Supposed to be Tier 1 for PSV news.

Arsenal seem to be in pole position to sign Cody Gakpo the PSV attacker. Would be 40M+ which seems a bit pricey for an option on the LW unless he's capable of playing up front

Gakpo is a massive talent. Him and Anthony Gordon of Everton are some of the most underrated players this season. I see him having the same type of impact Diaz has had at Liverpool.

Can understand the Rashford contract because the clubs hands are kinda tied, but we need better than Shaw..

  • Werner's contract lasts until 2025, but Chelsea will be fine with letting him go.
  • Price: €40M
  • Werner's agent, Volker Struth, is in talk with several clubs, including Borussia Dortmund.
    • Dortmund not too convinced on Werner; prefer Adeyemi
  • Werner's salary is a major issue
    • Gross salary (before taxes & other deductions): €16M/year
    • 4th best-paid player in Chelsea behind Lukaku, Havertz, and Kanté

Except Chelsea cannot sell at this point.

This Werner & Lukaku strike force is really a piece of modern art. If Werner is set on a return to Germany Chelsea could really have some trouble offloading him. The only club able to pay the quoted figures is Bayern and they already passed twice on him when he was in form.

Enrique joins Lopetegui in not being interested in the United job. After ten Hag and Pochettino, United are also interested in Nagelsmann but don't expect Bayern Munich to let him go any time soon.

The hunt intensifies!

"It is understood that Manchester United are also monitoring the situation of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, with both managers being said to have admirers within the club, although it is expected that they are not to become available in the summer."

Not sure why? It's been shown that moving to United raises a players profile massively, CL or not.

No offence to Benfica but it wouldn't make sense to turn us down unless another hige club wants him?

South American prefering Spain isn't something new.

Only issue is that those in the CL either don't really need him or can't afford him, Real are going all in for Mbappe (pretty much guaranteed) and maybe Haaland, Barca won't be able to afford him at that price - possible don't really need him with Auba in fine form whilst Atletico have Griezmann who already cost a fortune and I'm assuming the fourth club to achieve CL status in Spain won't be able to afford him.

It's either EPL or stay at Benfica, and if the climate really worries him which wouldn't be surprising if we're being honest then staying at Bemfica will probably be his best bet and wait to become a free for Barca.

It's mostly not even the climate for South American players.
It is just so much easier for them to get to Spain or Portugal from Latin America with all the direct flight options and their families can fly visa free to visit.
Then the obvious language, food and culture similarities are there too.

Is he someone that you'd like to see us sign?

I've never seen him play much so was interested in your opinion if you had seen him play.

Nunez for £60m is overpriced. He’s a good battling striker and can finish but doesn’t have the class for that sort of price. Not technically good enough and either blows really hot or ice cold. That being said, there’s not many obvious striker candidates on the market and lots of them will have inflated prices due to the amount of top teams that need them.

Nunez turning us down for lack of CL is laughable really (if true).

He's young though so possibly becomes more consistent right? How would you compare him to Dusan Vlahovic whose only had one decent season in his career?

Translation + more info:

Pavard at CB would be interesting to see, but I don't know how reliable a defender he is now that he's played at full back for so many years.

I can live with this. I definitively prefer this to signing a somewhat underwhelming RCB/RB like Ginter when we already have Stanisic and Pavard covering the area, I also don't like Pavard in the RB role and hope that this means more chances for Nianzou, with Pavard having to compete for a CB place with Upamecano also in the mix.
In terms of formation, it would mean we see less of the nominal 3 man defense with wingers, instead having at least one of Phonzie or Mazraoui as a dynamic attacking fullback in a 4 man defense.
Will be interesting how Nagelsmann will line up when both play, will he keeps a 4 man defense with two fullbacks high, dissolving the situational asymetric shape that comes with one attacking fullback and one tucking in? Or will he sacrifice an attacker to play 5 nominal defenders? I certainly hope the former. Especially since we won't have exactly the numbers in central defense to keep fielding 3 of them.

When you have players like Upamecano, Stanisic, Pavard, and Lucas Hernandez, wouldn't a back 3 suit them better? Sure, you guys lack the numbers, but a back 4 setup would only expose them further. If you have more midfielders who can apply better pressure and limit the opposition's passing options better, then you can get away with a back 4 with aggressive full backs, but as it stands, Bayern either need to add more numbers to the back or reinforce the midfield with more defensively reliable players.

And the latter is what needs to happen. The return of Goretzka will play a role there, and maybe the rumoured acquisition of Gravenberch aims into the same direction (no idea if it really does that, though). Musiala is also starting to develop this side of his game.
Generally, with Nagelsmann's penchant for stacking the pitch high up with attacking numbers, I think the gap needs to be closed between the forward line and the defense, the midfield needs to cut out the counters. That's why I think it's better to have a 2-3-5 than a 3-2-5 or 3-1-6, because with the latter the opponents will just counter by playing from the midfield into runners wide, and then the additional number at the back, the 3 central defenders, are not really able to help.

Gravenberch is a playmaking midfielder who's better higher up the pitch. He reminds me of Tielemans at the moment, but he might able to develop his defensive game over time.

Oh for sure, he can improve. He’s certainly improving as an out and out goal scorer. I’m just not convinced by his technical ability. That being said, someone like Ruud wasn’t exactly silky and he turned out class for us. His fee back in the day (circa 20m if I recall) probably equates to something similar to 60m these days actually.

Not sure on Vlahovic to be honest. I feel he seems more well rounded than Nunez and better with both feet. I’d have been more comfortable with him for 60m than Nunez but I still have some doubts about him too.

Honestly haven't even seen highlights, just have my doubts a player would reject moving to a huge club based on CL when CL football is mainly for image, when that wouldn't really be a problem at United.

@Ian Reus yeah I know that, maybe PSG would be a choice for him considering they'll be losing Mbappe and possibly Icardi.

That just sounds like fluff to lengthen the article.
