Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

If we make one more signing this summer I'd make it a central midfield player as we are desperately short in that position.

Striker wise is we were absolutely desperate and couldn't sign anyone I think Rashford and Martial have the ability to step it up a level and bang goals in but in midfield we have no cover.

Our biggest problem last season was not scoring enough goals and you think we need a CM more than a Striker? Plus our top scorer who btw scored 35% of all of our goals has left. Neither Martial nor Rashford should be a starter come next season.

We need to replace Zlatan's goals and more. Morata could do one of those. Rashford and Martial wouldn't replace Zlatan but they hopefully could provide the more we lacked last season. They surely can't be as bad again.

He will and in previous years that would be an also ran transfer. He's good but not topnotch. He's an Arsenal transfer.
He is a top striker in the French league. There is always a risk when bringing a top player from another league as to whether they will adapt to the PL and also whether they are able to deal with the pressure of playing for a big team like MUFC. It seams with the quality and price of strikers available, such as Belloti, Morata, Lacazette & Lukaku, for £40m Lacazette would not be a bad risk to take, as compared to £70m+ risks with the others.

I think he will be good for them, but if they lose Sanchez I am not sure they will be any better, more of the same. I am also not sure Lacazette will bring everything that Sanchez does. He is more a striker, while Sanchez scores goals, but has that touch of magic and is a hard worker as well. He has drive to his game, he will not tolerate slacking.

Given that there's already a witchhunt out for Woodward around here, no, it's not really a common knowledge.
It is, the majority of what that journalist has said was bounded about two months ago by other journalists, he's just repeating it. None of them have got a clue what we're doing, it's all guess work. This forum see's a journalist who gets one or two transfers correct then goes nuts thinking that they're the oracle of the transfer world. I remember everyone on here went nuts about that Darren Can (Or whatever his name was) the only thing he was good at was stating the bleeding obvious, do you ever hear about him now? No.

Fairly obvious Morata deal is holding everything else up

It's your priority signing, and he's gonna cost a lot. After that's done, you'll move on to the rest but until then, you can't do much.

Spend £100M on two other players and you might not have enough left for Morata/another CF

If Lacazette was Mourinho's target I wouldn't mind at all. More than anything, I want us to land #1 or #2 of every player in Jose's list. We certainly need a striker, that has to be priority.

Of course we'll have enough left. We were going to spend more on Griezmann.

Or Mbappe is holding up Morata?

Or Mbappe is holding up Morata?
It's not as though Real need Mbappe desperately, not like Arsenal needing Lacazette because they might lose Sanchez. I am sure they will survive without him for now and if they lose Morata. Mbappe like Morata does not want to be stuck on a bench in a World Cup year.

It's likely Morata's not the only big signing you plan to make in attack. Just the one you're more likely to pull off, so it has priority over deals for Fabinho/Matic
Or Mbappe is holding up Morata?
Nah, Morata wants to leave, it's just a matter of you paying what we want

1. United have been preparing for months
2. The club has contacted at least 25 players this window working on various scenarios
3. Separate lists were made assuming we'd be in EL vs assuming we'd make the CL
4. Plans were affected and we've had to change targets at times
5. Belotti was ruled out on price after at one time being ahead of Morata on our list - but now we're looking at Morata primarily
6. Perisic was initially on List 2 (Europa) but got elevated - probably because of the Griezmann situation
7. We are continuing to work on a bunch of targets all at the same time and nobody really knows where we are on any aspect as info is not available

Thanks, glad to know I dont have to listen to the podcast to see this is utter horse excrement.

1. No sugar Sherlock
2 and 6 We have contacted 25 players and now Perisic who was on list two has been elavated......so how many players were on list one?
3. Seperate lists were made depending on us being in EL or CL.....yet last season we were in the EL and broke the world transfer record.
4. Erm that will go for every single club buying and selling players this summer, how is that even news?
5. Bellotti was ruled out on price so now we are working on another player we dont want as much that the club according to the press want just as much for?
7. And then they cover there asses by saying nobody really knows as we are working on a bunch of targets at the same time. SO when we sign none of the players they keep mentioning, that will be why.

Phil Brown knows as much as me and you; nothing.

He is a fan who sometimes bumps into Ed Woodward at pre season matches.

He is an awful 'source' for Utd transfers.

Can we not with the "Phil Brown" thing, he is/was the tanned (orange) Hull manager and that's it.

Sounds like you need to step away from the internet if this sort of thing upsets you.

The Pepe transfer has taken a new direction with the player moving close to a possible transfer to Besiktas. The PSG offer was apparently not sufficient to close the deal. Decision is expected on Monday with the player moving towards the Turkish side.

As a lot have said I think the Griezmann transfer not happening has stalled the transfer market. That would have been a blockbuster and it's like everyone is waiting for someone to start it off. To get that big name. Then you get other big clubs wanting to make a statement.
I highly doubt that this is true when big businesses are involved. Deals take time, thats why its taking long for everyone to sign players. Not some meta conspiracy club rivalries.

Wow! You're upset. Step back a bit mate. It's the first day of the window. People say stuff and have opinions and those that have a platform air them. Breathe...

If we're keeping our dealings tightly guarded, then why do these guys seem to have the detail on everything we're doing?

The initial post I responded to does not read like the guys have 'the detail on everything we're doing'.

Who are the 25 players? Who has agreed a deal? Who is almost signed? etc. I can roll out a hundred questions they cannot answer. The bit about Bellotti is a no brainer. The bit about Perisic is not exactly a brainer.

But the whole post, particularly the final submission, makes logical sense and that's why I liked it.

Sums up the policy of English clubs when none of them are even trying for him at his price.
