Morata is considering not to move from Real Madrid anymore, according to tomorrow Marca edition

I don't think I saw this posted, it's from last night so it should be in today's edition. It would be absolutely hilarious if Chelsea fail to get Morata as well.

Translation: nobody is paying that sort of money for Morata and this is the only face-saving climbdown

That option to buy makes no sense from Real unless there's a gentlemen's agreement and the 2 year loan is just a way to help in accounting terms.
Thats is almost certainly the case

All this talk of Chelsea signing Morata or Belloti ask yourself this what does 31 january 2011 mean ?

Yes it's the last time they have paid over £35m for a player

My guess it's another reason for the hold up of the bakayoko deal Monaco want £40m and Chelsea's limit is £35m

The have to be self-suffiicient now and with a new stadium to pay for it's going to be interesting to see
if they really will pay the £70m mentioned for Morata.
Didn't they match our offer for Lukaku though?

Don't get me wrong, me too. But he has to improve a lot. And I don't really want us to play counter attack constantly.
Against teams that want to dominate possession we won't have much choice but to counter when they lose possession it helps that we have players that are incredibly fast like Martial, Mkhitaryan and Rashford plus Lukaku is much faster than Zlatan that will only help further.

Depends what style of play Mourinho takes now he knows his players inside out.

When will people wake up to the reality that Perez has serious axe to grind when it comes to United? Won't be surprised if Chelsea get Morata for less than Madrid was asking us to pay.

More fast transitions than a pure counter attack team that sit back like Leicester.

Don't know about that, he's still a top player. I get hes on a big wage and they want to offload him. But surely someone would be willing to pay more than 35-45m euros for a talent like James who's still only 25-26.

It seems Bayern would ultimately spend anything between 45M and 70M (depending on who you trust), let's say 60M. The difference is Bayern transfer the gamble to Real: "yes, I'll take the wages off your books but won't take the risk of him sulking here as well". Real know him better so better placed to assess that, they also need him off... Bayern has no reason or incentive to go balls out and pay 60M outright when they aren't the ones with a problem. Same logic Real applied to us: "we are happy to keep Morata and to spend all Summer discussing a fee". It's Bayern in a position of strength, not Madrid.

Yeah you're probably not that far off the truth mate. After all Real did agree to the deal, so it must have made sense to them.

So you are saying if the player did a u-turn and accepted Chelsea's offer, they would have retracted?
No but Chelsea thought they could match United then peddle the story of big bad United paying more money to Mino vs Dream reunion to Saint Chelsea and Lukaku didn't buy it, probably pissed Mino and Lukaku off even more.

Yep. Also think either there was no market for him or the player really pushed for bayern

At the end of the day, i'm sure bayern already agreed to buy him in 2019(otherwise the deal makes no sense. James isn't even on big wages). So this was probably the best we could get. The way it's structured is an accounting trick to help both clubs as in this way, player will be cheaper for bayern, while netting a bigger profit for us

Great.

Chelsea's stupid decision to banish Diego Costa before finding a replacement is looking more stupid by the day.

Thanks, that is all I needed to know. That is the point I was proving in the post that was pulled up.
Chelsea would of loved to of said United tried to steal Lukaku but he chose us in the end, we knew he would, blah, blah, blah etc

Luckily agent P had it covered :D

Is this true?

Bayern wants to buy Martial for 43 - 48 million, an exchange with Sanches seems possible to push the price.

Would hate that.

I don't care about that though. My point was they offered that amount of money and they would have bought if player said yes. The poster I originally quoted on this said they may be reluctant to spend over 35m.

He is saying that they knew the player would not do a U-turn. That the transfer was done and dusted.
So hypothetically then, let us say that offer turned his head and made him want Chelsea. What would you say Chelsea would do? Pull out, or go through with the deal?

Sure we could sell Martial to Bayern in an exchange deal. Let's start with Muller, Kimmich and Alaba.

Never really wanted Rodriquez at United, but 70% of that was because of the price.

Yet again though, theres one price for us and one for everyone else. Bayern are reportedly getting him on a 2 year loan then an option, which is their choice, for £38m. In todays market, thats a bargain and worth the risk.

Spanish Media trying to make Madrid look good.

German media trying to make Bayern look good.

Massive difference between 60mil and 35.2 mil.

If its 70 mil euros(as Marca claim), then that isnt a good deal for Bayern at all. Madrid will have broken even for a player that hasnt done much at the club.

The 60M is most likely Marca accounting.

If Real buy it's just for the fee. If they sell or Barca buys it's the fee+add-ons+wages presented as the value of the deal.

5M loan x2
+
35.2M
=45.2M

Now add James' 120K/week for 2 years, convert to Euros...

What do you get? The obligatory fee of 60M.

I think the board are reluctant to spend huge sums on players especially when they could of really kept Costa and invested elsewhere but if it means keeping Conte with no relaistic manager alternative they will do whatever he asks.
