The Trump Presidency - Part 2

So let me get this.
Anti Vaxer and worm brain for health secretary
Assad/Putin stooge for DNI
Someone who had sex with a minor for AG

So this is an experiment to see what happens when morons get to run a superpower. This is not a serious country

Just saw a video of RFK saying things that are very pro-abortion, this might tank his confirmation?

I think this it. These people will get confirmed and they will destroy the country.

What is their end goal? Destroy the US as we know it and...profit?

And the people who voted for them will love every minute of it, even if they're hit financially. So, in other words, the country's fecked.

RFK health sec. Jesus Christ.

Bloke had a literal worm in his brain.
I think that you're domestically fecked and internationally, the Trump administration will be the final nail in the coffin of the current world order.

Maybe the US, and by extension the western democracies which will get politically hit by this second orange shockwave, just have to go through this madness to truly rethink themselves.

The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.

Llloyd Austin seems to me - at a distance - to be about the only serious person who has been in the White House since Obama left. You are then left with a bunch of deeply unserious people. Trump is serious in his own way, which many here will not grant him out of pure hated and the fact that his entire image (publicly) comes across as unserious.

But the Biden administration has some of the biggest clowns to ever hold the WH imo. So ridiculous that in the ladder of engagement politics we've been witness to for the past few years it is the Pentagon itself, of all institutions, which has to be credited with moderation in advice regarding how to de-escalate. They intervened more than "many" times when the WH was about to do some completely stupid shit.

Hearing from the old crew of bloodthirsty, establishment warhawks makes me fine with seeing where the new band of lunatics end up going.

Like a star. Never at its most pronounced when it is close to complete implosion (which in some cosmological theories, i.e, my own and I think like one other person, is also a rebirth).

What ? The Biden admin was just same as any regular Dem admin. Who are these Biden grossly incompentant officials ? And what they did do ? And dont give me inflation. Inflation was a consequence of covid.
You can argue if Biden presidency was good or about. But he left the country in fairly normal place.

America voted for this so hey, let's get the popcorn before they turn this into a PPV event
I woulnt be getting no popcorn yet. Depending on how much they mess up, they can screw the while world up. Especially if they go through with those tarriffs and spark a global trade war, we are looking at a global recession. The hope is that the Trump admin is too dumb and incompetant to do some of the stuff they promised

Who are these Biden grossly incompentant officials ? And what they did do ?
They are people like Anthony Blinken (and more) and have facilitated ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza.

Biden himself is clearly incompetent for the office of presidency by my early understanding of this (I can quote it from two or three years ago where I said something to the tune of mental cognition clearly declining and it would be an indictment upon the office of the presidency itself if he were not to step down and allow a primary challenge... but I'll leave that here) - also incompetent by his own party's estimation which is why they torpedoed him in the press, openly, I might add, and put Harris in as candidate instead.

Biden passed one piece of legislation which is impressive to me but it came from the Trump era. CHIPS. Now, there are people here who have no clue how the US political system works, at all, which will says "how can you put CHIPS down to Trump". The answer is that Trump inherited the Obama's administration's tactical calculus regarding simultaneous containment of Russia and China (Obama's pivot to Asia was nothing if not a large part of this). Now, during the Obama administration there were constant (WH) complaints about US technological companies being allowed to "fairly" access the Chinese market. Fast-forward and Trump takes office. From the off "China this, China that" (it was within his campaign too, if you recall). For Trump personally, it was Japan (in the 1970s and 1980s which played the China role: that Japanese rise, which was spectacular in economic terms, whereby business heads in the US started to take note and insist upon all manner of things which go against what the US call "free trade").

