The Trump Presidency - Part 2

Why is it unsurprising? I'd have expected for them to stop the sentencing.

That's on me, I misread it as I linked it. I've just finished reading the article and realized my mistake and came to edit it. I thought it said they had stopped the sentencing. My bad. My refusal to wear my glasses bit me in the arse this time for sure.

Trump announces that Leo Terrell will be Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the United States Department of Justice.

That's the 18Th, yes EIGHTEENTH either current or former Fox News staffer he's hired to serve in his upcoming administration.

Leo said this morning that the LAFD has no intention of putting the fires out due to DEI and Social Justice picks.

Sounds like a fecking lovely guy.

Imagine pissing Denmark and Canada off and never having decent bacon again.

Oh.... Most don't know what it is anyway as they have Turkey bacon.

It's all to do with tariffs, Grandstanding at it's finest because he wants a "better" deal on tariffs, all he wants is leverage

He's probably forgotten that EU countries don't control trade policy, so if he puts tariffs on Danish products, the EU strikes back as a whole on the American products that have most proportional impact.

Or wait...maybe he hasn't forgotten and that's exactly what his master in the Kremlin wants him to do.

I'd love it if journalists would do their jobs and confront Trump with the fact that the US already has access to Greenland when it comes to national security. The Pituffik Space Base comes to mind. And if they need more, I'm sure that can be negotiated.

Also, the idea of statehood for Greenland is absolutely hilarious. In terms of population, Greenland is about 10% of the least populous current state, and I'm pretty sure that they lean left by Danish standards. Imagine suddenly having two socialist Inuits in the senate representing about 50,000 people. Trump probably doesn't even think about the implications between Greenland being a state or a territory. He's so fecking dumb.

This is where his argument falls flat. The US already has military presence there, they can easily have more since we are Nato allies. Greenland doesnt have to bought and annexed, its just a 2 braincell smokescreen for looking bigger on the map and for mining rescources in the future.

what a complete waste of time and money

if anything the whole ordeal helped him win the election

The US became a joke. Eve
rybody bent other to this orange clown.
If it didn't impact the whole world, I would lean back and watch how the imbecile fecks up the country.

Bloody hell. The idiot is giving Russia and Putin the best excuses for the annexation of Crimea with his gibberish about the Panama canal.

What is an unconditional discharge?
It just means that the conviction stands without punishment. He is still guilty, but there is no prison time, fine, probation, or any other material consequence. Trump is still a felon, though, and the conditions that apply to felons would still apply to him as well.

Well that will surely put pay to his political ambitions.

Not sure what does this convey, does he want independence?

Yes, majority of greenlanders wants independence but as they are heavily subsidized they want to keep mooching Denmark and keep moaning +60% greenlanders wants independence. 78% don't want it if it worsen the quality of life. Which is fair. But wanting independence and talking about independence and being able to get the independence when they want but not action it, it says what it says

This is it really. As it is, they cant afford independence. The fact that we have taxpaid healthcare, university tuition, SU etc means that Greenland in reality have everything to lose. However if the US can give them a fair offer for their trillions worth of dollars of untapped rescources that might change. I highly doubt that the people of Greenland will gamble their future on the whims of Donald Trump.

They would be stupid. They would be the useful idiots and be ditched faster than trump change a diaper. But you know, greed exist and my territorial independence has a price too, which price...I don't know

Surely if they have that much valuable minerals they could afford independence by making leases to various companies and securing advantageous loans ? With such a tiny population they can also implement UBI or whatever the oil rich gulf states use.

Because the inuit that governs greenland and wants the independence are eco socialist, or that is what they call a 50k society that don't want to feck up their natural space. Basically they can't have everything.

You can't have independence if you don't have resources (or be piss poor) but you can't have resources if you don't exploid the only resources that you have. And being Inuit, which I assume, their natural environment is a heavy part of their identity, puts them in a gridlock situation

eco socialist. I thought I've heard them all.

Indeed. Id say we put it up for bid to the traditional colonizing superpowers. Bring back European superiority and let the Spanish, Portuguese, French, Dutch and English duke it out for control of Greenland. Denmark is a pointless country.

I'm sure you can think of a reason if you try.

I think most French politicians, and French people in general, would disagree that a German invasion is a threat which warrants increased defence spending.
You’re funny, and you’re also throwing out daft claims that you seemingly can’t back up with anything else than «because that’s how it is»
You managed one post before resorting to this. Speaks for itself.

Hard to say no to 500k to be honest. If that comes to actual offer on the table cold hard cash
