Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

You do know we came 6th last season right? I presume that feeling comes from people desperately not wanting to have another season like last season, or like the season before, or the one before that...

Frankly we're still miles behind the top 3 and unless we did something dramatic in the window that won't change. When names like Griezmann and Fabinho get thrown about it makes people think that dramatic window could happen, so when it doesn't people struggle to resign to the fact that we must slowly build and we won't immediately start challenging again
This whole post is a mess. Sort yourself out.

We're a few players short of a strong team and I'll trust Mourinho to identify those players and bring them in. Some things will be out of his control (Griezmann) but if he picks Matic (a player he has worked with and has won premierships) over Fabinho (huge talent but unproven in England) then so be it.

For what he has done for them he should have had them cut 10 mil from the clause. Next season a lot of things can happen and we might end up having interest in someone else.

With transfer fees going up like a rocket fueled carrot, Griez for 100m euros will be deal of the century. Average players are going for 60m this year. Next season, players like Jordan Henderson will be worth 400m.

Enjoy winning feck all. Would hate if we went back for him next season.

He'll be here next season, loyality reward for sticking with them when they can't sign a replacement. Wouldn't surprise if they let him go for less than his release clause.

I agree with most of your post but I'm sorry Fabinho over Matic or Dier any day.

It's starting to look like Mourinho isn't looking at building a team beyond 3-4 years with Perisic (28) and Matic (28) hardly long term compared to last seasons signings.

But, but he's getting Lindelof 22 and Morata 24 also.

Not a tweet, but a weird one.

Rodriguez move to be scuppered by Rooney?
Diario Madrista are reporting that the proposed deal for Rodriguez may not happen because of his need to wear the number 10 shirt.

Adidas are said to be demanding that he has to wear 10 - already occupied by Wayne Rooney.

Rumours have linked Rooney with China or a move back to Everton, but he could choose to run down his contract which expires in 2019.

This is just strange - we can always take the shirt away from Rooney if we really wanted to - it's not his to keep.

Read an interesting thing on F365 today. Could we not start to be looking short of home grown players? If you think about many of those who are rumoured to be off (Smalling, Jones, Rooney, Young,Carrick soon etc.) and those thought to be coming in then we might be seriously short of numbers.

Maybe that's why Dier > Fabinho?

Caballero close to moving to Chelsea.

I know just seems weird that he'd go for short term over long term im some areas. It could be he sees Martial in that LW role long term but he needs competition but in midfield where we are lacking serious depth he goes for Matic knowing Fellaini and Carrick probably wont be here this time next season.

Just seems odd when Fabinho is available and could end up elsewhere, not a whole lot of good young DM's about.

Dier isn't homegrown and we're still massively stacked anyways.

Tuanzabe, TFM, Pogba, Rashford, Pereira, Lingard. And that's just off the top of my head, I'm probably missing some.

It is probably cheaper to retire his number.

If he is going to spend the whole of next season sulking on our bench and further tarnishing his legeacy, I rather we just pay off his contract and ask him to leave. Might be poisonous for the team if this was allowed to happen.

The under 18s has some exceptional young British talent (Gomes, Buffonge etc) and players like Lingard and Tuanzebe will be with the team 5 years or more.

Matic, like Perisic, is a good player that would improve our team. But he won't appease the FM muppets because he's not a shiny foreign flavour of the month.
I disagree with this. Perisic makes sense to me over alternatives in his position because he has specific qualities that would compensate for other parts of our team, and that alternatives wouldn't necessarily. Matic is a totally different case for me; everything he can do, Fabinho can do better. Not to say Matic isn't a good player, but it doesn't make sense to me to go with the latter when the former is available. Only reason I can think that Mourinho would go for Matic is because he's worked with him before.

Last season we got Mikhi who was 27 years old. I don't think anyone regarded him as a short term signing, do they ? 27-28 years old is a good age giving you about 3 years at top level then you can chop them for other players it's not really a big deal. Short term signing are like Zlatan : anything above 30.

Will you refuse to sign a player like Nainggolan because he's 29 years old and will give you a max of 3 years because " he's a short term " ?! I don't think though. 28-29 isn't a big age for me. Not all signings should be kids, it must be mix and we're doing this pretty fine. We got Pogba 24, Bailly 23, Lindelof 22 and Morata 24, adding 2 or 3 players at 28 isn't a big concern.

My complain about Matic is his abilities and characters which I think Fabinho will be much better, but I'm not thinking much about age tbh.

I see what your saying and its a fair point.

Didn't Matic down tools the year Mourinho got sacked at Chelsea? Think only Willian worked his socks off regardless that year which is why i was suprised to see Matic linked with us.

Yeah, people get way to obsessed with age, particularly on here. It's basically a myth that 30 is most players expiry dates; peaks vary dramatically, and midfielders in particular tend to play well into their 30s at a reasonably high level. Even if you sign a player at 28 and they're going strong until around 33, that's not only a good stretch of time, it's also often their peak years.

Diario madridista is the sport part of Okdiario, directed by Inda and financed by Madrid.Great to find out all the ugly stuff of Barsa but very biased with Madrid.
In my opinion there are not serious offers for James and they are just trying to move his name through the press

That's what I thought, too. I remember the game when he put him in as a sub then subbed him off shortly again it was hilarious. The links to him doesn't make sense for me but we don't know what's happening behind closed doors.

Another win for Perisic is that he will be the experienced option for that left wing slot, with Martial or Rashford being the younger options with different abilities, and they can develop to be the first teamer in a season or two. Getting Matic, who turns 29 this year, means that we will have to look for options again in a season or two, since Carrick would have retired by then.
