Selling Telles would be a massive feck up. We finally have decent cover for Shaw why are we even thinking about selling?

Might be to do with the wage bill as I've read his wages being reported as £175,000 per week.

Barça have accelerated the negotiation with Atletico Madrid for Griezmann-Saul swap after the agreement reached with Messi. Griezmann will get €13m/season (net) and Saul will get €12m/year(gross) at Barça. Everything is closed and the deal is imminent.

Are Barca subsidizing Griezmann's wages cause that is a huge wage cut?
Again, Barca signing a player for economic reasons not sporting, regardless of whether they fit or not.

Why do people always assume players will get the same money or more if they move? He's probably been told if he stays he'll have to take a wage cut or be sold, Madrid love him and he spent a long time there, he's not going to bankrupt them. Its still a very good wage at his age.
Probably guaranteed playing time too.

He cant be forced to be sold/traded or lower his wages. He has a legally binding contract with Barca.

Didn’t Griezmann have his own program on the telly to personally announce his departure from Atletico back then or something like that? And now he’s going back?

There's zero chance Griezmann is lowering his wage significantly when he holds all the cards. Unless he's an idiot, which to be fair, he kinda is.

Isn't the Sancho deal structured at £15m a year? Surely the club doesn't need to sell to fund a Varane move. After Varane maybe...

Transfer spending each summer is based on the total cost , not the immidiate outlay. Only if clubs want cash up front this has ramifications

As announced by the Spanish press, Antoine Griezmann could very quickly return to Atletico Madrid. Negotiations between Barca and Colchoneros are progressing very well. Two separate transfers with Saul Niguez but which should be settled around the same price.

So the swap will be structured as two separate transfers. Barcelona sure do like that approach (Cillesen-Neto, Arthur-Pjanic).

Think he did that to announce that he was staying, then left the next year anyway.

Why would Griezmann agree to go back to Atletico unless he's being push out? He's still under contract and can absolutely refuse to move yes?

Klopp admires him, but Liverpool aren't targeting him this summer. Tielemans has two years left on his current contract.

He may not want a huge pay cut in his salary, and Atletico might be okay with paying him a large salary.

I don't think he's really liked by Barca fans since he's been there. Imagine if he's the reason they can't renew Messi :nervous:

That is how negotiations work. If you are the buyer, you are broke and you need to sacrifice a lot to purchase. If you are the seller, you don't need money and don't have to sell.

Yeah but we didnt just start buying players this year. It adds up on top of each other
