The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Bruce Springsteen played a private gig for Obama's staff. It's gotta hurt trumps ego knowing he can't even get the cover band
Failing LOSER @BruceSpringsteen would never be invited to my party when I already have superstars like 3 Doors Down, Billy Bobkins and Chuck Steak playing.

Some of the pictures from the concert yesterday are hilarious. "a few thousand" compared to over 400k for Obama's. Hopefully today's numbers will be equally as humiliating.

I guaran-damn-tee you that if turnout is low some ignorant idiot will claim it's because Trump supporters have jobs.

His Twitter skills are remarkable. The only person I've seen who come out of every skirmish on top.

He trolls just about everyone. Was a big indy supporter back in 2014 but still managed to troll plenty of Yes voters successfully too. He's great.

The end of the world as we know it :(

You guys will concentrate on Foreign policy - but, the damage he and the Republicans will do to....SS, Medicare, welfare, education, energy, minority rights is beyond scary.

Just got sucked down a very random - but very funny - Twitter rabbit hole.

He will likely get a couple of hundred thousand show up.

Whilst its a scary prospect, i imagine in reality he'll only end up doing as much damage as Obama did good i.e. minimal.

Perhaps thats hope but things never change as much as expected, tends to gravitate to the status quo pretty much.

Correct me if i'm wrong (still an idiot when it comes to American Politics), but wasn't Obama constantly restricted by having to appeal to a Republican Senate? Whereas Donald won't have that kind of problem no?

You are correct.

I'm not sure when elections take place for Senators and Congressmen however I presume within the next 2 years. So that could also change for Trump.

Trump will have a Republican House and Senate. Obama had a cooperative Congress for a limited amount of time.

Trump and the Republicans can and will make radical changes to things. Of course stealing the Supreme Court appointment will be their biggest long term win.

Not for the first two years but for the majority of his presidency he was. It'll be special special interest groups and his own party that will reign Trump in. .

I'm not saying no damage will be done dont get me wrong but id be suprised if its as bad as the tories have done here.

Rob Delaney sums it all up nicely.

Trump is inaugurated today. That's terrible. He's a bad guy, he ran a horrific campaign - in its tenor/message; I'm aware he won the Electoral vote - and his transition has been historically awful. His cabinet nominees are execrable. Betsy DeVos for Education? Tom Price for Health and Human Services? So it's bad. Bad for kids, bad for women, bad for the environment, bad for voting rights, the list goes on for a long time. With GOP control of House and the Senate he's poised to do a lot of damage.

Regardless I love America and I love Americans. I love the whole country. I love the states where a majority of citizens voted for Trump, all the ones I've been to anyway. I love black people, gay people, white people, brown people, native American people, disabled people, trans people... I even love Trump voters the way Jesus and Buddha and the people I most admire say you should. Because I love all these people I want them to not have to worry about how they'll get their health care, no matter how much money they have or don't have. Because I love them I want them to be able to get a quality public education. I want them to be paid a fair, living wage and get paid parental leave if they have kids. I want their kids to be able to go to daycare.
As such I've been rather loud about all these things in the last year. I've joined the NAACP and the Democratic Socialists of America. I've given money to the Council on American Islamic Relations, Planned Parenthood and the Southern Poverty Law Center. I wish I could attend the inauguration protest with the Democratic Socialists today and the Women's March tomorrow, but I live in London for work right now and have 3 kids under the age of 6 who need me and I can't swing it at the moment. It does feel bizarre to watch all this unfold from another country. And an immediate consequence for my family is that we cannot responsibly move back to the US in the foreseeable future, as the Affordable Care Act is in jeopardy. We're a family of 5 and like most families of 5 we have members with preexisting conditions. Paul Ryan was on Charlie Rose last night detailing his plans for repeal and "replace," and it was grim. I pray for sick Americans and pregnant women and the elderly. More important perhaps than my prayers, however, will be my work and your work.

Personally I think the Democratic Socialists of American are a great place to start to fight Trump. Don't worry; they're not a political party that will siphon votes away from Democrats and ensure Republican oligarchy forever, they're (we're) "an activist organization that uses a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people." NAACP, ACLU, Planned Parenthood, CAIR, SPLC and many more are wonderful and you must support them too, but today I'm recommending the DSA as I think they can be a natural organizational umbrella for all these causes.

This is one man's opinion on a bizarre day that I pledge will only strengthen my resolve to fight for everyone, even my neighbor Jeff, who has halitosis and at least 5 Bon Jovi t-shirts at my last count.
