Tom Ince

If I remember rightly, he wanted guarantees of 1st team football. Considering we've got quite a few talented youngsters coming through, he was never going to get it.

I'm pleased he's done well at Blackpool. Jon Jo Shelvey had a successful loan spell there last year & has come back a better player. He's certainly worth a punt. But it's a massive leap from playing in The Championship to playing for a side that regularly challenges for one of the biggest leagues in the world. Like Shelvey though, he's got bags of confidence, so I doubt he'd be fazed at all by playing in front of 76,000 people every other week. In fact it could be the making of him.

Interesting really. It's hard at this age because he could be the next young English talent...or he could be the next Jenas/Reo Coker.

Valencia replaced Ronaldo good but there is the drop on quality for everyone to see. If him will replace Nani the same thing is going to happen, and I am a little afraid that we are doing the same thing as Pool did, replacing great players with players that are one-level above. In fact if we sell Nani, then I would like to go for someone like Muniain or Goetze, not Ince.

I don't think there's no that we'll replace Nani(whether he goes) with Tom Ince. The fact that we were looking at Lucas or Hazard in the summer tells me that we were looking at a special talent.

Tom Ince could be a very good player, english and since his contract will expire in next june, would be available cheap.

He could well be worth a gamble sure...as folk say it is very difficult to assess what he might develop into. If the fee is cheap we have little to lose.

I can see why folk are nervous about the link with him and the noise about Nani leaving mind. It might be a case 2+2=5, but it's not beyond the realms of all belief.

Can we not get him for free in January?

Nah mate, we'll look for top quality. Fergie bloody loves his wingers.

I've never seen him play, but I'd take him on a free or for a couple of mill, he could turn out decent. If we were going for a winger then I'd want Rodriguez, not at the expense of Nani though.

The difference is that ROnaldo was world class and couldn't be replaced as there were noone better in his position.

Nani - is talented but nowhere near world class - and can be replaced - if we are willing to spend some cash

Yes, but with whom will replace is a really important matter. Rodriguez, Goetze and Muniain would be good replacements, Ince I doubt it. So, signing him to replace him IMO would be a decrease in quality for our team. Signing him as a squad players, I dunno but we have 3 wingers right now and with many other selections we could use, and Kagawa who can play in the wing I am really finding difficult to understand how can he have a place here.

Funny to say that with Nani out of favor, Young injured and Valencia just back. A fourth winger would be nice, especially if Rooney is going to keep playing deep. I know nothing about Ince other than the 1-2 games I've seen, but signing a young player with potential is always good.

A fourth winger is needed only if SAF decides that he's going to play almost all games with 4-4-2 formation.

Perhaps the reason we changed our formation is because we had no fit wingers?

Just keep an open mind.

It could be, though I think that we changed formation because we were overruned in midfield in every match when opponents played with three midfielders.

There are less and less quality players out there. You better adjust your idea of United quality.

That's really not true. There are loads of good players our there. Fergie has never just settled with a player because there's nothing better out there, all the players he bought were ones he believed were good enough. With exception of a few.
Bloody hell if you watch la Liga you'll see some very special players out there.

Playing for the England U21s now on ESPN - just had a one-on-one with the keeper but his touch let him down.

Playing very well, finishing could be more ruthless.

Same was said about Welbeck.Point is if young players aren't going to be given an opportunity to learn and improve then there's no hope.

Ince strkes me as a player who'll come on in leaps and bounds for the experience

Very good strike goes narrowly wide.

Mail reporting that Liverpool put in a £5m bid after releasing him on a free last year

Honestly, you lot are looking at a Liverpool reject? Admittedly he had some good games in the academy/reserves but he had more than his fair share of bad ones. Any attempt at promoting him to first team saw spectacular failure (think Nemeth, El Zhar). A bit lacking in game intelligence. Better defenders knew he would regularly cut inside and crowded him out. He was very reluctant to get to the bye-line.

The reason we eventually let him go was the baggage (yes his dad) indirectly pushing for him to be in the first team. His head got too big and we got rid. Ferguson could work on him but with his dad around it would be time-consuming, specially considering you have other areas for your manager to be concentrating on.

Edit: Nate Dogg - no he can't play central midfield by any stretch of the imagination.

You would be happy to know that Tony Barrett of Times is claiming that Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Tom Ince.

Rory Smith from the times saying the deals for him and Sturridge to Liverpool are done.

18m for the pair.

Would be good deals for Liverpool. Downing out for those two - definitely make them more of a threat. If they can get a finisher - then it won't be long till they're knocking on the top 4 door again.

The fact they released him as well makes it all the more funny.
