Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Yeah but it appears even that has gone quiet for quite some time now.

.

david amoyal knows feck all. I dont know why people ask him stuff. The response in that tweet is his generic answer. He just translates dimarzios stuff

Three seasons ago is a long time in football. With the prices in English football, Matic would likely cost more to sign than Fabinho, and Matic is more comfortable as an LCM - like Pogba is. I'd just see it as weird after Mourinho's criticism of him before he was sacked.

Nothing weird about criticizing a player or manager and still ending up working with him. It's normal in football. Who would have thought that Jose would ever work with Cesc Fabregas and Pedro? How about Mata? Etc.

I am a big fan of Nemanja Matic. If he picks up form at United, he will be a beast. I don't mind us checking to see if he can be available in the Summer if we eventually don't go for Fabinho.

'hugely keen and excited'

If that is true, then that's hunger and desire to wear our badge right there.

I'll take such a player over a so called more skillful one who may have his heart elsewhere.

Fabinho, or even Dier, would certainly be more preferable in my opinion - but Matic, at just 28, shouldn't be treated as finished or anything in a hurry.

Did he criticise any of them though?

PSG want to be seen as one of the world's elite clubs. I don't think they'll sell their best players for any price.

Especially when those best players stupidly keep signing new contracts every year!

Why the feck would we not be in for Fabinho, feck sake.

Di Marzio, Pilib de Brun and Delaney all claim that we were, at one time. I would assume it's fallen through/we've decided to look elsewhere - perhaps Chelsea are close to Bakayoko and we've had some positive news re Matic...?

I read that a totally different way. Wasn't his previous contract through 2021 and the new 2022? That is 1 more year.
Release clause remains at €100 million so absolutely nothing changes.

His contract adds an extra year but think his wages have been bumped for his remaining year, not a chance he isn't leaving next summer.

Matic has had 1 good season in the last 3 years, 1 of them being embarrassingly bad under Mourinho himself. There's absolutely nothing in the Matic rumours.
José gave him a public dressing down at Chelsea too. For some reason I always got the impression he wasn't that keen on him.

Anyway, we have obviously ended interest in Fabinho because Verratti is coming. :D

Matic did well last season too. Jose gives everyone a public dressing down, it means nothing.

He was one of their weakest players last season, hence being the first player to be replaced. If Fellaini had positional discipline he would be an almost identical player. Do you really think Jose would sign someone who was one of the biggest let downs for him during his Chelsea meltdown? Not a cats chance in hell.

He had 35 league apps last year. He was not replaced. Infact he was preferred to Fabregas in Contes system to partner Kante.
