Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

Chelsea also seems to be more focused on Mathys Tel for their left winger role, anyways, hence the Nkunku to Bayern Munich links. Garnacho was only meant to be an opportunistic signing for them, and the agents only went around because the club probably told them that Garnacho can be moved on for the right price.

Adeyemi deal gone a bit quiet too at the moment
There was talk he didn't want to leave, Napoli went back in for him, lots of chatter, then as you say goes quite and stories coming out that Napoli are still in for Garnacho. Maybe he reiterated he wants to stay till summer.
It's been two days since the last update, so it's not been that quiet. For Dortmund, the fact that they're starting to look at Schade means that they're advancing on Adeyemi being moved on. Giovanni Manna, Napoli's sporting director, mentioned that Napoli also has other targets, so don't be surprised if they find another attacking player on a more reasonable deal to bring in.

Right now, Garnacho's too expensive, especially with the player not 100% willing to leave at this time, and Adeyemi would prefer to move in the summer. Maybe Napoli can secure the Adeyemi deal for the summer, but they want a winger now than in a few months' time.

Yep, the best predictor of the club's success is how many transfer decisions they get right. So far for me, Ugarte, Mazraoui, De Ligt all look very capable. Yoro is still very young but really good signs so far.

Zirkzee is the only question mark but even he's very young and seems to be getting used to the pace of the league slowly.

The only disappointment is not prioritizing LB and not strengthening in attack.

Sure it's been mentioned by more reputable people than Dharmesh that Antony loan was enough for us to do the Dorgu deal
I'm not sure how the Antony deal can move the needle that much that it really impacts if we can do a deal for Dorgu especially given the final fee isn't even known yet. Even if Antony is on £200k per week as reported (which seems insane) then we're only saving about £4m by loaning him out and Betis taking on 85% of his salary.

Well if it's £30m for Dorgu over 5 years amortization that's £6m a year if Antony is £4m maybe we had a couple floating about?

So we're that tight on PSR that a couple of million decides whether we comply or not but then think it's smart to spend more than £30m (admittedly the cost will be amortised as you say) now on a player who is very raw and likely won't make much of an impact to begin with?

I think a raw player who understands how to play the position can be more effective than an experienced player who does not. I would sooner trust an U18 striker to play upfront than an experienced premier league central midfielder, for example.

I'd suggest you'd be fecked with either choice you've laid out there. My contention wasn't even about whether we should sign Dorgu or someone else anyway, it was with the idea that loaning out Antony now means we can buy Dorgu when loaning out Antony only brings in £4m. If things are that tight then I'd suggest a loan or just waiting until the summer might be more prudent.

I would imagine and hope that the reality is that there's a bit more wiggle room than that and the Antony deal doesn't really impact this deal but just gets him out of the club for 6 months and hopefully if he plays well we might be able to sell him.

My personal view on Dorgu or any LWB has been that it unlocks a lot more

We could put Maz back at RCD which for me has been his best and have Dalot at RWB and then have Amad at No 10

This now smacks of desperation. I expect them to fleece us for as much as they can get.

I thought this all or nothing transfer dealing was supposed to be over now, but it seems it's just the same as before.
It felt like this summer we had finally learned to have backup targets when we moved on from Branthwaite, but now it seems we're right back to our old ways. Very frustrating!

Because in 2 seasons in Bundesliga he scored 36 goals - but of course that was then. Those were the only 2 seasons where he actually scored goals.
And signing bundesliga players has always worked out amazing for us (Kagawa, Sancho, Mhki, Schweiny) :D

Why would United want to sell Garnacho for 50 Million and buy a left back for 40 Million? When it would cost 80-90 Million to replace Garnacho and his obvious potential . Looking at the last 2 matches he is one of a few who would give you any hope.

As for Nkunku a forward who has 5 goals in 30 league games . That's the level United have at the moment. It really is looking like a sinking ship while selling to only hopes the fans have Garnacho , Mainoo ?

Ye but if you’re going to Saudi you ain’t getting a pay cut anyway. Only a pay rise  I’d be happy if we just released them all and saved millions in wages.
You do realise that if you release a player they are entitled to be paid for the remainder of their contract
