Not if it came from his own pocket in which case he would have to be applauded.

Instead this will fall under something that’s not a big deal because it’s Trump but if it was under Obama it would be the biggest disgrace ever.

I mean, it's not as bad as wearing a tan suit that one time.

THere's actually a really good burger shop at the GWU medical school building, a block from 1600 Pennsylvania avenue.

To be fair, I think most pro athletes hardly ever eat at McDonalds.

There's a bunch of NBA and NFL guys who've said they religiously ate fastfood in college and didn't take diet seriously until their franchises set them up with nutritionists and chefs.

I'm completely clueless on the subject of American football, but how many people are in a football team? Even if there's a 100 of them, eating 1000 burgers is 10 a piece.

Though, he does mention Hamberders, which may be an unknown, smaller type of burger. berder? wot?

Wow, that is a sight i never thought i would see. Junk food served in the white house. At least he didn't have to hire a clown for the event as they already had one.

I only arrived at the thread this morning, and searched back to see if someone else had asked the same...... like, wtf?!

I think it's part of his image.. a Fortune 500 CEO look or what he thinks they look like... In the 80s.

NCAA rules allow up to 105 players on a team's roster. You weren't far off!

I've been reading up on this for the last 10 minutes, with short bursts of hysterical giggling erupting from me, triggered by my finally broken brain.

Not really. You can get 4 chicken breasts for about $12, bag of spuds for $3.50 and the rest of a $20 could be spent on some veg on sale or you could go canned veg and get a tub of ice cream.
McDonalds for 4 will cost you about the same if you don't stick to the dollar menu.

People don't have a kitchen nor a supermarket nearby? You surely can buy some vegetables and other healthy stuff in every supermarket?

America never fails to surprise me.
It's a rubbish excuse. People that eat junk, just want to eat junk. You can make a healthy burger with lean mince from the supermarket for pretty much the same cost as a big mac. You could buy a whole fresh chicken for the price of a bucket of KFC wings.

I don't buy it at all.

Edit: Looks like @GiddyUp beat me to it.

There's also an economic component built into junk food and the obesity epidemic. Many people, especially those at the bottom of the economic spectrum, find it cheaper and more convenient to buy a cheeseburger off the dollar menu than buy a bunch of veg and cook it up at home. That tends to over time increase their chances of obesity and medical/health problems, which will likely over time keep them economically impoverished. Its less so a matter of pure laziness and moreso a matter of self-reinforcing convenience.

Yeah, that shite is addictive and there is definitely a vicious cycle the likes of McDonald's are happy to maintain. Some people have eaten junk their whole life and have no idea what real food tests like.

Their should be warning labels on McDonalds food like there is on cigarettes. On all fast food for that matter.

Warning: eating fast food will result in clogged up veins, obesity, diabetes and butt cleavage. Eat it in moderation.

Ah but the difference is convenience and time usually. The lowest income areas of a city lack the easy access to good supermarkets that middle class have and the lower income populations don't have as much access to cars.

When I lived in low income areas the pattern was basically the large discount supermarket chains (like a Foodmaxx or Walmart) on the biggest boulevard in the neighborhood but that could be 6-8 miles from some residential neighborhoods. What would be closer to many neighborhoods were smaller ethnic markets at best (usually Hispanic or/and Asian depending on the area) and tonnes of fast food.

Just to give an example. One apartment I lived in a dangerous neighborhood would have taken at least 10 minutes by car to get to a good supermarket whereas I could walk to get fast food within 5 minutes. There was a small Hispanic convenience store near the fast food but it didn't have anything like fresh produce and meat. More just canned goods and packaged food shipped from out of state.

Oh and there was no farmers market in this area unlike the middle class neighborhood that had cheap local grown produce at weekly farmers markets.

He will be hosting a lunch meeting with congressional leaders. Safe to say he will feed them the leftovers from that dinner.

A medium whopper menu with fries and drinks in Belgium costs 7€ each, cheeseburger with fries and a drink about 6€. That's 26€ or 30$. That's a massive price difference. You can easily find fresh ingredients for the same price.
