Toni Kroos

Kroos and Schneiderlin would be a good combination. Kroos as deep-lying playmaker and Schneiderlin being our "Kante".

We need a midfielder with pace who's willing to dribble and run past opposition players in midfield. Our midfield at present are too one paced and mechanical (too obvious).

Hmm, PSG, Pep's City or signing on with Van Gaal the clown to be played out of position or benched for Fellaini? However will he choose? :/

I completely agree with this. Someone who can drive us forward. Iniesta is obviously one of the all-time greats but his dribbling, ability to run with the ball was as important as Xavi's ability to dictate play when Barca were dominating everything in sight from 2009-2011.

Although with Carrick apparently moving on, we could do with a Kroos in midfield. A midfield three of Kroos-Morgan-Herrera would look tasty.

With the non existent movement in our side and especially the lack of quality wingers, he'd be left to just pass sideways.

Rather get someome more dynamic like Gundogan.
Gundogan would be my first choice but I am not sure what are our chances of landing him. Madrid and even Barca would come calling once he decides to move and currently we just cannot compete with them for players.

Gundogan is my first choice as well, and has been for a while.
He can both dribble past players and be a playmaker from deep.

We should have gotten him last year, now I fear he is out of reach.

Yeah, no arguments there. Both clubs might be in for a CM of his quality and you just don't get/keep a player once one of them want him.

Last year I was not sold on him as he was just back from a long injury - no the impact types either. This year my muppet list would be Gundagon, Stones/Laporte and Griezmann with Fellaini leaving.

I agree Gündogan would be an ideal partner for Schneiderlin imo but it will be hard to get him. Every top club in Europe will be after him with just one year left on his contract.

I would prioritise a more skillful and dynamic midfielder, but buying Kroos on top of it would do us no harm.

I kind of imagining him looking a lot like Schweinsteiger in our current set up. Shame, he's a wonderful footballer.

He shopping himself around last year to quite a few clubs but no one wanted to pay him what he and his agent thought he deserved.
Something tells me City will give him the $$$ he asks for, plus they have Pep which is attractive to him.

The only way he will get him is if we offer an outrageous amount or we beat City to the last Champions league spot.

If we're sticking with 4-2-3-1 kroos will be perfect next to Morgan. Not sure if kroos will jump on board the city train after leaving bayern for real when pep was about. A lot depends on Real too I predict a shock galactico being culled in James, not sure if they will let two go. If we get Jose in as manager I think Pogba is more his type of player

Gundogan it seems is going to city with the telegraph reporting today his agent has met with city

Schneiderlin - Kroos
Memphis - Pogba - Martial
Zlatan

I actually think he'd be a very good signing if possible.

This would be very strange (from PSG) considering they have a better version of him in Verratti.

Unless...
Maybe the're planning on getting him to replace Motta, especially if Pogba moves to La Liga.

----------Matuidi----------Kroos
-------------------Verratti
with Rabiot in as cover/rotation. Though that midfield does seem to lack a bit of creativity though.

But yeah, Verratti, I'd wager, is absolutely not for sale. He's probably my favorite CM.

That midfield looks great to dominate possession but Kroos is a pretty huge downgrade physically and in terms of defensive abilities compared to Motta.

I'd be very worried about the defensive stabilitym

Agreed. It would depend on their roles I guess - both Matuidi and Verratti are hard workers who get around the pitch well.

You could probably get either Matuidi or Verratti to play a bit deeper - but yeah, those 3 do lack a natural "DM". There's also little creativity IMO, but yeah, they'd be very difficult to dominate against for any team.

Last year I said we should take the risk and get Güdogan for realtive small Money but Woody and LvG did not listen to me so feck them.

This year I say Kroos might be a good Option to consider.

The Problem is we are in a Position where we first have to wait what some of the other Clubs will do as we are down in the pecking order for most Players at the Moment.
I could imagine Real going for Gündogan or even Verratti which would mean Kroos is Surplus (or maybe he already is).
Gündogan might have some other Options as well. I could even see him moving to Bayern as he is better than anything the have right now in midfield. Kroos on the other Hand does not have too many Options if he leaves Real.
In Spain there are no alternatives. Bayern won`t take him back I guess.
There are a lot of reports that Guardiola wants to bring him to City. However, the same rumours could have been read about Alaba, Thiago, even Messi.
Taking Thiago with him would make more sense as he seems to rate him more than Kroos. At least this was my Impression.

Kroos - Schneiderlin - Herrera could be an interesting combination.

Reading this thread you would think people here are talking about Barry instead of Kroos

PSG enquire for Toni Kroos

According to RMC, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has asked his agents to open discussions with interested parties as he becomes more and more frustrated with his playing time situation at the Spanish side.

One of the interested sides is PSG. Talks have already taken place between Toni Kroos’s entourage and the Ligue 1 champions, with the German player’s people apparently responding to the club’s overtures.

Real Madrid will not let the player go for anything less than €45m, they informed PSG of this when Nasser Al Khelaifi and Florentino Perez met in November 2015 to discuss the situations of various players, when Real Madrid played PSG in the Champions League Group Stage.

According to sources close to the player, Toni Kroos is interested in the PSG project: “PSG already wanted to sign him before he went to Madrid. The club has a magnificent project, undoubtedly one of the most attractive in Europe.”

However, PSG are not alone in the Toni Kroos hunt. Both Manchester clubs are also surveying the situation, with Manchester United ready to offer €50m to sign the player in the summer, according to the report.

Pep Guardiola has already sent Txiki a shortlist of players who correspond to his style of play to sign in the summer for Manchester City and Toni Kroos was on that list.

I don't believe this. Just because his partner is the better and flashier Modric, Kroos, the player stylistically closest to Scholes is now being compared to Gareth Barry?!?

he's shocking mobility wise. Certainly don't want, would rather Xhaka/Andre Gomes

EDIT: or Kante:drool:

He's a natural at all 3 midfield positions, though I personally like him as a deep-ish 10.
Schneiderlin as the DM with Herrera and Kroos ahead would be the best midfield in the league by a mile.

He has a wonderful turn under pressure, crazy long pass accuracy, great control, and good shooting from the edge of the box.

Edit: not that he would be tempted by United, or Mourinho by him...

He was on Ferguson's wants list, right? That's why Moyes chased him when he arrived at the club?

He's a very good player but wouldn't help us at all, as many here have noted.

Indeed but a lot are wanting a dynamic and energetic midfielder (understandably so) which is the type of player Jose wouldn't use in cm (double pivot).

Exactly. With Motta declining and entering his last season next year we would do well to look for a replacement right now. We've been linked with a €100m offer for Busquets but Barca doesn't seem interested.

It's not like there's a wealth of better players than Kroos on the market. The alternative would be one of the CM wonderkids but they are unproven at top level and tend to be very expensive (and we already have Rabiot).

The Trapp recruitment was also a way to open us the German player market. We're good at stuff like that.

I like Kroos. Maybe he's a good fit for us or maybe not but this thread really is a joke... I mean comparing him to Barry?

If Jose is okay, so am I. But looking at our personnel, he would just not add anything to what we already have.
