Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

That could happen - because wages aren't a big issue in the middle-east. The majority of the european stars make more then Casemiro
I heard in a podcast that only CR7, Neymar, Benzema, & Kante earn the big wages, as in 50m++ annually, the rest, earn close to what they were originally earning in Europe, bit more, like Henderson or Mehrez or SMS and so, can't verify that though.

Kerkez any day of the week. We can no longer take on project players at Wingback. We want proven players and Kerkez is tried and tested with fantastic physical qualities.
Kerkez is not going to leave an excellent situation at Bournemouth in the middle of the season to join a highly volatile and tense atmosphere at Manchester United. Also, Bournemouth are not going to sell him in the middle of the season because he is a key player for them.

So far we seem to be linked to LB, ST and MF (replacing Casemiro). I doubt we will see 3 players incoming in January, only 1 is most likely, depending on availability.

Kerkez will want a transfer from Bournemouth if a 'bigger' club came in. I acknowledge the fact AFCB are a better team than us now.

Do you think he grew up idolising Jermaine Defoe's famous loan spell?

He'll have joined a higher wage EPL club from AZ seeing it as a stepping stone to more lucrative package. Money, and trophies.

We need to ask if such a player suits us. It'll be a massive transfer fee and wage outlay with no proven experience. A stronger argument suggests we should find our own Kerkez, and this Diego Leon character may be it.

Who are the CMs that we currently linked to? I don't think I've seen any. Probably missed it

Personally, I think a left wing back on permanent deal will come in, but I can also see Casemiro, Rashford and Zirkzee getting replaced if they leave. We actually need bodies in those positions especially CDM. Otherwise it's just Eriksen, Uguarte, Mainoo and Bruno?
Same for the forward position. Hojlund can't be our only ST for the remainder of the season. Most likely a loan coming in e.g. Kolo Muani links. Unless they think Chido is ready but I seriously doubt that.

Chido only recently started for u21s I believe?

I doubt Zirkzee would leave and there is a chance we make do without replacing Casemiro as it is so difficult to bring in a quality player during January window. Alternatively, we could explore a stop gap solution like we did with Amrabat earlier.

Indeed. Case, Zirkzee and Rashford are all getting (some) playtime as we don’t have any replacements. Any one of them going out will need a direct replacement, and an improvement obviously.

Striker:
I hope for Zirkzee we won’t go for Kolo Muani, he’s only ever had one good season. I was quite enthusiastic about Vlahovic but what I’m reading on this forum is that Juve’s not too happy with him and his performance isn’t that great. Gyokeres won’t be available this window, so I think Osimhen is our best hope.

CM/ DM: if Case leaves we are too thin in DM. It’s not for no reason that Collyer hasn’t got any game time. But personally I have no idea who to replace him for. Ederson is great but more CM. I don’t know too many options and Frenkie is by now a forbidden word

Leftback I hope we can get Mendes. Kerkers would also be a safe, but quite expensive, option. Those thinking he won’t leave Bournemouth: players will always see Man Utd as a step up. As a club, in salary, etc. Results will come

Overall it’s nice to hear about the right rumors. Let’s hope they can be converted into reality

If Zirkzee can return to La dolce vita at Juve, Napoli or AC Milan, to a league he knows, where’s he’s been successful and adored, I’m convinced he’ll be happy to go

That's largely because Mitrovic is better at being a centre forward and Vlahovic is better at twatting it from 40 yards. Enthusiastically.
Tend to agree he’s not perfect for the system we should wait for the right mobile 10/SS in the summer, a player like Cunha or Brian Mbeumo are much more suited to the Amorim system and we need Gyokeres or Osimhen as the number 9 and should wait until we get the right player that Amorim wants

Mainoo is only being mentioned there as he's a sellable asset. Not a chance we sell him, but I'm pretty sure we'd be OK in selling Garnacho.

He doesn’t seem to fit the system and he’s already had issues with the manager. I’d say they are being mentioned together so Garnacho can’t say he’s being pushed out but I’d imagine we’d sell for the right money 100%. Hes not on huge wages yet either. These are the kinds of hard calls we’ve failed to make over the years and just shrugged and given a massive deal.

That's my view as well. I think we'll be better for it and I think he'll be a success somewhere else, but he is a bit of a square peg in our current system. The PSR angle makes it very attractive gamble to take, he could fund several transfers if we get a big fee.

If for any reason we sold Mainoo just to make a few quid profit I’d be absolutely done with this club.
We don’t need to sell Mainoo ever!
Yet again a lot of this is just media briefed and directed by the club to mask the real issue which is a lack of actual cash.

This year starts 1st July 2024 until 30th June 2025. The club is investing £50m in Carrington and another £20m in the woman and Youth Set up. Nearly all the academy players sold like McTominay(August), Greenwood(18th July) which is nearly £60m net profit will go into this financial year.

The new three year rolling period which is used for PSR will be 22/23(-29m), 23/24(-113m) and this year probably (-40m) , after looking at the first quarter figures.

This is a three year rolling account period. Sir Jim investment will allow for £90m to be credited back and then £80m credited back in Training ground, lady and youth investment. If you add the £56m of McTominay and Greenwood, plus the £170m you probably have no concerns for PSR this year whatsoever unless the club lose £200m this year on their books!

The real reason they want to sell Rashford, Casemiro, Eriksen and Antony is the hierarchy are desperate to get all big earners gone and the £1m per week they cost in wages removed from the payroll.

The club could then use the £80-90m of cash generated to reinvest in the squad by creating additional working cash flow because there is very little left after the £200m summer investment and the huge Agent Fees Paid? My guess is there might be £20m left and Amorim is asking for at least 2 or 3 players in January?

This!

Mainoo should stay, but Gernacho can go, I just feel his ceiling just a bit higher than Rashford but that's not a great barometer.

We can be much more effective buying a proper No10.

This sudden notion of selling Kobbie or Garna is quite unsettling. They are allegedly supposed to be the future of the club along with Amad and Rasmus. :annoyed:

Its just pure speculation from the media because they are our most sellable assets. We wont sell Mainoo or Garnacho unless we get an insane offer - and neither player has been anywhere near good enough to make anyone offer that amount.

I think they both looked a lot better at Anfield at the weekend. A combination of Amorims cultural improvements, more time on the training ground with better appreciation of their roles and utd getting up for a big game
