Would you appoint Thomas Tuchel as the next Manchester United manager?

Contradictory post. I agree you can go for a manager to try and win and build, as they can go hand in hand but you have also mentioned a manager who has no history of doing that, in fact Tuchel has proven over his time he can win but not build. He is a short term 1/2 year manager.
Its not contradictory, i said let the top managment build the squad, manager manage the squad, isnt it what we all want here nowadays (or am i wrong)?

We need to stop making managers a person to go to for everything in this club. It ends with SAF. Treat them as part of the cogs to make united better.

I

-Tuchel is the best avalable now, get him in, get top 4, compete and try to win something. Try to win and building can go hand in hand. If it not work out, find the next best.

i would rather keep Erik than this bluffer Tuchel, he was lucky last year that Dortmund bottled the last day. He really should have gone 2 seasons with no Bundesliga and that would be an epic cok up given the squad he had. He is a 1-2 season self promoting guy at best. I don't get 'try to win something' when we have won something in both Eriks seasons. To be frank , to me he is a poor mans Mourinho.

Thats exactly what we want.

Explain to me how can a manager manage a squad that is not built? Isn't the manager going to fail?

Imagine going into a pre season, not knowing what players the club wants to keep or which ones they want to sell?

Poor man's Mourinho give me a break, he beat Guardiola in a Champions League Final. He works best when he is allowed to just coach which is what INEOS want to implement.

Does it though? He may have been discussed this week and after the discussion, fallen down the shortlist.

Will never believe a word that Irish clown ever says, if it ever leaks Tuchel is off the shortlist then happy to jump on the Erik in train. Only reason is I don't see Pochettino/De Zerbi as upgrades to him.

Personally I believe this is exactly what we need right now. If he's happy to come in with the way we're going to use the manager from now on let him come in and steady the ship and we can evaluate as we go along once the "Structure" is all in place.

There's no way in hell he'd set us up to fail like Eric did the last season and a half which is the main reason Erik should go. He basically threw away the season continuing with something that hasn't worked from the start.
I'm also ignoring the glorious fan cup win because that is just one game.

Fecking hell, if one of those is a bluffer it sure isn't fecking TT!

I’m certain Tuchel is INEOS’ man. They’re leaking this Southgate stuff so that when they inevitably make Tuchel the manager, all the supporters are either happy that it’s Tuchel or relieved that it’s not GS.

Imagine INEOS decided to get rid of ten Hag and appoint Southgate despite Tuchel being available.
With the logic „Tuchel missed out on CL and league whereas Southgate led England to the Euro semis“.

Praying you are right, however why so certain that he's going to be their man just out of interest

Out of all of the journos who are reporting on potential new managers. The most reliable of them have mentioned Tuchel, and he has also spoken about his admiration for the club in the past.

He is also the highest profile manager on the market and INEOS have shown they want the best backroom staff they can get.

I think it’ll either be Ten Hag staying and signing a 2 year extension, or Tuchel coming in.

thank god it's just Falk.

I think I'd prefer giving ten Hag a new long-term deal to Tuchel. Overrated as one can be.

He's the best manager available by a mile and anyone who wouldn't take him over last season's Ten Hag or Gareth fecking Southgate is mental.

I agree. The reports of Southgate make me sick, i would take Tuchel in a heartbeat right now.

I do agree that he's the best alternative out there. Though that's as much to do with the other underwhelming options than Tuchel's ability.

I'm torn as to whether I rate Tuchel enough that I'd rather see a change now, or whether I'd prefer to give ETH another year, based on the two trophies and 3rd placed finish - and give benefit of the doubt for last year's 8th place with all the injuries (though we still shouldn't have finished so low!) And then reassess things next summer.

They're pretty much the only two options I'd be happy enough with. Don't fancy a managerial change if it's just to bring in the likes of Southgate or De Zerbi.

I think Tuchel is a good manager. A bit volatile but a good manager.

Getting Bayern to the semi final of the CL and beating Arsenal was a good performance although Bayern does have a fantastic squad. It isnt like that was something that you would think was out of the realm of possibilities for that squad.

His league performances arent great recently. Third place with Bayern is about as bad as 8th in the Premier League with Manchester United. The season before Dortmund lost the title more than Bayern won it. Sure, he did win the title but winning the title that way with Bayern is not a great performance. Tuchel was knocked out by a second or third division club in the German cup this year so that isnt amazing.

Eventhough it is a bit of a boring option, Tuchel is the best option if ETH is sacked. Personally im glad i dont have to make the decision to sack ETH to hire Tuchel since im really not sure about how much better it would be.

To think there are people in here who fawn over the fact we played and beat city in an FA Cup final for ETH side swipe Tuchel doing the same in the champions league final.

He also narrowly missed knocking Madrid out this year who went on to win it.

Truly strange lot the ten hag fans.

he also finished 3rd in the Bundesliga below VfB Stuttgart. Football was bland for the most part too.

You can always cherry pick. His Bayern tenure as a whole was underwhelming to say the least.

Pochettino will be fuming if he misses out again. Seems like it’s not meant to be with him. Out of all the managers available I think pochettino and Tuchel are the ones that want this job more than anyone els…

There the best candidates for it. I prefer Pochettino’s football but I think Tuchel is the safer manager. He seems to be a calibre above. However if we want to implement a progressive style I would go with Poch.

Ineos seem to want to have a full hand in the structure of the club and Pochettino’s reliance on keeping the same team of people around him might be a negative for Ineos. I heard at Chelsea he didn’t want to accept a set piece coach.

He's the only manager we've been linked with that I wouldn't mind. If we do get rid of ETH hope it's for this guy.

Why would we want a manager that isn’t proactive and I wouldn’t say his teams are exciting to watch. I’d say he’s more of a defence first manager rather than attack minded.

Looks like he’s the favourite, the stories about him talking to SJR and a decision on ETH being made this week seem planted

Find it hard to believe that there is no photo whatsoever or either Sir Jim or Tuchel separately or together in Monaco considering its not exactly the biggest of places.

I hope you don’t mind watching boring football then.

What we've been watching for the past two years has been a chaotic mess on the pitch. I'll take some conservatism for a season or two, especially on the road.

Would they really allow themselves to be photographed while in a top secret meeting?
