Where are the protests over the latest racist remarks by Trump? You would think you'd at least get large protests in the liberal cities over the "go back home" remarks, but it seems people in the US are just bone idle.

Imagine if PM Boris told Sadiq Khan to go back home. You would get hundreds of thousands of people on the streets of London protesting.

France maybe but the UK? they are just as bone idle as their American friends, did anyone storm the BBC when the Jimmy Saville thing came out and more? Nope continued paying the licence fee, what about the Rotherham Gang? Or that real creepy fat weirdo dude who actually was in the UK govt that raped many boys?

I don't understand this post, are you basically saying:

Trump says racist thing, then doesn't stop supporters from being even more overtly racist but that's OK because the left goes too far?

Giving you the benefit of the doubt at the moment because that would be a preposterous thing to say in response to that tweet.

I think he's sarcastically commenting on the useless moderation from the left towards fighting against the racism in Trump's votebase. If anything, I think he wants more drastic or extreme actions to make a statement to these people that being racist is not okay.

That's how I read that comment.

Come on in all honesty we all know that people who go to a Donald Trump rally to listen to Donald Trump are capable of anything, from banal and stupid things like name calling to hideously evil things like driving their cars into protesters or shooting at children.

It is just who they are.

Bernie Sanders' dad came from Poland. He also complains about the situation in the US. Trump should call for Bernie to go back as well, seeing as how he's not got a racist bone in his body.

Oh for sure, I know there are plenty. I mean killed more specifically due to white nationalism stoked by the media and high ranking politicians (in this case, the President).



I remember that over a decade ago. The crowd were disappointed that McCain didn't stick the boot into Obama then or agree that "he was an Arab that couldn't be trusted". Trump has completely energised the racists and right now I'll be surprised if he doesn't get re-elected. Despite everything vile that he's done, he is mostly doing what he said he would. Then, there's the Supreme Court. In the next five years it is highly likely another appointment will be made which could make the court pretty firmly conservative for decades.
 
It's a new level of sick for me. When will it slow down.

It's really amazing (in a very sad way) how perfectly Trump's style exploits the (superficial) cycle structure of the media's reporting and public discourse. It seems more and more like he can get away with anything and his polarizing style seems to be very effective in shaping "his" half of America and due to the "false balance" of a lot of media reports perhaps part of the other half as well.
 
The actual morons are the people who only read the headlines on these huge national issues, but I guess in a way Al Green should've known that it would be used in that way.

It's not about that anymore. It's about what's accepted and what's not. It's about this being a normal thing. Whereas it could get you in trouble in other countries and rightly so.

It's sad what's happening to the US. It's becoming one of the most disgusting countries in the world for me. Especially so as it should be and it proclaims itself the authority of morality.
