Is it wrong to find Jelena Jankovic attractive?

dunno, is it?
she's got a nice body, but her face is not the prettiest one

Funny. I was sitting to myself thinking: Damn, Jankovic has a nice body, a shame witht the face though!

I agree with the Count, the Serb tennis players are very likeable. Let`s hope Jankovic can take this third set.

Jankovic doesn't seem to have the bottle for the big points. Two break points she's wasted now in this set. And at 5-4 up she goes down to a love game, when she should have been giving it her all for the win.

If this girl could serve, she might be a player. Thing is, whenever Venus needs to break, when Jankovic gets tense and the serves are coming over at 70mph, she's going to succeed. So however close she gets, I can only see Venus winning

Not long to go now, 5-5 final set

She does that a lot. Did it all the time at Wimbledon, too.

Tie break now. Either one could win it, but I feel Venus is the favourite to here. I don't think Jankovic has the bottle.

This commentator is so pro-American. He was all over Serena last night even as she was humbled by Henin. I hope Federer takes Roddick and (metaphorically) shoves his fist up his arse. It would serve the bastard yank home crowd right, too :p

Open-American media turn on "classless" Serena Williams

By Simon Cambers

NEW YORK, Sept 5 (Reuters) - The American media turned on Serena Williams on Wednesday, labelling the former world number one as "classless" and "graceless" after her sullen reaction to her U.S. Open exit at the hands of Justine Henin.

Top seed Henin beat the American 7-6 6-1 in the quarter-finals for the third consecutive grand-slam event on Tuesday but a despondent Williams gave the Belgian scant praise.

"I just think she made a lot of lucky shots and I made a lot of errors," Williams said at her news conference.

"I really don't feel like talking about it. It's like I don't want to get fined. That's the only reason I came. I can't afford to pay the fines because I keep losing."

Players who fail to appear for post-match news conferences face fines from tennis officials.

Williams's words and manner were greeted with widespread disdain.

"(Williams) met the media afterward like a rattlesnake meets a ground squirrel," wrote Bill Dwyer, in the Los Angeles Times.

"If anybody was expecting perspective afterward, or maybe a gracious nod to a better effort by an opponent, forget it. We had sullen Serena. Snippy Serena. Snarly Serena."

In the New York Times, under the headline, "Williams needs a lesson in etiquette", Selena Roberts wrote: "Who's classless now?

"The grumpy, borderline nasty disposition that Williams displayed after her loss was a little jarring considering she had her own lack of preparation to blame for giving in so easily to Henin.

"Serena was bitter, angry and upset. She directed some of that at Henin. Who could use charm school now?"

In an interview with USA Network, which hosts television coverage of the U.S. Open, John Wertheim, the senior writer for Sports Illustrated magazine, described Serena's reaction as "stunning".

"There's a lot to admire about Serena but this happens again and again where we just have these completely graceless post-match (news conferences). Lucky shots? I think she means winners."

Onthebaseline.com, which specialises in women's tennis news, said Williams should probably have skipped the news conference.

"Serena's public relations department would have done better to pay the fine themselves than to allow their charge to disgrace herself as she did last night," it said.

it'd be great for Henin to beat both sisters

Roger holds his cool in the first set tiebreak. An ace to finish it 7-5 to take the first

Extremely high quality tennis from both players. Roddick always seems to bring out the best in Federer.

Federer up a break in the third and looking comfortable. Damn I had some money on Roddick as well. Damn Yank cnut!!

I almost felt sorry for Roddick last night. He was playing out of his skin in the two first sets, and had nothing to show for it. His serving was immense (even for his standards) ,but everytime he had to second serve Federer pounced on him.

Federer was amazing yesterday. Can`t see anyone stopping him from getting his 12th.

Djokovic.:D

Well he`s the only real alternative at this point, but I can`t see it happening. Federer is on a roll now, he won`t be stopped.

Djokovic beat Federer the last time they played against eachother and that was in the Montreal masters final so he knows that he can beat him. And in that tournament in Montreal Djokovic beat Roddick in the quarterfinal, Nadal in the Semifinal and Federer in the final. All in three days.

Lets not forget that Djokovic is also on a roll now.

Come on Novak.

Yes this is true. But has he ever been in a Grand Slam Final before? No... there`s going to be nerves.

And even more important: Beating Federer in Montreal is something entirely different from beating him in a Grand Slam. Federer is best when he needs to be best. I think he`ll wipe the floor with Djokovic to be honest. And that`s not being disrespectful to Novak, but Federer is still a class above.

And by the way, has Djokovic played Moya yet or is that match tonight?

If anyone has the European time I would be very glad.

I used to dislike Djokovic but seeing those videos, and watching him play Stepanek, I like him more. He's got great personality, it has to be said. I much prefer him to Nadal.

But my favourite player is still Federer. He's just a class above everyone else when he needs to be. Every other male tennis player of this generation is probably just going to have to accept that, unfortunately, they're playing against one of the best (if not the best) tennis players ever born.

I think Federer will win his fourth US Open in a row here, and set a new record in doing so. He's setting records everywhere he goes now Federer, isn't he?

Totally agree on Federer. I think a lot rate him as the best ever, but he`ll probably have to surpass Sampras 14 titles. By this time next year I reckon Federer will have 15 so it`s only a matter of time.

When (small if) he wins the US Open now, he`ll be the first since the 1920`s I think who has won 4 in a row.

It's not just that he plays perfect Tennis, he's also a very modest and nice guy. Never loses a bad word for his opponents, he does a lot of charity and has still both feet on the ground. He isnt even afraid to show his joy and cry after he won Wimbledon.

Probably the bestest tennis player, ever.

Cries a little too much. Big girl that he is.

He used to be one angry fecker. I think someone cut his balls off. And maybe that's the secret to becoming the best tennis player.

Saw him on Letterman where he was talking about that. He used to be quite temperamental and would break the odd racket. One day he saw himself on TV and just thought that he looked like a spoilt brat. So from that day he had a cooler approach to games.

I have to make sure I see Federer in action before he retires. When he's on form, I don't think any player of any era could live with him, something special

What time does this Moya vs Djokovic match start then?

Borg went through the same kind of transition from angry teenager to iceman. It worked for Borg and Federer because winning close tennis matches is largely about what goes on in the mind during crucial points - you need self control to raise your game and play your best tennis at the critical times of the match.
