Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

Why can we never get our ducks lined up before the windows? We could have framework deals already in place and players moving in or out at the start of the window, getting unwanted players gone as soon as possible and making new players that are desperately needed available for training pretty much immediately.

I know the answer is brinkmanship and trying to get the best possible deal but there are actual points up for grabs now

Bayindir is not too good to be a back-up keeper but yeah let's keep telling that to the world so that we can recoup some of the outlay on him.

We need a solid back-up keeper with potential to eventually takeover from Onana.

I am sure we can find a Heaton replacement in the bargain bin somewhere.

Malacia to Juve, oh interesting tweet… on loan. Cheap feckers. This would mean we are getting another LB though surely if Amass is going out on loan and Shaw is Shaw. Hopefully Nuno Mendez and not Hernandez. Between Shaw and Mendez we should be able to get a full season out of them every year, right?!

This loan business really needs to stop now.

We've been taken for mugs for far too long now, especially by these giant Italian clubs.

Enough is enough. You either pay up now or don't bother at all.

For all the bad that Jim has done.... I really do expect us to be fairly stubborn on these types of deals going forward.

Malacia out would make a lot of sense from our perspective. Even pre-injury, he never gave us anything going forward and that was in a role that wasn't as demanding as what we now require in terms of creativity and penetration.

he's a decent-ish left back but not a wing back, can't play the role at all

He's the perfect squad player for games like the Arsenal one. He's on low wages and seems to have a great mental profile as well.

I get that the fanbase wants to get rid of everyone but there's no real incentive to sell Malacia. What do we even get out of a £5m fee or a 6 month loan? Nothing.

You’re joking right? Have you seen his wages?

Well in theory, if we are starting from zero £5m would get us £25m to spend amortized, that would easily pay for Alvaro Fernandez who is much better suited to that role, in addition right now Malacia is pretty much meh in terms of sale value, what would we get £10-15m with a bit of luck? but if he goes to Italy and impresses for 6 months you could potentially double that, bottom line Malacia just is not that good for us even as a squad option if we have the chance to sell then why not

Why would we sell him? Or especially let him go on loan?
Because he's a really low quality player and presumably one of the few on a relatively modest wage. We should get rid while there's still some interest

I would assume because he's not a particularly good player
He's good enough to be a squad player for a top 6 club. Good defensive asset for specific games or game states where you might need someone like him. His performance vs Saka and Arsenal is a good example. Similar to AWB in that sense and since we don't have the latter anymore to come in and do their job when needed, that's another reason to keep Malacia too.

Good squad building doesn't equal getting rid of every single player that isn't world class.

He wasn't even good before the injury and he's been comically bad since returning. So much so that Dalot looks a good option in his position by comparison.

He's small, weak and doesn't excel at anything. We don't need to carry any passengers and Malacia is probably the most obvious example of one in the entire squad.

He really isn’t. His performance against Saka is the only example. A complete outlier that has not been repeated since, he’s at best a lower mid table premier league player, sadly. I quite like him, he seems a good character, but not remotely of the required quality, if we can get him moved on and it frees a space and wage then it should be done.
