Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

They'd sell for 20m I think. Vardy or King from Bournemouth might be the best value this summer.
I was replying to that poster's comment about buying players like Vardy so that it would weaken Real's stance and strengthen United's instead. I don't think that is a smart strategy, if the intention is simply to get Morata at cheaper fee. Let's just say, assuming Vardy would come to United for 20M, and Morata at its cheapest rumoured fee at 60M (or Ed's evaluation, whichever, besides the point), that would be a total 80M, excluding wages. Cheaper? I don't think so.

Not to mention robbing Rashford's playing time, or Martial's for that matter depending on where one or the other would play. Rashford and Vardy is pretty similar player in which both strength is using pace to stretch the defensive line. Someone is going to be one unhappy camper (bencher), and that could lead to unrest. It happened before with RvP, Rooney and Chica.

These are all just mainly theories of course, but I don't think that's smart kind of dealings. United are in current predicament is not because of Ed or Mourinho alone. It happened way before that but that's another story/theory.

I think it's pretty widely accepted we DID bid for Fabinho, but it was rejected as they wanted more.

Is it? I thought we had finally come to point of accepance that United had made it very clear that they dont want him and that its all leaks from juve and foreign papers?

That was only because of the Matic rumours, but then they've gone nowhere either.

Then people thought PSG were going to sign him, but they've subsequently not signed Pepe and also resigned Thiago Motta for another year.

I think there could still be legs in this yet, but the slowness is making people stir crazy.

Well the fact that United repeatedly briefed the entire UK press that they aren't interested in Fabinho also played a part, but I suppose they could still change their minds.

Chelsea haven't signed Bakayoko yet, suspect that is the season the Matic thing has stalled

Do you honestly think that we will do anything in the Champions league or even remotely challenge for the title if we signed Vardy or King?

Either of those would be an absolutely abysmal signing

They denied interest, they didn't exactly say NO WAY NEVER.

That's it, United need to grow smarter out there, you would also get leverage against power sellers... Madrid would be desperate to offload Morata for £45m at the end of August if you get Vardy today for £25m+Young or similar. Same Inter for Perisic, if you get a winger like Oxlade for peanuts.

So, we buy Vardy for 25 + Young (say 30 Mn total?) and then spend 45 Mn on Morata (because somehow Madrid will be desperate to sell a player they don't want to sell at all). That makes it, 75 Mn + having two strikers instead of one and a much higher wage bill. All this to avoid paying 75 Mn for Morata (and just his wages). I've heard of cutting the nose to spite the face, but surely this is taking it to a ridiculous extreme?

For the nth time, Madrid don't want to sell Morata. He's agitating for a move in order to get more time, but Madrid absolutely don't want or need to sell. This position won't change come August (or Come September; sorry, couldn't resist) so I don't see what exactly you're after with your argument above.

Same holds for Perisic by the bye. Inter don't want to sell him - it's we and Perisic who want the move to go through. Buying someone else does nothing but inflate our costs all around.

Imagine you signed either(for no less than £30M, let's not kid ourselves. £40 in vardy's case)

Ed: i want Morata and i am willing to pay £60M for him
Flo: i want £80
Ed: that is too much
Flo: ok then, good luck

Woody goes and signs Vardy

Ed: i want Morata and i am willing to pay £60M for him. As you know, we just signed Vardy so we're not desperate anymore!
Flo: cool. £100M
Ed: but we're not desperate anymore! We've got vardy!
Flo: good for you. You paid £40M for him?
Ed: yes indeed, so you see, we're not desp-
Flo: we want £110M for Morata, take it or leave it
Ed: ...

YEah as if Leicester will bow down to United and just sell Vardy cheaply. Their arguably best player. At least one of their key players that have won the league more recently. I have no doubt it would be cheaper than 80M but would be it be considered cheap? I dont think so.
We need 2 strikers in any case.

In the right team I can see both hitting 30 goals next year.

You need to pursue alternative players and make power sellers believe you are not going to buy your main targets, so that they will be more accommodating. Come on, it is not rocket science, Marotta is pursuing Danilo, Aurier, Darmian, De Sciglio and Spinazzola in order to buy Danilo for 15m euros or De Sciglio for 5m. However, your business not my business, United have the money and can merrily pay whatever you are asked for.

You fecks should release Morata from Mount.Doom, this is slavery at it's finest.

I am expecting Sepp Blatter to go public about it like he did with Ronaldo any time.

Well utd have briefed the UK press of no interest in a player in the past only to sign said player days later

What some might not understand is that Real need to sell a few cast offs. Their squad is now huge and many have huge contracts. They want to add Mbappe to the mix, and before others have a chance to invest. If United show they are willing to look elsewhere for players, Real might be tempted to lower their price in order to get the funds to buy players they want. At the moment, United are desperate and time is on Real's side. A little lack of desperation from United, and a little less time for Real could make them relent.

I think that's the main point I think, especially for Vardy's case. He excelled playing in a team that defend, sit deep and then hit the opponent with swift long ball counter attack kind of setup. With United, especially at OT, most opponents would rather defend deep happily, and that would counter Vardy's game already. If anything, United already has Rashford for that, or even Martial.

"He has snubbed Barcelona to play for Mouriniho" where do they get this from?
plucked it from their asses

I think Bakayoko is most likely to leave if they decide to cash in on one of the two CMs

Fabinho has a 5 year deal and next year he will fetch as much money for Monaco

This would probably happen (less desperation from United, time for Real) nearing the end of the transfer window. It still doesn't mean United should sign players like Vardy to make them less desperate. That is not just smart. Of course, at the moment it is looking rather bleak but it is still early in the summer. Of course it would probably mean less than ideal preparation for the team, but as of now, just have to play the waiting game.

Love this: Lyon need to wait until the stock-market closes before announcing a player sale.

Oh, and apparently telling everyone that's what's happening won't make a difference!

Oh that's right, that was when many decided that one journo was an evil racist also right?
I don't remember other news outlets crediting that one journo at the time, from what I remember it was their own story. It was an obvious brief in my opinion, people said it at the time, no need to get so shirty about it ffs :lol

Also next time just clearly come out and say your point instead of asking a question you know the answer to, just because you want to reply with your ready made reply.

No I had actually forgotten about it, that is why I asked, then I saw your response and it all came back to me. Even remembering how upset some people got with one of the journo's (not saying he was the source for all the stories), so I asked if it was at the same time that happened? No other agenda there.
