Tom Ince

I think they sold Ince and are now buying him back. It's comedy stuff.

I think his contract ran out and he didnt re-sign. They got compensation off Blackpool because he was under a certain age.

Got £250,000 compensation for Ince. He wanted a senior contract, say around 20-30k per week so we saved that money while he went practicising with some other club. To top it off we put a 35% buy back clause so his £6m fee will be £4m.

A circus we have been over the last couple of years, no one can deny that. And I don't think Ince is all that as a player either, but by heck do we need someone taking the load off Sterling and not costing us £20m like Downing. :(

Sturridge is a weird one. Needs to hit the ground running, could be our Defoe or could be our Borini.

Don't rate Sturridge, but he'll surely give them some extra goals.

Sturridge is wank, Ince has played 6 months in the Championship.

They're miles away from top 4.

For sure, pissing more money away. Could you imagine Sturridge and Suarez up front. Two of the most greedy ball hogs in world football.

Will be hilarious.

Don't think buying back Ince is funny tbh.

It would be similar to us buying back Rossi, or a Morrison/pogba if he sorts out his attitude.

Not really. Rossi has proven himself in a top league over several leagues and internationally and he didnt want to stay because we brought in another striker, Tevez.

Morrison has clear off the field and behaviour problems.

Ince left on a free, looking for assurances of first team football. And well he should when the likes of Downing are playing game after game and people even utter his name in the same sentence as Messi. Ince has now proven himself in the championship. It would still be a big step up for him. From the matches I've seen he's still quite raw and wasteful.

Watched Ince for a couple of full Blackpool games recently, and I am not all wworried about Pool signing him.

Yea seen him only two games but enough to suggest he is nothing special. Could still be a decent player, mind.

O god I misread Paul Ince, I thought to myself three midfielders Ince - Scholes - Giggs huh! Sweet memories...

How could you put a 35% buy back clause into a contract of someone who can sign for whoever he wants to because his deal has run out? It's nonsense.

Think they get some sort of sell on clause as part of compensation for young players.

Doubt it'd be 35% though.

Sturridge is a decent signing for a club of that quality, haven't seen enough of Ince to comment but encouraging early progress by Liverpool if true.

Not quite. It is funny because Liverpool deemed him not good enough for them. Rossi was a talent that we had to let go because he wasn't near the first team and wasted in reserves. Pogba will never return and Morrison I can only hope he sorts himself out and returns home. So yes, if we went back and spent £10m plus on Morrison then that might be comparable but for different reasons.

No. Ince wanted regular football, and left for another club somewhat like Pogba and Rossi.

Liverpool wanted to give him a new contract, but he first wanted assurances like Pogba did allegedly and wanted to play regularly.

All this does is reiterate how bad of a manager Dalglish actually was

I think the likes of Rossi & Pogba could do a good job in the Prem. I'm not so sure about Ince though. I reckon he's found his level in The Championship.

Can't be worse than Downing... :p

A bit harsh that.
He might not have been PL material back then so Dalglish was going to bring someone else in anyway. Now he has proved himself in the championship and is probably ready for a midtable PL side now.

Think they'll be good signings at that money and wages.

Blackpool manager Michael Appleton has denied speculation a deal has been agreed to take Thomas Ince back to Liverpool.
Ince only left Anfield 18 months ago for a nominal fee, but has impressed with his form at Bloomfield Road, where he has scored 13 goals in 21 games this season.

But his manager insists the two sides are not close to agreeing a transfer despite suggestions otherwise.

Appleton told BBC Radio: "I think there's been a conversation between (chairman) Karl Oyston and Liverpool about an offer.

"But as far as I'm aware, it's way below the type of money we'd expect for someone of Tom's talent."

Appleton said he would have no problem starting the youngster over the hectic Christmas period, despite the 20-year-old struggling with a hamstring injury.

"He'll continue to play as long as we hold his registration," Appleton said.

"I wouldn't say I'm resigned to losing him just yet though. There's still a lot of work that we feel has to be done before anything like that happens."

Appleton dismissed any notion the speculation might unsettle Ince, whose father Paul also played for Liverpool.

"He's a down-to-earth, sensible young lad," he said.

"Having someone like his dad in his family, who has been a footballer himself and knows the ups and downs of the game, I'm sure he'll put a decent performance in (against Wolves on Friday).

"I just want to make sure that he's fully concentrating on training and games. If he does that, I'll leave him be.

"He knows where my office is and he knows that if he wants to speak to me at any time, that's not a problem."

If I recall correctly Adam Johnson was scoring that many and assisting plenty more at Boro before for half a season when City signed him. So its been done.

13 league goals from midfield is not to be sniffed at. Good signing at that money.

Graham Dorrans looked like a star for WBA in the championship and scored around 18 goals with as many assists in the 09/10 season. That form didn't transpire into Premiership form, it's a completely different challenge.

Reading apparently offered a club record fee for him yesterday.

Liverpool didn't want to pay more, and are holding out till the summer.

To quote a great man "do you want to be a statistic or do you want to be a legend?"

Zaha has more greatness about him.

how about a midfielder? we are not short of fecking wingers at all.

Whats the point in buying a winger when its clear to all that we need to address the midfield with any money we may have.

yeah lets keep buying kids with potential for " next year" while we continue getting shit on week in week out by teams with half decent midfielders.

and since when is Tom fecking Ince a TOP english talent?

He was released by Liverpool and has had a few good weeks with a championship side and now he is a TOP talent. Right so.

Looking back on it, what you were arguing against has happened but with Zaha instead of Ince, for more or less the same reasons posted on the first page. Do you still think this has come at the expense of us signing a midfielder, or that we still couldn't use the extra cover out wide?

We should sign him as well. Good player.

Still missed a few good chances. But unlike previous u21 matches, also managed to take a few as well
