Well, i used to laugh at right-wing polls a few months back, turns out, they were probably more correct about the US election than the left-wing polls, overall.

So, i wouldn't disregard this, just because i don't like the source.

The polls during the election weren't mainly right-wing even if they indicated how the right wing were doing. The Heil however. Of course it could be accidentally correct, but safer to assume it is rubbish, don't give them a click or a link, and wait for a reputable poll.

They can just be there own country together with Oregon and Washington state. New England next. Then we'll have a free trade agreement with all of them and Mexico. Progress.

Sucks for everyone in the remaining states though.

It won't just be California, add on Oregon and Washington, and there's probably some New England states that would be thinking about it!

It's not so obvious. First, elections are coming already anyway, it's pretty much unavoidable right now - within a few weeks after parliament reconvenes at the end of March. And with Trudeau gone, Poilievre's win might be less big than the polls currently suggest.

That's more for the Canadian Politics thread though. What's more relevant here is that conservatives don't necessarily play nice together. Ontario PM Doug Ford is a conservative, and he's the strongest advocate for a very hard response to the US. And he just called a snap election himself and will most likely be re-elected with a strong majority. So we'll have to see where it all goes.

Following up on this, here is Poilievre's (federal Conservative leader) reaction today:
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Sunday urged the Liberal government to recall Parliament to put in place a "Canada first" plan to handle the economic repercussions from the tariffs.

Poilievre proposed retaliating "dollar for dollar" by targeting industries that will have a maximum impact on the U.S. while harming Canadian consumers as little as possible.

He normally mentions Trudeau at least every other sentence, so this quote is actually quite striking in the way it squarely 'attacks' the US.

Once they dismantle the department of education (which is rumored to be next) - their decades long war on the educated will finally come to a head. At this point I'm just waiting for the Internet to be censored (in some southern states it already started after all), and to report myself to the local Stasi station to be marked as an enemy of the state for not going along with the maga hivemind. It would be one thing if I thought these clowns were doing it because they legitimately believe it will make the world a better place - but that's not it at all - it's spite, malice, ignorance, testosterone driven bullshit designed to hand power to an even smaller group than was already the case.
