Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

For the same reason English call Firenze Florence and Venezia Venice.

Sure, but they don't call Firenze Hannover and Venezia Paris. They call Munchen with the name of a totally different city. (Londra and Ginevra are alright names, Monaco isn't).

Best news this summer, hope we get in excess of £15m for him.

I'm not too fussed if Smalling goes. We have to be ruthless if we want to be the best again.

Also says in the article that United are confident of reaching an agreement over Morata between 60-70m

If Everton want him we should ask for £30m. Recoup the money we wasted on Fellaini.

Terrible news in my opinion. Top defender, just out of place in this era where centre halves are compared to #10s.
I like him and I too think he's decent, but to me he's not really all that much better than what we have, therefore no real issues with him being sold

Well he is what we have!

He's our best defender in the air, and generally in our top two defenders I think.

I would keep Smalling ahead of Jones. I like Jones but he's just injured too often.

Well after bailly, there comes a good drop in quality. Then for some Smalling is the best, others think Rojo and some others would say Jones if he could stay fit. One has to go and i would like to keep them all, but if Jones doesn't improve he will be the next one in the next summer to go.

Álvaro Morata has it done with Manchester United. The future of the forward of Real Madrid is days to close and his destination is clear: Old Trafford. Morata will be the 9th from Mourinho starting next week.

As has been learned El Larguero everything is well under way, so much so that this week would finish closing the last fringe of the transfer of the Spanish player, which would leave the club of his life to pack again, this time to Manchester. Although the official of the transfer late in reaching the agreement will close in the next few days.

The English set, as has already advanced El Larguero, has been interested in Morata for several months and will offer the Spanish international a long contract, between four and five years.

Morata would occupy the post that leaves free Zlatan Ibrahimovic, player who did not renew United. Casulidades of the destiny or not, the debut in official party of Morata with the red devils' shirt would be before Real Madrid in the Supercopa of Europe.

Me too but I guess Smalling has a better resale value than Jones. Jones is worth pretty much the same as Rooney, we would need to pay out his contract in order to get rid off him.

So, basically, if I understood more repeating of the previous news. The contract between 4-5 years. The deal will be done this week, Morata first official game against Madrid in Skopje.

From the full article.

I disagree in the huge gap between Bailly and Smalling personally, at least purely in terms of defending.

I thought this was a done deal like 2 days ago? Whats up with these slowpoke reporters?

It wasnt done, Roma rejected their offer and wanted more money and Liverpool didnt want to raise their bid, even thiugh they agreed terms with Salah

Reminds me of the Pogba saga. Repeating themselves.

You went from Smalling plus one to Rojo plus one :D

Rojo deserved it for his form. Was more about him than it was about Smalling's form. Smalling has, by and large, been an excellent defender when fit since he joined us. Some of the caf have been ridiculously unforgiving of a very small sample of errors in about 5 years.

He's had some huge performances and even as a 'young player' he often got the nod in big games. He was exceptional in the Allianz under Moyes I remember. Any forward who has played with him seems to mention him as the worst to face too. If we sold him to Everton that would reduce the gap between us and then immediately.

We should keep Smalling. He is really strong in the air. We need numbers and rotation in that area. And we must keep 5 of them.

Well they keep insisting that it will be concluded which is good news. It must be a formality at this point.

As opposed to them being more sympathetic to our need for a centre forward?

You seem to have forgotten (or maybe you are not old enough to remember) that we sold them Ronaldo for 80 million pounds at a time when world class players were going for around 35 million. They paid it, because they needed the player. Neither we nor Madrid are charitable organizations, and they are under no obligation to give us their players at bargain prices. If we don't like the prize they are quoting for their player, we can always refuse to pay it and look elsewhere. No need to call them names.

Can a person express some genuine distaste and resent towards Real Madrid without having to deal with snarky, sarcastic replies?
