Music The Ultimate Metal thread.

I really need to get back into metal properly, I find myself just listening to the same metal when I want a motivating or a headbang :/ used to listen to around 3 new albums a day when I was 16  was a major metal head then though.

It was easier before... so many bands, so many good bands.

Nowadays, bands are just not that good enough. They cant beat the originals.

so many years ago and this still the best piece of trash metal to come out of Germany.

 Irks is too strong for what I feel about people liking power metal, it doesnt bother me at all. I think apart from Keeper of the Seven Keys I have never heard a power metal album and thought 'wow this shit is awesome'. I think in general feels too optimistic, I like metal where it feels creepy, or like the band is really pissed off

Helloween? My fave song by them is The Departed (I think that's what it's called).

Also, I found a copied CD earlier with "KEEPER OF THE SEVEN KEYS" wrote on it in marker

Yep, Keeper of the Seven Keys part 1 is a very very good album. Literally the only one of theirs i've listened to but damn, it is good!

I think Rabbit Don't Come Easy was one of their first albums I heard fully and I remember quite liking that. Going to acquire their stuff again me thinks.

It's not THAT bad. :p It has some good moments but it's just that those moments are few and far between.

Just had a quick look on the metallica wiki to see what their latest live dvd was... Quebec Magnetic, not a massive fan of Death Magnetic, but decided to check some of their better songs out on youtube from that gig... it's weird, you can hardly hear the crowd, don't know if it's because mic's weren't set up, or the DVD mixing, or if Quebec just plain out blows.

I'm actually quite surprised, Metallica still aren't too bad on this, playing wise and singing/voice wise, Hetfield isn't as thrashy as he once was, but his voice still works well, a more mature version. Still one of the greatest bands of all time, easily.

Been listening to Gamma Ray's Land of the Free album a fair bit recently. I'm really starting to love it after being a tad indifferent towards it at first. I think Gods of Deliverance is one of my favourite tracks off of it.

This got released today and I'm five days away from ordering it!

I've seen Sabaton live and if you ever get the opportunity to see them, don't hesitate. Joakim is Bruce Dickinson of the future as far as entertainment value goes.

Indeed, they're absolutely amazing live. I've seen them twice now and will not hesitate the next time they're in Belgium.
I'm going to buy the DVD as well. Looking forward to the Polish Woodstock concert especially. 600.000 people should give quite an impressive show

Anyone heard of Orchid? Sabbath worshippers who pull off the old style sound.

Today, after 4 months in the hospital, this chilean guy from my city was released after defeating Rabies...

its only the 7th person to survive rabies in the world... a fecking miracle some may say. But then i noticed his t-shirt and knew the truth.

All hail Satan!

I'm loving Opeth at the minute. Ghost of perdition is amazing.

This song has left a huge dent in me this evening...at times I fogot where I was. The entire album has left me completely silent. If you are into gothic/funeral metal you should give this one a spin.

The hour of parting is at hand
Sorrow ever awaits on joy
And has rendered me to (pieces)

I had the pleasure of seeing Death two days ago. I think it was more or less the Human line-up, but it's hard to keep track of who played on what album. The guy doing the Chuck role did pretty well, down to the different vocal styles of Scream Bloody Gore versus The Sound of Perseverance. They played a lot of Human stuff and a few earlier crowd favourites like Zombie Ritual, Leprosy, Spiritual Healing and Pull the Plug. Nothing from Symbolic which is a shame, I would've loved to hear Empty Words live. The crowd went fecking nuts during Spirit Crusher though. All in all, it's hard to see them as more than a glorified tribute band, but I still really enjoyed it.

This day, 12 years ago the Metal God Chuck left this shitty world and trascend to take his place in the Metal Heaven.

15 years ago, he was playing for us here in Chile... i remember like if it was yesterday.

Lucky for us Music is atemporal so we can enjoy his gift till our day comes.

lov u Chuck!
