Tosic - Gone. To CSKA

but some of the things you have said in this thread are confusing and lead me to believe you have barely watched him play at all. Half the player of Cleverley? GTFO.

That's what I thought too.

He's also failed to see that Cleverley is only about 5'9 as well, so not particularly tall either. He just has a slightly better build than Tosic.

Bloody hell. I would put my house on the fact I have seen him play more than either of you, I watch the ressies regularly and I've caught the highlights of most of his international call ups aswell as a few of his games for Koln. This comparison to Modric who is the same build sums it up for me. Modric is making it despite his build because he is leagues and leagues ahead of him in ability. Modric is 24 Tosic is 23. Are you really comparing them?

The comparison with Modric is fair.

You need to consider Tosic played on the left for our reserves, which is like Modric playing on the right. It just doesn't work.

Tosic on the right or through the middle is very different and a much better player.

I fail to see how if you've allegedly watching him so many times that you have only picked up that he has a good set piece and cross. Either you're lying, or are not a particularly insightful observer of a player.

I haven't compared him to Modric at all, so not sure where you're mentioning him in reply to my post. Strange.

He isn't though. Modric is the better player I am not doubting that, but he isn't as inferior to him as you are making out. They are different players in any case so a comparison is a bit strange to make, but Tosic has bags of talent in his locker which has yet to be shown - consistently I might add.

he will go he doesn't want to stay and be a bench-warmer.

Stop talkin utter bollocks.

Modric is a mile ahead of him. He is better now than Tosic will be at the peak of his career. He has been the creative focal point of a tram that has just qualifed for the champions league in the most competetive league in the world. Tosic on the other hand has looked like an average player in the reserve league.

What basis are you using to back up your claim of this huge potential? Are you a top European coach or something? We've all seen flashes of great play from many average players, look at Richardsons development here, most thought he was the next Giggs at 18 or 19. Consistancy is what makes a great player and he has never shown it.

Zoran Tosic is not a Manchester United quality player. If he was playing at Dulham and we were linked to him you'd all be crying about the lack of quality we are linked with these days and talking about the debt.

feck off mate, I have watched a lot more of Tosic than you and what I said is that he isn't leagues and leagues behind Modric because he isn't. Tosic has better dribbling than Modric for a start, but Modric is simply better in consistently doing the simple things well. I never argued that Modric wasn't better he is, but not to the extent you describe.

You basically seem to ignore the impact he has made in the Bundesliga in 12 games. Twat.

You've also proven that all you do is base your 'theories' on Tosic being shit on the reserves. Do you seriously think that's the best he has to offer?

So basically, Tosic = Serbian and Modric = Croatian. Also, vuc = Serbian.

Serbia > Croatia; Tosic > Modric ; vuc > Modric ; vuc > other non-Serbian posters.

The real question is vuc > Tosic or vuc < Tosic

One of the stupidest posts i've ever read.

I agree with this.
I think Tosic can succeed at United with some work anyone who says he isn't or won't be is talking shit as we have had worse players here. I think there are few people here in the position to pass proper judgement on him.

I agree, I'm giving my opinion which is a stark contrast to vuc who has high hopes for his country man (what a surprise :)).

The only people who can really pass judgement are the United coaching staff and the coaches at Koln.

The United coaching staff obviously have no faith in him.

While FC Koln, 13th in the Bundesliga, want to keep him and he would like to stay there.

That just about says it all really doesn't it?

Agree my arse. Of course I want him to succeed, that isn't the issue here. You are discrediting him thinking he is half the player of Cleverley when Tosic has done more than him at a higher level. Can you see my point?

So I guess the coaches are right all the time? Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Miller etc.. Speaking of the coaches, I would be interested in hearing what they have to say on Tosic after his spell at Koln.

Well I am sure if he plays well at the World Cup and a better side go in for him, you will still not be happy, we'll have to see I guess.

Are you still harping on about that "half the player" line? it's a figure of speech which implies I do not think he is as good. It doesn't mean he has 50% of the ability so forget about it.

Yes the coaches are right 99% of the time. Hence why Djemba Djemba and Kleberson are no longer at this club and they are fantastic examples. Tosic is going down the same road as them. 10/10 for bringing them into it.

This is a bit presumptuous, isn't it?

Presume is all we can do as neither you, I or vuc are at Carrington each day. I think 5 "appearances" including the League Cup and a substitue run out against bottom of the table West Brom when they were down to 10 men and we were 3-0 up says alot though.

I'd say it was more the scouts who were wrong in those situations, coaches seemed to have down pretty well as all three of them didn't last very long at United or get that many games.

Hard not to harper on about it after you mentioned it twice. (rephrased I might add).

