Yes, I hope no coverage in major news media before any verification. Mr. Khan himself didn't comment yet (which, of course, means that he also didn't deny either).

The lecture itself seems to have been cancelled ... unless the entire thing is a scam to muddy the context for Trumps new travel ban EO

It makes little sense to me under what laws could the govt even attempt to revoke a citizen's right to travel, bar criminal conviction of some sort.

Really hope this is not fake. 'Resistance' does not need to make up stuff - there is plenty of material to work with.

The facebook post makes me think its real but I remain skeptical.

Trump is an incredibly vindictive man, so is sessions, it is not beyond the realms of fantasy that they have created some outlandish charges for the man. Sessions has pretty much made a career out of doing just that.

This is a great article about just what sessions is capable of

Piers Morgan is wrong: I didn't see any major U.S.-based media outlet covering this yet.

Traveling is not a privilege, it is part of the declaration of human rights. Unless he is suspect of a crime.

I'm pretty sure one's passport is a privilege, granted by their government and revocable at their whim.

That said, we have pretty easy borders between us, despite probably needing a passport to cross....although I'm told some forms of smart ID are sufficient. I don't have a chip Indian Status Card so haven't been able to use that to cross the border for a while. As soon as I get one, I'm going to try using it.

Some of the comments on Trump's Twitter posts are so frustrating. You know when you just know there is no talking to some people, but some people is actually most people, and by most people I mean every Trump supporter I've met so far.

I randomly checked the Twitter profiles of some supporters and they seem to pledge their entire lives to vehemently opposing all forms of anti-Trump support. Hashtags in the bio, Twitter handles, retweeting propaganda. Whereas most people in opposition of Trump (okay, relatively small sample checked) seem to be normal everyday folk using their Twitter for entertainment, keeping in touch with friends and family etc. I know there are anti-Trump accounts just as active, but they aren't even half as venomous. I've already spotted the problems with my own statements here but feck it, I'm still posting this! I'm at the point now where I'm just hoping for a monumental feck up because I've got no chance of persuading these people through education.

Waffle over.

People incarcerated, or who have warrants for their arrest, that owe child support or taxes, cannot get a passport. Every other citizen can. Nothing in the relationship of the government and it's citizens is done "at their whim". Everything must be coded in law or regulation, and is subject to either judicial or administrative review, or both.

You still have to apply and be approved. After all, this is your government vouching for you as a good citizen who isn't travelling abroad to stir up shit.

Revocation is another matter entirely and can certainly be done at the government's whim should they decide you aren't the kind of person they want going abroad.

I really don't like that term you used to describe him bro, it's gutter level and no different to the term race traitor.

I used it intentionally...and that's exactly what he is. An african american calling slaves taken away from their homes, shipped across the world, sold as commodities and then worked to death - Immigrants.

If Trump or Rush Limbaugh had said the above, would they not be slaughtered by the masses and called racists??

Just because, he's black...doesn't mean he gets a free pass.

I'll cop whatever comes my way for using the term.

I'm not a lawyer, but I can imagine a lawsuit for the government doing that with no evidence. In fact I found the case of Ahmed Nagi, who wasn't issued a passport, sued the state dept. and The Intercept reports briefly in a related story that he did get one after the lawsuit: https://theintercept.com/2016/01/27...parated-him-from-his-wife-and-three-children/

This f-ing Uncle Tom...and that's exactly what he is....calling slaves, immigrants.

FFS

maybe he was talking about the persons that came to the US on slave ships on their own free will, and not the actual slaves themselves? Surely he knows the meaning of Immigration . You cant be locked and chained and forced to go somewhere and work for free and be considered an immigrant.

Undoubtedly so, but they have lots of lawyers in their employ and your average Joe may not have the resources to fight it.

I also think that refusing to issue is possibly more complicated than revocation. They are governed by similar criteria but it seems that there's a bit more leeway with revoking one. If someone is going to go abroad and bash the President (rightly or wrongly) at a conference, I could see this administration making some trouble for them

You realize that benevolents have the right to use seat belts?

Looks like someone's writing these latest tweets for him. Coherent and non-ranty.

Maybe after the weekend they've finally managed to convince him to tone it down....

but probably not...

Was just sitting behind a car at a traffic light with a Trump sticker, a "Jesus rocks" sticker, and a "keep your hands off my flag" (Confederate flag) sticker.

South Carolina at its finest

Not really, because Uncle Tom was actually a protector of his people and a matyr

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Tom

It's simply a misused term

And gay means joyful.

I'm sure @Neutral and this man know what they are talking about.

I just love how we had a thread for an eugenics expert to express himself but the moment a forum member called out a charlatan for an utterly vile, disgusting remark, he needs to 'get off the Internet'.

What is the story with Carson anyway? Just doesn't seem the politician type at all. Does he have a decent record in politics?

Brilliant neurosurgeon who went off the deep's end and effectively became a race apologist, perpetuating all the GOP's myths about people of colour for a living.

Was that the guy who talked about all races not being equal?