Trump introduced tariffs against China. China responded. The Trump and Biden administrations said that Huwaeii (or whatever it's called) could not have a significant role in American or European infrastructure (by which they mean the various tele-communication grids (5g infrastrcture). Their reasoning for this? See Edward Snowden's various files and what it is the US does with such infrastructure in the nations where it is allowed free reign (complete totalitarian styled espionage against those nations themselves and often through intermediaries in classic CIA tactics - the complaints of the tech companies about the backdoors which were not being complained about until Snowden revealed them). The US has exploits in these grids in various nations around the world and it is an open secret at this point (literally). That's why they didn't want China to have the same opportunity. Now tiktok, which is much more minor (a superstructural application is what it is) represented a threat to them in this sense: the data (go back to the complaints about access of American technological companies to the Chinese market during the Obama administration) collection which we know, with certainty, is used in conjunction with American technological behemoths and the American military state apparatus. This is why tiktok was banned in America with the exception that it divest its American holdings which is basically what ended up happening. "Free trade" - funny how it works, much like rules based order, it means "on our terms and not yours if we think it anyway significant".

That's a just a detour through history which may or may not be relevant to you at all. But that's how American presidencies "work" - the incumbent inherits a domestic and foreign policy position from what is called the "deep state" but is merely the civil service qua state planning. What is deemed Necessary in that planning, by the various components of the state apparatus, is typically carried forward by whatever president takes office. For example, the war in Ukraine is not universally "liked" in the pentagon. That is, there are more than a few who would want to see that war come to a swift resolution and in such a way that America comes out looking somewhat decent. That's Trump's general plan. We'll see what happens.

Anyway, ethnic cleansing and genocide in a tl;dr version. Ethnic cleaning/genocide and a complete lack of vision on the world stage in general if you want to go further - being outmaneuvered by the BRICS in just about every metric you can conceive of.

You wrote a lot (in some of it the US govt sounds quite competent) but you didn't answer the question.

Lots of overreacting here. We got through his first term and so will do this time around.

Dems should learns some lessons and take this back in 4 years.
Americans barely got through no thanks to Trump and his COVID thoughts. The nutters appointed here are not even comparable to the Cabinet Trump had in his first Trump. He still had adults in the room with him. This time it is literally an asylum who are dealing with a more complex world environment.

Aye. No wonder the onion basically got out of a job during his first term. And yet everyone who paid but a bit of attention the first time around or any of the years since should have totally seen this coming. But I also have come to realize many Dem voters and highly educated folks as well are just as guilty of being completely ignorant of the world around them. Id argue this country better than others celebrates willful ignorance.
Electing Trump twice is bad but in terms of pure economic impact, Brexit vote is way more stupid and ignorant. So the UK still wins this ignorance competition.

I think it's the civil service which is quite competent (transitional throughout presidencies) not the government as such but it's designed that way.

I did answer to be fair: the Gazan situation and being outmaneuvered by BRICKS. Bliinken is a disaster imo and Biden has been non-existent since his first year.

I.e., think of it like this. Biden (or his staff) had range to intervene against this Israeli government, despite whatever the civil service calculus was (an arrangement could have been made, they make all kind of contingencies: it is their job), but they chose not to. That is a decision that will haunt this regime for the rest of their lives (and the UK government too). When Ireland and South Africa are literally prosecuting the case at the ICJ and Haaretz itself has asked the question "Is This a Genocide"?

I think he and his base are much more hateful this time round. You can already see that with his nominations. Just the absolute worst people imaginable. Almost like his goal is to destroy those departments...

He's also got the house, senate and a very compliant supreme court behind him now. This will be much worse than 2016. I mean, you know it's bad when Exxon are coming out and saying his climate plans are fecked.

The thing is. Weren't we always told of the the likes of military industrial complex and how they controlled government. Plus all the other elites. Black Rock for example. So how has none of them stopped this mad fk? Surely fkibg up America is good for no one. So does this prove there isn't a cabal controlling the government and the likes of the military have no real power

Well think back, who was doing the telling?

Sure wasn't the future PHD's in my friends group.

Surely the Republicans have to look at some of these appointments and think "it's going a bit too far now"

Story is that Musk’s told them all that he’ll fund a primary rival to anyone who steps out of line, so I guess we’ll see who prioritises their career over the country.

Spoiler alert, I’m not holding out much hope.
