Well if anyone knows him it's her. She might just be hating all this attention and knows it is not going to be good attention.
Yes, I expect she's been enjoying her life up till now, a life of privilege without too many people focusing on what she does, what she wears etc. That's going to change as she has now become a public figure, although I suspect it's not something she ever wanted.

Not to mention her husband's track record of monstrous behaviour when stressed.

Melania looks so unhappy. Her face as she was being escorted to the stage yesterday, all in her powder blue ensemble - pictures say a thousand words. As soon as she walked outside and the people could see her, she forced a huge smile.

She was not much happier at the dinner. She just wanted to be some place else. Michelle eventually accepted it and shone as first lady. Not sure Melania as the same charisma.

Obama made it clear just how much of a load the first lady takes on. He will have seen in private just how much weight was on Michelle and how much sacrifice she made and I think his recent acceptance speech may have also been both a subtle friendly warning to Melania (who I'm sure he has nothing against) but also a way of highlighting just what an incredible job Michelle did and what foot steps Trump's wife will be stepping into.

With that said I'm sure it will be a role carried out in a totally different way.

Obama is the type of man that insists his wife sit at the table as an equal and that her opinion is heard. Trump is the type of man that expects his wife to recognise that when the cigars are brought out, it's time for the men to talk about important things and she's best excusing herself.

Look at it all logically. In the last 18 months she has had her entire life paraded in front of the WORLD, not just the USA. She has had her son plastered all over the media too. On top of all that she personally (right or wrong) has faced accusations of being a gold digger, illegal immigrant and a mail-order bride. As if that wasn't enough her marriage has been scrutinised and her husband has been publically accused of sexually assaulting countless women, being a pervert and walking in on underage models while in various states of undress, has been filmed talking very crudely about other women AND about sexually assaulting them, has been accused of sleeping with prostitutes and liking what many would call extremely dirty and perverted sex acts (golden showers) and he's been caught saying outrageous things about his own daughter including how she is more attractive than Melania, and he's also been caught saying he would shag a 10 year old girl when she was older.

That's not all because there is the constantly resurfacing rape and battery allegations from his first wife and abuse of his second. None of us know if Melania was aware of any of this before, but if not can you imagine how hard to take it would all be? Can you imagine the toll this has taken on their marriage? I don't care how strong a marriage is, all this would put anyone to the test, especially when you think he would hardly have been home much. Also, who is to say that he hasn't been fighting with Melania? He has previous, as mentioned before, so it's fair to speculate about it. Normally with all this a wife would be headed for the door and off to court, but she can't because he was running for, and then elected as President. Divorce before or after being inaugurated would surely be too much for even his staunchest supporters to take, but the point still being is it really cant have been a happy 18 months for Melania. The rest of the family are literally on top of the world, but Melania may literally be having to do what so many women have had to do and that is put on a brave face and pretend everything is ok and play the doting wife, while inside she wants to rip his fecking eyes out and cut his cock off and shove it up his arse. Maybe.

The first day and he gets rid of the mortage fee cut that Obama/Julian Castro recently created on 1st time buyers.

You can bet that Trump is the opposite of amused about Obama getting more than a million likes on a Twitter message within 24 hours, like he might seriously be more upset about this right now than about most other things.

I'm glad I was too busy to watch the freak show yesterday. Well I wasn't really busy to be honest, just that I made sure I was getting smashed in a bar with no TV, accompanied by people who don't really care for politics. Had some lovely pizza afterwards, went to my girl's house, slept very well.

Now I'm just going to act like this has never happened. Ignorance is bliss, until the unevitable shitstorm kicks in eventually of course.

The banks are gonna be loving this bigtime. This will make sure that more first time buyers will end up in foreclosures and the banks makes a lot of money this way. You can see the influence of the Goldman Sachs people that Trump have around him al ready.

That in a way is why I don't think he will be a good president. He will let trivial things, like who is more popular than him, distract him from the job.

I just want the next 4 years to hurry up already so I can see how this all plays out.

There are about 4 different scenarios - any combination of which could play out imo.

1. Trump gradually settles into the Presidency and grows on the broader public. He is in the low 30s right now, so expectations aren't actually high - which is a good thing.

2. A black swan event like a major terrorist attack, foreign invasion, North Korea etc takes place where Trump has to act and in the process galvanizes public support behind him.

3. Trump's time in office becomes a siege where the majority who didn't vote for him, the media, and various factions of Dems and some Republicans launch continuous investigations, at least one of which indicates collusion between Trump campaign officials and the Russian government (through intermediaries). Other investigations may reveal collusion between Giuliani and FBI and/or DOJ officials leading up to Comey releasing his letter. Resignations ensue as does a full on effort to impeach Trump. The GOP is roiled by this in the lead up to 2018 mid terms.

4. Trump and Putin manage to completely disrupt the world order, leading to a major populist redistribution of power in Europe, affecting NATO and the EU.

I can see #1 happening realistically. He'll slash taxes and take the gloves off the energy industry to prop up the economy. I can see his supporters lapping it up and others turning a blind eye to the cost of it all and what it means in the long run.

Re the people smashing shit up, has the American media twigged that they're anarchists who would have rioted no matter who won?

I'm sure they're looking to blame Black Lives Matter right now.

Also note how they're described as "Anti-Trump protestors" as opposed to "thugs" "criminals" etc.

I think I can imagine a plausible GOP repeal-and-replace plan for the ACA.
Replace it with virtually the same thing, but give govt money to insurers for things like pre-existing conditions. What govt money? Cut some other program (food stamps, education budget, EPA budget, etc.)

It's a win-win. Keeps voters happy, does not increase taxes or change healthcare plans, keeps insurance companies happy, and doesn't affect their target voters.

Ugh....this inevitably means we're going to be seeing more of Morgan here again.

The strawman arguments or plain hate comments of misogynist dickheads under #womensmarch today make me doubt manhood.

He deserved that.

Fantastic, sacrifice food for the working poor, strip funds for their children's education and scale back oversight that keeps the air and drinking water clean so we can give that money to a private company to insure people that had the gall to have a pre existing condition. Republican Christian values to go with their three times married billionaire president while they destroy the economy with greed and stupidity.

Watched a video of the Trumps doing their first dance at the inauguration ball. Grim. Really grim, actually. The absence of any affection in that relationship is stark when forced to shuffle aryhthmically on a stage.
It looked like an awkward employee motivation exercise for the executives of Trump Inc.