How much game time did they get though? I would call Tosic a flop my self if he got that much game time and proved nothing, yet when he plays (be it for NT or Koln) he does well and has proved he is a good enough player to warrant those chances.

As I have said before, I want the coaching staff/SAF to point out why Tosic never got a chance. I don't care if they have to spell it out, I would like an explanation as I am sure other people here would..

Tosic is quality and needs to return to OT immediately after the WC, which is what I suspect will happen.

We need an explanation regarding Manucho as well.

When's your next meeting with SAF? Just curious.

Probably better to go. Sadly, it seems he will never get a fair shot in the first team.

No one thought Richardson was the next Giggs.

You need an explanation? Really?

I can give it to you now. They didn't think he was up to playing for United's first team. There's no need for conspiracy theories when the answer is staring you in the face.

However, he's done well on loan and it's quite possible his game has gone up a notch. If he has a good WC he might force his way into our plans for next season.

Slovenia striker Milivoje Novakovic claims Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic wants permanent FC Koeln move
Teammate says Serbian is keen to leave Old Trafford…

By Danny Hart
FC Koeln striker Milivoje Novakovic has claimed Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic is keen on a permanent move to Germany.

The 23-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the German outfit to gain first-team experience but now looks likely to join them on a permanent basis.

Tosic, who is set to feature for Serbia at the World Cup, has failed to break into the first team at Old Trafford since joining the Red Devils 18 months ago and Novakovic says he wants to rejoin FC Koeln in the summer.

Novakovic told the Express: “Zoran has called me. He told Manchester that he wants only to Cologne. He feels well, therefore, there may be another chance.

"During the World Cup he will probably not play from the start but I do keep my fingers crossed and hope he comes back to FC!”

Tosic has made just five appearances since moving to Old Trafford from Partizan Belgrade in 2009 and is yet to start a game for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

They simply don't have the money. Apparently we're looking for around 6-7 Million Euros and Koeln are unable to raise that much. Let's hope he'll feature in the World Cup and he either gets a chance at Old Trafford or can be sold to a club in a better financial state. Tosic himself said in a German newspaper he doesn't know whether Koeln can pay his salary.

I can't really believe the spasticness in this thread. Tosic has proven that he deserves at least a chance to play...

We will wait and see how he does in the WC, even though if he doesn't do well, it doesn't mean that Tosic isn't a good player.

He should at least get the same chances Obertan had last season.

feck my arse for those saying that he wants to stay at Kohn... he already quoted that he would like a chance for 1st team football with us.

Why is the discussion of size always the main reason on the forums. Messi is a midget, so was Maradone, so was Zola etc.... Size means nothing in this game, its about consistency and end product and it is also about how the team plays and if a player suits the team.

ManUtd have always played with 2 traditional wingers and there is no reason to let the Serbian Tosic go as Giggs is just about ready to retire and Park is virtually better as a behind the striker role now so we only have Nani/Valencia/Obertan/ who have at least had first team football last season. So I'd say Tosic/Obertan/Cleverly are ones for the future and there is no harm to keep them here as all have good potential and if 1 out of the three actually make it, I'd be totally happy.

You can argue all you like that we are a side that are looking for the CL and PL, but do not underestimate SAF... Who says you cannot win with kids ?

partially true. If you are small, you need to be superlative (i mean world class, off the charts type levels) in another area of the game....this is obvious with players like messi, aaron lennon, michael owen (pace, movement, finishing), xavi, iniesta, maradona, even evra and scholes who are short.

tosic is an average to above average winger, who really doesn't have any stand-out talents to compensate for this lake of size and more importantly strength in the english game. He is not overly quick (actually he is quite slow for a winger IMO), he's not two footed all that much, he doesn't have park-like work rate and tackling.....its just an average to possibly above average skillset.

Judging by his reserve performances, or his latest Bundesliga outings ?

that article is 2 days old and there has been no further news on it ..
they seem confident on that site tho .. there is another article saying he is the 4th most expensive signing coming into russia from outside @9.7m euros

Tosic is a decent winger and I wouldn't mind seeing him getting a real chance at United. Stating that if he wants to leave then I understand him and we should let him go. There is no point in keeping an unhappy player with us, expecially if he is not highly considered by the manager/coaching staff.

It's in the German press too... not sure whether they rely on Russian sources or not, but to me it seems they do... £8m would be a very good deal for us IMHO.

Just did some research, Cologne's manager Meier has already admitted 'defeat' in this transfer saga, they simply do not have the money to compete with Russian clubs. Maybe there is some substance in this rumour.

So the Krasic to united rumour was possibly true..

What makes you think of that? Krasic may be bound to Shitty/Juventus with Tosic seen as his replacement. That doesn't mean that Krasic will end up at OT.
