So it's a 3 week 'deal' at which point he'll either shut it down again or declare a national emergency and steal funds from elsewhere to fund his stupid wall.

Not only is Trump a bully but he's also a massive coward. He'll probably never go down for his crimes but at least his legacy as a lil bitch has been sealed.
I mean...I'd say they've gotten better at it over the last couple of years now they know certain wings of the party aren't interested in compromise at all anymore. Whether they'd have been more likely to cave before is another matter.
I don't think this stacks up, as they didn't compromise in 2013, either.

They have all been given the highest security clearance and the one thing I can guess is that no matter how corrupt, stupid and greedy they have been, they will all have insurance. Trump has sat quiet and let everyone take the fall for him and then dissed them for doing so. He knows no loyalty to anyone but himself. It's my guess he has shit on everyone which is why they are afraid to stand up to him and he also knows the countries biggest secrets too.

While they would have access do you even think they'd look? I can't imagine Donald diving into the documentation of former administrations... His underlings might, but would they even tell him? They'd have to fear he'd tweet about it or mention it the next time he wants to impress some random person.

I find it crazy how easy it is for the opposition in the US to block a mandated policy. Our lot in the UK are never so bold because it would lose voters (see brexit) but over there you seemingly don't give a shit and can force a complete shut down of government. Mental
American democracy is far more tribal. Their elections are akin to a census of those tribes.
SunTrust Bank is truly horrible and they usually deal with shady car dealerships and such for car loans they expect to default and then send collecting agencies after the defaulters, it wouldn't surprise me if it's a disgruntled customer.
