Definitely. In the past when we've replaced someone or made new signings in an area they haven't often been better than their predecessors.Pretty big chance Dalot is better than both on the right

That would be great tbh and upgrade on what we have and allow Diallo to play in the No10 spotmAlvaro on the right, Dorgu on the left?
Take a bow Real Betis.
You mean LEFT wingbackConsensus seems to be that is he athletic and fast enough for what Ruben wants in RWB
Adeyemi deal gone a bit quiet too at the moment
It's been two days since the last update, so it's not been that quiet. For Dortmund, the fact that they're starting to look at Schade means that they're advancing on Adeyemi being moved on. Giovanni Manna, Napoli's sporting director, mentioned that Napoli also has other targets, so don't be surprised if they find another attacking player on a more reasonable deal to bring in.There was talk he didn't want to leave, Napoli went back in for him, lots of chatter, then as you say goes quite and stories coming out that Napoli are still in for Garnacho. Maybe he reiterated he wants to stay till summer.
Sure it's been mentioned by more reputable people than Dharmesh that Antony loan was enough for us to do the Dorgu dealSo much for LWB deal not being related to Garnacho
I'm not sure how the Antony deal can move the needle that much that it really impacts if we can do a deal for Dorgu especially given the final fee isn't even known yet. Even if Antony is on £200k per week as reported (which seems insane) then we're only saving about £4m by loaning him out and Betis taking on 85% of his salary.Sure it's been mentioned by more reputable people than Dharmesh that Antony loan was enough for us to do the Dorgu deal
Well if it's £30m for Dorgu over 5 years amortization that's £6m a year if Antony is £4m maybe we had a couple floating about?I'm not sure how the Antony deal can move the needle that much that it really impacts if we can do a deal for Dorgu especially given the final fee isn't even known yet. So we're that tight on PSR that a couple of million decides whether we comply or not but then think it's smart to spend more than £30m (admittedly the cost will be amortised as you say) now on a player who is very raw and likely won't make much of an impact to begin with?Well if it's £30m for Dorgu over 5 years amortization that's £6m a year if Antony is £4m maybe we had a couple floating about?
I think a raw player who understands how to play the position can be more effective than an experienced player who does not. I would sooner trust an U18 striker to play upfront than an experienced premier league central midfielder, for example. So we're that tight on PSR that a couple of million decides whether we comply or not but then think it's smart to spend more than £30m (admittedly the cost will be amortised as you say) now on a player who is very raw and likely won't make much of an impact to begin with?
I'd suggest you'd be fecked with either choice you've laid out there. My contention wasn't even about whether we should sign Dorgu or someone else anyway, it was with the idea that loaning out Antony now means we can buy Dorgu when loaning out Antony only brings in £4m. If things are that tight then I'd suggest a loan or just waiting until the summer might be more prudent.I think a raw player who understands how to play the position can be more effective than an experienced player who does not. Do not believe a word sky sports journalists saySo much for LWB deal not being related to Garnacho
My personal view on Dorgu or any LWB has been that it unlocks a lot moreSo we're that tight on PSR that a couple of million decides whether we comply or not but then think it's smart to spend more than £30m (admittedly the cost will be amortised as you say) now on a player who is very raw and likely won't make much of an impact to begin with?
Tier 2:
It felt like this summer we had finally learned to have backup targets when we moved on from Branthwaite, but now it seems we're right back to our old ways. Very frustrating! This now smacks of desperation. I expect them to fleece us for as much as they can get.
I thought this all or nothing transfer dealing was supposed to be over now, but it seems it's just the same as before.

Isn’t Alvaro the backup target? Seems to be the way it’s spoken about. It felt like this summer we had finally learned to have backup targets when we moved on from Branthwaite, but now it seems we're right back to our old ways. Very frustrating!
Sounds that way now, I stand corrected if true!Isn’t Alvaro the backup target? Seems to be the way it’s spoken about.
Only if it’s a loan for Nkunku and doesn’t involve Garnacho this would make sense.
Why would we want Nkunku?
And signing bundesliga players has always worked out amazing for us (Kagawa, Sancho, Mhki, Schweiny)Because in 2 seasons in Bundesliga he scored 36 goals - but of course that was then. Those were the only 2 seasons where he actually scored goals.
I didn't say we should sign him - but I assume that is why we are linked to himAnd signing bundesliga players has always worked out amazing for us (Kagawa, Sancho, Mhki, Schweiny)
2 goals and one assist this season for Chelsea and they've barely played him. No more Chelsea cast offs please.
Our backup target is a player that was ours 6 months ago in a position we didn't have a fit player for at the time we sold him.Isn’t Alvaro the backup target? Seems to be the way it’s spoken about.
You do realise that if you release a player they are entitled to be paid for the remainder of their contractYe but if you’re going to Saudi you ain’t getting a pay cut anyway. Only a pay rise I’d be happy if we just released them all and saved millions in wages.
