We had a guest pastor this week, who started off with the normal 'judging the others'. He veered into current political discourse and said this verbatim. "While we can understand that there is perhaps scope for a healthy debate about the situation at the southern border and the immigration in general, there's none while abortion is concerned. I was listening to the debate at Miami when the politicians on stage had abortion platforms that allow women to have abortion till one day before the baby is born and one day after the baby is born if the mother decides the life is forfeit'".
At this point, I was positively angry that the guy was using the pulpit and his stature to spread outright lies. Then he began preaching from Romans 1 and 2 about sexual immorality etc. and somehow managed to say that it's not upon us to judge others and in the next sentence say that Democrats are doing it to appease their atheist and agnostic base. Apparently, judgment is only reserved for atheists. I hope he at least recognizes that he is quoting a text that happened 2000 years ago and is warning against the impending doom of society as we know it today.
I lost it when he said it places increasing burden on parents and grandparents to protect their children to bring them up in the good christian way from society's evil ways. Perhaps coming from a hindu majority country, it gives me a perspective that the mid west American parent just don't have.
I will write to the lead pastor at the church about this. I just wanted to reconfirm if any of the Democratic candidate platforms says you can terminate a pregnancy till the last day before filing a complaint.
