Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

I guess now that United has FINALLY bought a player from Benfica, they have found someone else to play with. 50M, wow.
If we're buying a squad player from Real Madrid for 80, why can't Benfica ask 50 for a squad player of their own?

That's just one unique instance, and for a player with enormous talents and ability which the midfeild desperately needed after scholes and giggs retirement.

No it isn't. It's a player who we overpaid for.

You can argue morata is a unique instance, where it's an obvious first choice, griezmann fell threw and we desperately needed to replace Zlatan. A "unique circumstance" spin could be put on anything. Doesn't change the fact that we overpay. I even thought Di Maria was overpaid too. 1 good season imo at Real amongst a few average ones and we throw 60m GBP. Shaw for 30m GBP too, when he was 18. We do this constantly and set a precedent. Inter and Real know they can negotiate till the end of the line with us because inevitably, we will pay the asking price just like we did with the others in the named examples.

So it is all so certain that Jose 'leaked'? Just because Duncan wrote the article?

This is what I am trying to say. Everyone took this as a 100% leak from Jose without questioning the article just because it's Castles.

To save you clicking..
  • Didn't want to leave mainly due to the transfer ban and would've felt dirty moving due to the circumstances
  • Didn't want to talk about next summer as he's focusing on his season with Athletico M and next summer is too far away
  • Didn't phone Mourinho as reported to tell him he was was at Atheltico M
  • Loves Simeone
  • Wants to be the best footballer in the world and win trophies

I think he would've discussed the transfer budget with Ed and the owners before choosing the payers he wanted.

Basic budget discussions were held I'm sure, but Mourinho doesn't strike me as the type of guy who'll give in on a specific target of his over 10 million euros or so.

Oh, good one then. Fully with you on that.

So Captain Obvious is an ESPN source.

And rightly so.

But, Jimenez is so average, maybe poor according to the stats compared to Morata. Not being able to hack it in UCL and La Liga, and have poorer stats compared to Morata at similar age. Based on stats alone, Morata is showing improvement each year, and last year's was significant as his minutes/goals ratio shows and being able to perform at a young age for two of Europe's biggest clubs. Not to mention leading the line for Spain. Potential is there, mentality is there, so of course Morata would demand higher transfer fees. Just don't see anything special with Jimenez. Even for a club like Everton.

Nothing to do with loyalty. He's fecked us around.
Atletico fecked him around, put him in a position where he would be the bad guy if he left them in the lurch. Would imagine that there is an agreement that he will be allowed to join United next season if they come calling.

It's more than 10 million if you consider what Inter and Real are asking.

And then, why would Mourinho leak it to the press when knowing that the club is not eager to spend these amounts and by doing this he basically gives Real and Inter more bargaining power?

That was his price because of the juventus deal with riola. Anybody who signed him would have to pay the same amount so why solely blame united for overpaying in that deal. Even that record will soon be broken with mbappe or dybala. Even psg wants 100 m for veratti.

We got the money back for di maria, who was bought as a desperation to 2013 summer buisness and woodwards desperation to make a statement ,While shaw being 18 yet 67 games into his epl career and his entire age in front of him to develop while being english just like a ferdinand transfer, Look at sandro or VVD fee now.

We are already overpaying for morata with 70 m offer who has lower numbers that lacazette and unrpoven. If a club demands unrelaistic overblown overrated price for the quality of the player that does not mean they will get it.

Only performance related addones should include an extra 10 m if so. Like title and Scoring and x amount of goals.

Not by the people that matter.
If, and it's a big if, the story is true and Jose is badmouthing Woody to his mates in the press and Woody goes out and spends over the odds to shut him up.

You better believe he needs to win something next year to still be here this time next year.

I don't think it's true but Woody is his boss and you don't embarrass your boss unless you make it worth their while to forget it.

And also you dont read too much into overblown stories with added spices.

He wants to portray the club as the ones not capable of delivering him the players he wants. Thus, in the case we don't succeed next year, he'll have an excuse for his failure and will be able to save his reputation. Also, he desperately wants to win right now, something I'm generally behind, but he has no reason to care about the mid-term/long-term consequences of excessive spending.

There could be understanding between all 3 parties with the transfer ban of griezmann, where he does not increase the release clause, we go for a no 9 which we lost after zlatan injury and griezmann getting a pay rise and get to stay for another year as loyalty and leave on good terms while also keeping good relations with atletico for united's case as atletico would also loose lacazette opportunity this summer with arsenal.

Not the case at all, He knows we will get the player anyways at the end, We go to preseason at the weekend and if we go there with new players it helps in preseason preprations which are very important which was screwed last year because of the weather so we were indeed unprepared with fitness of many players including pogba who dint start his best.

Papers add spices to their story.

This might sound crazy but I really wouldn't mind us walking away from the Morata deal just to piss Real Madrid off. :annoyed:
