The best bit about Obamagate is what his administration is actually accused of doing, and how, erm, sensible it sounds. The actual timeline goes like this:
- The US intelligence community tells (then President) Obama that Russia did interfere with the election. In retaliation, he imposes sanctions on Russia
- Oddly, Russia don't retaliate or even respond to the sanctions - which they had always previously done
- The intelligence community agree this is weird, so 'unmask' the identity of an American who has been in frequent contact with the Russian ambassador
- That American happens to Michael Flynn, who has been telling the Russian ambassador not to worry about the sanctions, because Trump will reverse them once he's President
That's kind of it, in terms of what Obama's administration did. By the way, Michael Flynn subsequently:
- Got the job as lead of Trump's national security, despite Obama pointing out he might not be on the level
- Lied to Mike Pence about speaking to the Ambassador
- Got fired by Mike Pence and Donald Trump for lying once the FBI had proof he'd lied
- Lied to the FBI, under oath, twice, about having the call
- Also deliberately omitted that he was working for the Turkish government on the forms required for the above post, lied about that
- Plead guilty to the two above lies, both of which are federal crimes
But yeah, Obama's the bad guy here. The very fact people are even discussing this shows what an absolute joke we all are. Trump is standing up there, buck naked and insane, but he pointed to the corner of the room and said 'squirrel' and half the room are f*cking writing about what colour the squirrel is.
