Toni Kroos

If we would throw him in now in this team beasides Fellaini or Carrick, we would get picked apart and he would play like Schweinsteiger basically. Kroos is a very good player in a good setup, but not for us currently.

I really wouldnt have a problem with him in a midfield 3 if the other 2 players have good engines. He isnt bad defensively, but he isnt great either. Physically he is quite weak and slow, the PL would expose that. If we would build the team around him, with his passing and vision, decent shot technique too, that could work. But we have far more important issues with/in the team currently.

After that kind of season we'll probably be pursuing players to pretty much every formation except GK so that thing you say about Kroos having energetic players around him could be not far from reality as Carrick, Fellaini and perhaps even Mata may not be here next season.

Played as a 10 and a deep-lying playmaker. Was usually in CM at Barca though. Xavi, Deco and Toure with Iniesta on the wing

So he played the role Iniesta has now at Barca? Like a AM. I didn't realize he'd ever played as a deep lying playmaker though.

Kroos is also more of a 10. Certainly not a 6 as he is used at RM right now, like you said he isn't good enough defensively to play the role Alonso did.

I said when it first came out that he was unhappy at Real, to get anything out of him you need to build a midfield around him with 2 hard working CM's to protect him, like Kante and Drinkwater as an example.

Would be delighted to see that, even if we dont go after Kroos. Not a big fan of players needing other players around them to perform, but Kroos would be worth a try. We definately need someone to control the midfield and tempo. Dont think he will move though, Mourinho would be our only plus point.

Please take him.

 Yes please. It's totally unrealistic to think he would move here. He's fine in Madrid and I think Chelsea or City would be his first choice. I think City would love to replace Yaya and Chelsea likes having a great central piece in their midfield by tradition (Ballack, Lampard, Di Matteo, Mikel, Makelele, Deschamps etc).

On top of that we would probably need to fork out crazy money like 35-40m pounds for a midfielder of that quality.

Would take him in a heartbeat. Was it true that Moyes had him lined up for the summer before LVG came in and scuppered the deal?

He's not coming to United without Champions league football.

We're not gonna be playing it.

I can't be bothered to start a topic on it but the whole new Caf mantra of "He wont come here without CL football" is grating.

Some players wont if they are short sighted and others wont if they are happy at their club that is in the CL already. However if presented to them right Manchester United managed by Jose Mourinho and assembling a vibrant young squad will see plenty of players be willing to wait an extra season IMO.

I grant you that if we continue the absence from the CL then a blip will become seen as the norm, however I don't think we are there just yet and many of our own fans seem to downplay the clubs attractiveness.

All the temper tantrums thrown when subbed and the fact that he was sold under Pep's reign. Just took the hint from those.
The decision for him to be sold was made by the board, not by Pep. He wanted to keep him. I don't know if they were BFFs but there haven't been any indications for problems between them.

I really like this guy, he's great, but I don't think he fits the English game at all.

Id take him but we would have to get Mata out the side as I don't think we could play the two of them in the same side without lacking being lightweight in the middle.

We'd have to get 2 players to protect him in midfield ala Pirlo imo

Not worth it. Doubt Mourinho would be interested in him too.

Im not saying we are going to get Kroos but Kroos will be a dream additional to the team. People are forgetting the class of Carrick and Scholes partnership in 2006/2007 and both of them are not great defensively neither need protection in that season when they are good in their positioning. With Carrick who is aging and losing his consistency to deliver in a top performance now our midfield is clueless when they are on the ball. Either because the tactic is wrong or the players can't dictate a tempo but player like Kroos will be a great signing for our centr mid.

Doesn't matter. Our most expensive signing ever joined without CL football and he didn't even want to join, still did.

And left as soon as he could.

A player like Kroos will likely have many more suitors, and wont join a club he doesnt want to.

And Di Maria was joining a team that had missed their first UCL in almost two decades. This is a United side that has missed out in 2 of the last 3 seasons, and the one time they did make it, we got knocked at the first hurdle.

The only thing we can offer right now is money. Cant offer players trophies or playing with elite teammates. Ambitious players will think long and hard before joining. You mostly end up with the mercenaries in that case.

You think United won't be able to compete next season for the title? Take away our mandatory 6-10 injuries every game and we'd be ahead of City. Leicester and Spurs are at the top and next season will be different. Every single season since SAF left has been different than the one before. Chelsea beat a good City team by 8 points and this season found themselves in the relegation zone with the manager fired. What does that tell you? It tells you one thing, that the players mentality is the most important thing and it's been sorely lacking this season.

Di Maria joined us for one reason or another and left as well. While he was here his attitude was unprofessional and his performance was poor. Had he done what he was brought into do it would have made a huge difference because a player of his caliber performing as well as he can will elevate the performance of those around him.

United the club isn't in a horrible state. What's been lacking this season are the most important things in football. Fitness and good mentality. Players have been unlucky because many of the injuries have haven't during challenges in game. The mentality will most likely change with a different manager and it will remain to be seen how effective that change will be.

If an offer is accepted by Real Madrid from Manchester United for Kroos what will he see? He'll see the biggest club in England, one of the biggest clubs in the world with the biggest fan base and the biggest stadium in England that's always full coming after him and what they can offer is as good as salary or better than any other club in the world. The facilities are top notch, the expectations and ambition is high. What more can you ask for?

I think he'd be great in a 4-1-4-1 alongside Schneiderlin and Herrera if Schneiderlin regains his best form.

We need a passer from the midfield and Kross can be that player. Have huge concerns about his mobility and desire, though.

Kroos' nick name in some parts of Germany's football fans is 'Querpass-Toni' which roughly translates into 'sideway-passing Toni'. That's why he'd fit so well to a LvG side.

If reports are true that Mourinho will be your new boss, I can't see him wanting Kroos as part of your team.
