Cannot believe that the American public are not up in arms by now. Federal employees not paid for the last few weeks! Not going to receive back pay!

Their “toleration” level is frankly worrying. Time to grow some and tell both parties that they’re not putting up with this.

The benefit of being a capitalistic economy is that not a lot of people work for the federal government and therefore the common man doesn't relate to their misery until it directly effects them like delayed mortgage loans etc.

Don't they have decent unions at the States? Our country would come to a complete standstill when unions got involved in such a mess.

.

I read yesterday Trump signed a bill ensuring they will receive back pay. Not sure if that covers everyone affected though, and of course it doesn't make it right.

I agree with the rest of your post though. It's shocking people aren't kicking right off about it all.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. If the GOP wasn’t as far right as it is today, Schumer would be a Republican now. He’s a pre-Reagan era Republican.
That is why he needs to step aside. Dems have to start acting like a opposition party with bold ideas rather than a Republican lite.

Surely to goodness they can relate to what it would be like not to get paid. I’m not a federal employee but I sure as heck can relate to being expected to work and not get paid and have nothing coming in to pay bills etc. Are the US people that wrapped up in “self” that they don’t care about others.

The Republicans since Reagan have spent their entire existence dismantling unions.
Since Regan
Bush (republican) 4 years
Clinton (democrat) 8 years
Bush Jnr (republican) 8 years
Obama (democrat) 8 years
Trump (republican) 2 years

Republicans 14 years
Democrats 16 years

So yeah Im not sure you can blame one side for that - I think both have been happy to see their influence dwindle

Sure hope that’s correct about the pay. Mind you if they had stood up to this foolish no-pay shutdown policy in the first place years ago they wouldn’t be in this mess now. Dems should have put a policy in place to prevent people not being paid.

The general attitude towards the federal government and employees among the general public is that they are there because they lack ambition to be hustling in the private sector and most people are usually jealous of pensions and other benefits that government employees receive. There won't be the same kind of outrage until it hits them that things were moving smoothly because of the government and not despite them.

What kind of powers does a state of emergency give the President?

how long till he declares an emergency and uses the army to build a wall - Im guessing within a week

How is it both a Humanitarian crisis and an invasion? Whose lives are in peril for it to be a Humanitarian crisis? The immigrants or the citizens?

'Humanitarian crisis' might have swayed some to support the wall, but the Trump logic is all over the place.

Yep, i expected a sort of revolt. It's like most of them hate public employees and are happy with this situation.
