Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

I don't get these type of posts. There's a reason why the thread is not in the United forum. There's plenty of posters (incl. opponent fans), who want to follow the general market.

I've got a better idea, kick out the 5 year old spoilt kids until, in fact don't let them back in.
This a transfer tweet thread, not a united only transfer tweet thread.

Excuse an off hand unharmful post by an exasperated poster for reacting that way. It happens when every time you see 20 odd tweet overnight and not one of them is related to the club you support in a man utd forum.

Morata's wife has also stopped following United on instagram.
It probably wasn't the wisest thing to do. The lad wants to be here, it would be a shame if he is stuck, not the shabbiest place to be mind you, at Madrid. He needs to be somewhere to establish himself as a main striker and Jose wants him. Perez will always find someone else to sign and keep the lad on the bench. It is how Perez is, not a reflection on Morata.

You could probably go on a lot of clubs forums and see the same reaction. It is typical transfer window stuff. Imagine what the Monaco one is like, there are plenty of tweets, but all about their players leaving.

I actually like the way the transfer window is going. We are discreet, refusing to show desperation and we seem to be negotiating hard. That shows good business sense. In footballing terms, nothing yet shows we are losing out. There has not been much of movements in the market by our direct rivals both in the league and in Europe. The best time to really judge will be when that window closes.

I think teams are watching each other's moves closely. Any panic buys can be costly in financial terms. We badly need a striker but we can't afford to allow ourselves to be bullied by Madrid, Torino or Everton. If we allow that, the other clubs won't spare us.

Not sure if you've heard the Amoyal podcast where they spent a fair few minutes on United (Pilib de Brun was featured). Some of the things they mentioned:

1. United have been preparing for months
2. The club has contacted at least 25 players this window working on various scenarios
3. Separate lists were made assuming we'd be in EL vs assuming we'd make the CL
4. Plans were affected and we've had to change targets at times
5. Belotti was ruled out on price after at one time being ahead of Morata on our list - but now we're looking at Morata primarily
6. Perisic was initially on List 2 (Europa) but got elevated - probably because of the Griezmann situation
7. We are continuing to work on a bunch of targets all at the same time and nobody really knows where we are on any aspect as info is not available

In this light, there's a good chance that we have indeed contacted in some manner a large number of the players we're linked to constantly. There's no reason to believe we have not touched base. Whether we are serious or not, can't say. That said, look around. Virtually no club has been making big signings (Bernardo Silva is not - yet, at least, worthy of classifying as a big signing). The market at the top end generally sees moves happen rapidly after the first couple of moves are made and I think everyone's just waiting for that to occur. That's also what will set baselines for price, so it's no surprise as sellers watch the "market rates" and continue to hold out for as high an amount as possible in the hopes that the baselines will be high and buyers remain wary and hold back waiting for lower floors to become apparent.

That's also probably why United in particular are holding back. If we were to sign Perisic for 50 Mn, it's virtually certain that the Morata price won't fall by much (if at all) while other prices will also be staggeringly high. Business logic...

Thanks. Wanted to know what was in this podcast. Seems encouraging really.

To be fair, all the reports coming out now are still saying that PSG have agreed terms with Fabinho, and that he wants to move to PSG, just that Monaco don't want to sell to them.

The part about us agreeing terms is strange though, seems like the top journos were getting fed some duff info by one of the involved parties, could be Juve like Duncan Castles said

You're right.

I take anything de Brun says with a massive grain of salt. He may know certain things based on his sources with the club but there's also this feeling that he fills in the blanks with anything that's missing in order to have something to publish for his social media followers.
Everything he says is crap.

The guy reads the Transfer Forum of Redcafe and gives a digest of all the news and opinions as though he has an insight.

I could easily come up with the things he said. There's nothing new. It's just a logical extrapolation of what's being widely reported.

That's great, except that Jose wants the business done and the squad complete by the time we fly out on tour, in just over a week's time so time is now of the essence.

Everything he says isn't crap. He has a radio show and routinely interviews and talks to people affiliated with the club, as well as talks to other journos. My point is that its a good idea to greet what most journos say with a healthy dose of skepticism and rather than believe one journo, wait until 3 or 4 known journos are saying the same thing about a particular transfer before giving it credibility.

Yup. Was indeed. Said it was "very risky" to replace Carrick with just Matic as just a single injury could leave the team very exposed, so there could well be 2 DMs signed to ensure Paul Pogba could be freed. So, the two (de Brun aired this view and Amoyal agreed) feel it could well be 2 DMs; and they did say United has definitely spoken to him and are interested.

For the record, de Brun also said:
1. The window may not be going as well for United as needed since Woody sounded "snippier than usual" when he spoke to him a few days ago
2. Jose could even quit if he doesn't get the players he wants since he's been working on this for months
3. It's "desperate" for Woody to do well - though he's "not normally the type to go in and start throwing money around"

Interesting talk overall.

I am going to call complete BS on the second one. But watch this will become "a story" and send lots of muppets into a frenzy.

To be fair a week or so ago all the reports were the same except about United.

Most likely top joirnis willingly repeated nonsense because it generates readers.

It was his opinion and he stated it as such.
Completely made up bullshit as I said. It being his opinion doesn't mean it's not bullshit. Being an opinion does not make it somehow defensible.

Their are morons who have the opinion the world is flat. It being their opinion does not change it from being complete bullshit.

If he ends up there and we still miss out on Griezman I'm going to kick someone's cat
I think Griezmann's gone, this was our only summer to do it, no way should we be waiting a year to strengthen.

This is a brilliant post.

The highlighted bit makes a lot of sense.

Also, I posted a few days ago that Jose hates leaks in his teams. I can imagine how much he would have discussed, with Woodward and everyone else concerned, about the need to cut down on info going out regarding our recruitment plans.

Doesn't your main point completely contradict the majority of the post you thought was brilliant?

Or am I misunderstanding.

I still think we will get griezmann , throw 100 mill at them bingo worth every penny it will be a late one but remember where you heard it first !!

No super transfers yet? A static market penalises the hunters for sure, who will feel forced to overpay for the quality they need. Just saying, Alex Sandro and Bonucci were apparently gone after Cardiff but every new day they seem more to stay.

As a lot have said I think the Griezmann transfer not happening has stalled the transfer market. That would have been a blockbuster and it's like everyone is waiting for someone to start it off. To get that big name. Then you get other big clubs wanting to make a statement.

Most of that was already common knowledge anyway, he's not really said anything new.

Looks/feels like Lacazette will be the first big name transfer
