The Trump Presidency - Part 2

I'm genuinely quite concerned about what's going on, concerned in terms of a fundamental change in the world order with Trump moving the US in this direction. An unstable, untrustworthy, reactionary and aggressive USA in the same world as Putin's Russia and Xi's China is terrifying. This guy is unhinged and a genuine threat to 75 years of western alliance building.

You know the really idiotic thing, this can literally all be traced back to Roger Ailes and the founding of Fox News. It's so unspeakably distopian.

That’s a big concern, indeed. We were worried the first time around, but somehow managed to keep it together. This time looks different.

The first two weeks have been very eventful.

But that in itself stems from something else, even though it's particular to America.

Trump is very much an outlier of course but I do get amazed that people are still shocked or surprised at how politics is changing across many of the so-called Western countries. This has been coming for a long time and it's essentially because the culture, ethics, standards, social fabric and general human behaviour in said countries has changed enormously in the last 50 to 60 years. And the politics, like everything else, is simply downstream of that change.

So not only has it been coming for a long time, but it's here to stay.

I fear the chaos across the pond will eventually be mirrored on British shores. Having been fooled into voting for Brexit, I sadly think it’s only a matter of time until we elect a deplorable prime minister.

In 50 years time the next four years will be studied by historians and economists more than any other time period.l n the last 200 years.
All bets are off now. America will be a dictatorship at the end of this. It pretty much is already.
I’m a Brit so I hope that we and Europe get our shit together because US is not an ally any more.
Wtf is going on??

Mike fecking Flynn is working overtime right now and has been sharing files claiming to be from the treasury. Even if Musk/Trump isn't working with Putin, this guy definitely is.

Please lord grant us the miracle of Trump Keeling over soon...the man can't have too long left.
You would think so. He’s unhealthy as feck. Unfortunately, I can see him living to 100 like Kissinger.

Yup. The cnut Farage will become prime minister in four years time. You just know that that will happen.

Flynn should be incarcerated at ADX Florence for high treason.

Mike Flynn - someone who actually committed high treason, that Michael Flynn? I have to say, Putin, with everyone in his web from Ankara to the Caribbean, will go in the history books as the most influential person of this century. Everyone else incl Trump is secondary.

Point is, what happens if any of these belligerent (yet postural) acts from a (supposed, at this stage) ally is followed suit by a belligerent, non-postural act from a truly hostile power.

Remember folks: they voted for Trump “to bring down inflation”. Invading Canada is one step in that direction… they will make this argument.
