our fans want us to flash the cash just because we are a rich club. If we had tried to sign James, Real would have asked 60 to 80m.

Imo our current wingers, fullbacks and midfielders bar Pogba don't provide enough football ability to play in a 4-3-3. Atleast not when you want to start playing more dominant attacking football which imo should be our aim.

120k is like minimum wage in the PL. Madrid don't pay crazy money unless it's for Ronaldo.

It's a shame Oxlade Chamberlain isn't more capable of playing on the left. Apart from the injuries he's a really good player

According to Marca is a 2 years loan and Bayern must pay 60 m€ within 2 years.
Not bad deal after all

That's a great deal for Bayern for James - almost no risk but lots of upside potential - how do they do it??

Aren't Marca the paper that bum-lick your club though and twist everything to make you lot look great? They did a good photshop of a stadium once remember?

So it will be 70 million if they buy him. That's not really cheap, however with the way prices are rising it might actually be in 2 years.

I think people only remember the last 4 weeks of the season and write players off after 1 average season.

Yes,they are but once it's official I guess that they won't be able to hide the truth.
At the end nobody wanted James but the 35m€ of the other tweet looks too cheap.
Edit: AS writes 35 too :(

It won't be a good deal if he flops. There are no guarantees. If he does flop and Bayern have to pay out a mandatory 60m EUR they will look like clowns.

If Bayern have the option to pay £30m after the 2 year loan deal, they can surely then renegotiate with Madrid about the fee, as even if Madrid take the option of extending James' contract by a further year, he'll only have 1 year left on his contract at that point. Surely Madrid aren't that stupid to accepting such a poor deal on their part.

Spanish Media trying to make Madrid look good.

German media trying to make Bayern look good.

Massive difference between 60mil and 35.2 mil.

If its 70 mil euros(as Marca claim), then that isnt a good deal for Bayern at all. Madrid will have broken even for a player that hasnt done much at the club.

Quality of those chances also wasn't always perfect.

And if we are going to use largely the same set of players with Lukaku instead of Zlatan don't you think we are going to be running into the same kind of problem as we had last season ? This goalscoring problem isn't going to go away by just praying that Martial and Mkhitaryan need to start playing better.

So far we have just replaced Zlatan with Lukaku and improved our backline with Lindelöf. I don't see how that solves our biggest problem from last season, even if Lukaku does alot better than Zlatan and bangs in 5 or 10 goals more (and that is a big if) it still isn't enough, we need to start scoring goals from other positions aswell and I don't see that happening with out current group of players because we lack too much creativity on that midfield an too much quality from our wingers.

they HAD a good youth academy. They haven't even produced Lingard type of players since Alaba and Müller broke through.

That's a strange statement. Alaba is only a few months older than Lingard anyway.

You can have a good academy but it can be a case of the local talent simply not being good enough in this generation.

The Clairefontaine academy had a drought of 10 years in producing good players after that golden generation with Zizou, Henry etc. Does that make it a bad academy? No, It started producing again now talents like Mbappe. La Masia is going through a drought at the moment too. Is that also a bad academy?

Exactly this. You summarized everything.

All this talk of Chelsea signing Morata or Belloti ask yourself this what does 31 january 2011 mean ?

Yes it's the last time they have paid over £35m for a player

My guess it's another reason for the hold up of the bakayoko deal Monaco want £40m and Chelsea's limit is £35m

The have to be self-suffiicient now and with a new stadium to pay for it's going to be interesting to see
if they really will pay the £70m mentioned for Morata.

But some of our fans want us to flash the cash just because we are a rich club. If we had tried to sign James, Real would have asked 60 to 80m.
I'm not complaining by any means, but you can understand why clubs are asking us to fork out more when they know we have the money.

Is someone on here manipulating the transfer market.:lol:

Big bet placed on Sanchez to United
You could get odds of 50/1 on Sanchez joining United earlier today but a publicity-hungry bookmaker received the bet from a Manchester address and then decided to hold meetings soon after. Yes, the transfer window sparks ‘meetings’ at bookmakers.

Sanchez to United has now been slashed to 12/1.

They will if they want to keep Conte.
