Tom Ince

Tbf England were playing a weakened Sweden U21.

Blackpool have given Tom Ince permission to discuss a loan move to a Premier League club, understood to be Swansea.

Ince, who turns 22 later this week, is out of contract at the end of the season, and there had been speculation he would see out his time at Bloomfield Road before moving on in the summer.

However, Sky sources understand Swansea will have to fight off another four Premier League clubs before securing his signature after Crystal Palace, Hull, Stoke and Sunderland declared their interest in the attacking midfielder.

In a statement, Blackpool said: "Following discussions with Thomas Ince and his representative, permission has been given for Thomas to discuss a loan move to a Premier League club.

"Thomas has expressed his ambition to play in the Premier League for the remainder of the season, a decision that the club fully understands and supports."

Ince has made 12 appearances for the England U21 side and is Blackpool's leading scorer with seven goals in the Championship this season.

I know his dad's just been sacked and his contract's running out, but why wouldn't they just sell him now? Surely they'd get a better price than any loan fee they might be getting?

Suppose if the loan goes well they'll be able to get a larger fee for him? Risky move if that's the case.

Good player, better than Zaha in my view. He should do well at Swansea.

His contract's up in the summer, isn't it? So they'll get no fee at all.

Utter spatics (the club). Could have got 7million for him not so long ago.

That being said Id seriously question his mentality looking at his performances this season. Compared to the last 18months hes been terrible lately.

Maybe they reckon they can get more from a tribunal than by selling him outright now?

Fair enough. I had thought the tribunals only applied to younger players. The tribunals are often for lower fees, though, aren't they?

Not really. They accepted offers for him last summer and he refuesed to leave, not exactly their fault.

Any English club would have to pay a fee even in the summer. It'll go to the tribunal. They'll get a few million for him

I don't even know if a tribunal even applies here, just trying to think of a logical reason why they may try and cling on to him. Tribunal fees do tend to be low but it would be higher than they can get right now I'd imagine.

I think tribunal fee's are for players 24 and under, so Blackpool will qualify for something.

Chucked his toys out the pram and turned up for Saturday's game at 2:30pm, so obviously wasn't included in the squad.

Been in Stoke today for talks according to the BBC.

What the hell were Blackpool playing at with this one? In a month Ince's contract expires with Inter Milan offering him a contract. Surely they could have got a good amount of money for him a year or 18 months ago when he was linked to some good premier league clubs?

Paul Ince. He wasn't going to sign his son down to a long contract or sell him. He was happy to let him leave on a free at the end of the year. Paul isn't going to care what money Blackpool get for him, and he was sacked too so it was good thinking for Tom's benefit.

But how? Teams like Liverpool were interested if Blackpool were going to accept the money offered. It might not have been megabucks but its a lot more than a tribunal will give them

I suppose a free transfer gives Tom a bigger signing on fee so Paul Ince was. Thinking he gets his son more money rather than Blackpool? Is that was @limerickcitykid was getting at?

Tom Ince: Why I had to turn down £8m Cardiff City move

The Blackpool winger says turning down the Bluebirds 'seemed like the right thing to do' as he refuses to rule out joining another Premier League club this summer

Blackpool winger Tom Ince has revealed 'gut instinct' told him to turn down an £8m move to Cardiff City this summer.

England under-21 international Ince cited a desire to stay close to his family in the north-west as one of the main factors in his decision, but he has not ruled out moving to another club in the transfer window if the right offer comes along.

Ince travelled to the Welsh capital to meet Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay earlier this month, eventually turning down the Premier League new-comers despite financial terms being agreed.

And now he insists he has no regrets over telling Mackay 'No' .

"It looks increasingly like I’ll be starting the new season in the Championship, rather than the Premier League. No complaints from me on that score, despite some people feeling I may have taken a gamble by turning down the chance to sign for newly-promoted Cardiff City," he wrote in a Daily Mail newspaper column

"I certainly didn’t see it as a gamble when I returned home from South Wales the other Monday night and phoned my dad (Blackpool manager Paul Ince) to say I was staying. It just felt the right thing to do, after weighing up all the pros and cons.

"The decision was nothing against Cardiff or their manager Malky Mackay, who is a top, top bloke. He phoned my dad to begin with and showed a lot of interest in taking me to Cardiff. I respect the way he went about it, and that’s why I went down there, to have a look at the club and speak to Malky face to face.

"There was plenty to take on board. I have been playing for England under-21s, and if I am under consideration for the senior squad, might not a Premier League platform help make it happen? Especially in a World Cup season.

"On the other hand, I’m still very young. At 21, I’m still learning the ropes and developing, and I’m also thoroughly enjoying my football at Blackpool. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my team-mates, Ian Holloway, who brought me here, and our fans.

"On top of that, all my family are in the north-west, not least the little baby girl whose recent arrival means I’ve now got a young family of my own to think of.

"Malky has done magnificent things for Cardiff, and I wish them all the very best in the Premier League, but I had to conclude I would not be going there with them. Sometimes, you have to follow your instinct, and my gut feeling was that it just wasn’t right for me.

"Who knows what might happen between now and the transfer window closing? I am ambitious about playing at the highest level I can, but I’m content in the knowledge time is on my side and I can afford to wait and see what develops.

"If the window passes without a move, I will have no problem knuckling down to another Championship campaign at Bloomfield Road."

The club did accept offers, and this is going back to last summer, but he was just stalling, waiting for other offers.
The blame lies with Karl Oyston the chairman. He doesn't do long term contracts with any of the players and instead offers them one year rolling contracts. The club were wrong to appoint Paul Ince in the first place and it just shows how much he has a influence on him. But the way they have both acted in the run up to his dad's sacking was a disgrace.

Paul Ince was travelling to Monaco with his agent to discuss a pre contract agreement when he should have been at the training ground with the team. Even Stoke city had offered to buy Tom Ince in January, Blackpool again accepted the fee but he instead wanted a 'loan option only' hence why he went to palace so he could walk out for nothing. He's been dictating his next move out of spite ever since they sacked his dad.

In essence, it's everything that was said above. Blackpool even had a replacement lined-up in anticipation of Ince's exit.

Paul Ince is going to f*ck up his son's career for a shot of getting some good money into the family. Shame because Tom actually has some decent talent.

Tom will stagnate at Inter, and his chance to join a top four outfit are now lost as Liverpool were the only club that would have taken him. And now we don't need him. More importantly, we don't need the stress that is called Ince Snr.

Don't see him as any better than Downing. I'll be amazed if he's a success at Inter...

He's somewhat worse than Downing. Downing wasn't actually that bad a player, year to year his form could go either brilliant or awful, but at his best he was actually a good player if never good enough for the very top teams - i'd be very surprised if Ince ever reaches that level. I'd say he's more like a Wayne Routledge, a decent player who at his best could be a handy player for a lower table side, but that's about it. I'd be surprised if he doesn't return to England within the year

People loved to bring up Ince when talking about Zaha. How Ince was more talented. Nobody talked about how Ince did very little for Palace. Scored one goal early on but barely featured for much of the time he was there. I know there wasn't a big transfer fee to beat him with but it does put into perspective a bit the expectations people had of Zaha and Ince. Shows just how big the step up is.

Also shows that both are young and both have clearly got talent. I hope they both fulfill it.
