Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Do you rate him(Fabinho) ?

Personally think he is one of the over rated Monaco players.....but he is a good player, definately better than Bakayoko.....and far better than Eric Dier. Think he would be a good signing....main reasons being he can also cover right back for Valencia, which I think is his better position myself anyway and I would much rather us spend probably less of a fee on a good player in Fabinho than a very average one in Dier who we have been highly linked with (or Matic as well actually who is decent but nothing more for me).

Think he would fit in well in our midfield and give good balance, I just dont think he is the world class player many seem to think of him as. I think Silva and Mbappe were the stand out players in that Monaco side, the rest were all good players that made a good side but I do think though all good, the likes of Mendy and Bakayoko in particular are being over hyped and are very rough around the edges.

It's been a deliberate ploy to give them nothing since the summer 2013 shocker. And rightly so, they are parasites.

It's been pretty clear for a while that we have stopped giving the English journos any information when it comes to our transfer dealings.

Well to be fair Utd directly briefed them we are not in for Fabinho. Probably Woodward himself. We seem to choose when we want the deal to be public. See Mike Keegans way of always taking Utds briefs with a pinch of salt.

Still you'd think they would have inside sources or moles who would feed them decent info apart from what the official stance of the club is. Fair play to Woody though for running a tight ship. Uncle Duncan seems to be the only trusted English source for United transfer news, head like a fecking orange.

Don't you want us to sign Renato Sanches for £50m?

Keane Lindelof
Matic Fabinho
Perisic Dembele
Talisca James
Dier Semedo
Lukaku Morata

Come on Woody, just stick to my list.

Wing back? That's a bit of a comedown. I'd rather he be used as a DM, but then there were hints he'd rather play RB.

Can't see us using him as a full-back as he was one of the best midfielders in Europe last season, but I'm sure his versatility is something that has played a major part in Jose's decision to make a move for him.

I would like us to sign Sanches yes, not for 50m though. I would like us to sign two cm ideally as we are pretty bare there. We only have Carrick who cant go on forever and Fellaini who just cant for the third midfield spot with Pogba and Herrera. Add to that a player I think could developo into a top defensive midfielder in Mensah who hasnt even played there for us and a highly talented player in Perreira who could go either way and Im not sure one signing really covers us for the season with possible injuries.

Surely you'd want a more experienced player than Sanches if you reckon Pereira and TFM will be in the mix next season, given that Carrick might not get many games. Besides, the kid has yet to prove anything in the last 12 months to warrant a move to a club in a situation like ours

Great news AFAIC. I love Valencia but he really doesn't gel well with Mkhi. Most games we should be 4-2-3-1 and Mkhi-Fabinho or Mata-Valencia. Big games 4-3-3 with Fabinho DM and Valencia RB.

I'm sure Jose will try all possible combinations in the pre-season to see who will work the best, so it's better to get our remaining 3 signings in the next 3 weeks.

Fair points yes. I dont think TFM will be in the mix for midfield sadly. I have a feeling he will get the odd game as a full back which he is totally not suited to. Be a very good back up centre back if JOnes and/or Smalling leave too.

Thing is Sanches has played in a European final and two title winning sides, he arguably already has as much experience as Fabinho for example. I have to confess I havent seen him even play for Bayern, but the game time he has had, it looks like he hasnt even been given a chance. i have been watching him in the under 21s and to be fair he has looked pretty average. But his self belief and confidence look totally shot to me, his body language says it all. He needs to leave Bayern and I still think he can be a top player, with a lot of energy, box to box, filling in holes and gaps over the pitch both offensively and defensively. Personally think people want player nowadays to be a certain type and to have wonderful technique etc etc etc. I think Sanches just does all the simple things really well, is a clever player and his movement and reading of the game is really good, and he is still just a teenager. I think he can become a really good player and if he is available for £30-38m odd in todays market he would be a steal.

I want us to sign good players with scope to become great players, I am not so bothered about experience personally. I think Sanches is a good player, Im not sure he can become a great player but I think he can become a very very good one, totally different style of player obviously but his ceiling is much much higher for me than say Matic, Dier etc...I think he is already a better player, think he has just gone to the wrong club in terms of the players already there and whether it is that or the culture, it has affected him.

Thing is, there does seem to be a shortage of really good central midfielders to me this summer to purchase, apart from Verratti, who are the world class ones that are experienced? The likes of Naingollan, Matauldi that spring to mind dont seem special to me. I think Fabinho and Sanches are definately two of the better ones and given there ages I would much rather sign them over the more experienced players.

Neither would be my first choices, I think the likes of Wiegl, Guimaraes, Tielmans (£26-28m or whatever it was, is a steal), Ascacibar would all be big risks but player that can all become world class, stars within 18 months and double-treble there value in that time too, of course as we have seen with the likes of Martial and SHaw, it can be a rocky road but then again how many of our experienced signings recently have been a success?

We should be making more of these signings I think in late teens on the cusp. Why are the likes of Dortmund making them and we arent? Even Real Madrid are going down that route the last couple of years

Yet we want to get one player in Perisic for 50m? These jounrnos!

Banega must be getting on now isnt he? Inter and Valencia are hardly small clubs and sure I have read he has had personal or discipline problems but Banega really should have played for one of the elite clubs I think, such a good player in his prime.

I'll be very honest and confess that I do not rate Sanches as much as the hype suggests. He could turn out to be a good player but I'll personally not get on it. I watched him while watching Benfica when I believed we were going the sign Guedes 'the new Ronaldo:lol:' and I've not found the quality to match the hype. But I agree with rest of what you said though. I would have loved Tielemans too, but I'd happily have Neves who I think is very similar to Carrick who is on his last legs.

He really should have but for those issue. Still only 28 though

He does seem to very much split opinion, but he is just a teenager still, that is what surprises me with all the negativity. Be a good 2/3 years before we find out if he is nearer Davids (people forget Davids moved after one big season and was awful at Milan whilte still young...no not comparing them, he will never be that good) or nearer Anderson. Id be surprised if Mourinho isnt in for him though with what he said last summer and I just think tactically Sanches would fit with what Mourinho wants. Tielmans reminds me so much of a young Seedorf, if he goes on to be half the player that fee will look small. Though I have heard of him as we were linked last year, first I have seen of Neves is the U21 this summer.

If somehow they were to pull off a Sanchez coup, don't see why not?

Can't see him moving from City to a direct rival in the same city in a direct move between both clubs. Just can't imagine it at all.
