The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

The Dems don't have the balls to do it. Lack of leadership and a big conflict going on between the old and the new guard. The old guard cleary prefers to keep him in power because if he fell they wouldn't know what to do.

Its not about having balls. The Dems would be Stupid to impeach him. Let him and the Republicans destroy themselves.
All the Dems need to do is stay calm.

Pelosi may well become Speaker but she better be mindful of a the Democratic House that came in with hatred of Trump. It wont be business as usual.
She will have a lot to give to get votes.

How is impeachment a political suicide for Dems when the whole democratic base wants exactly that ? It's suicidal if they don't try to impeach him.

That would be a gift to the Republicans in 2020.
I don't see a Democratic base that is baying for impeachment. The base wants him to burn. Very different from getting him out of office with a pardon.

I wouldn't say that though. I don't think the Dems should focus on impeachment at all as I think it would be a complete waste of time and political capital. I don't think there is any chance the GOP Senate votes to impeach Trump. I think impeachment is just wasting too much of the airwaves just being "anti-Trump" instead of actually being for something meaningful that would help people for a change.

I want to see the Democrats start defining themselves on positive policies for the public not just constantly whining about Trump. I can't articulate how sick of the Dems defining themselves as the party of Not Trump (code for Republican Lite corporate policies) instead of the party For Universal Health and Getting Money Out of Politics I am.

The Dems hopefully have learnt from 2016.

You have to run For what people need.

It wouldn't be political suicide since it would mean they are getting rid of Trump, which is something the base and most of the country wants. Simply impeaching in the house without an ability to convict in the Senate however, might be a bit risky, which is why the Dems need to play it cool and allow Trump to continue to piss off as many Republican Senators as possible, which is already starting to happen with his sudden Syria withdrawal (and possibly Afghanistan as well) plans.

He needs to leave office ASAP, one way or the other. The longer he stays, the higher probability he comes completely off the hinges and adopts his understanding of a scorched earth approach, for which his executive power is more than sufficient.

I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst my friend.
Hope for nothing then you won’t be disappointed.

I wonder how an activist born in the 50/60s or so would think about his/her country. They went from Nixon to Reagan to W and Trump. It’s like a perverse game of dare when the GOP presidents progressively try to outdo his predecessor in the ‘being a destructive force to the planet’ category.

The main priority should be replacing him with a full mandate from the public in the next cycle. Replacing him with Pence for a few months and re-energizing other parts of the GOP in the lead-up to ‘20 accomplishes nothing.

It’s several orders of magnitude better to have a predictable establishment lame duck president in Pence , than the current narcissistic sociopath. Two years is a lot of time.

The GOP still needs Trump for its agenda so i don't think they are gonna destroy each other.

No expectations means you won't be disappointed.

No hope means a bleak and dire existence that I have no interest in.

I always have a lot of hope. I also try to never have expectations or attachment to outcomes to protect against disappointment.

It wouldn’t be 2 years. It would be 2 years minus 6+ months from the draft of impeachment letters minus an unknown number of months from now until this investigation culminates.

Better to have a dark cloud hanging over the GOP than give them a rallying cry and time to recover. Unless there’s a true smoking gun even POTUS’s worshippers have trouble swallowing...

Indeed, seems fairly self-evident at this point that the GOP aren't turning on Trump. He's given them plenty of opportunities to do so and yet they always ultimately comply. Economic agenda and self-enrichment above all else for them.

I don’t think GOP would impeach him in the Senate. But if the Mueller report is damning and they do nothing, that will be an inescapable talking point for 20.

That’s all well and good but keeping him in office is bad for the country, the people of that country and the rest of the world. Perhaps the Dems should realise that and stop thinking of themselves and whether or not it’s in their interests to impeach him or not. It’s serious stuff, it’s not a game. And 2 more years in office for Trump is one hell of a long time. Enough time for him to do irreversible damage. The man’s on the edge.

The dems can always fall back on 'we don't have the support of the repubs to impeach so it would be a huge waste of time and resources'.

Well yes, but impeaching himself isn't going to remove him from office because the Republicans won't go for it. Making it a largely meaningless gesture.

Well the Dems will just have to resort to kidnapping him then and not bother with the impeaching.
One way or another he’s gotta go. He’s destabilising the world.

Absolutely. Just pointing out that not impeaching him isn't the Dems looking towards self-preservation - just recognising it's a pointless gesture that won't actually remove him from office.

Serious question. Are there really people in the US that genuinely believe in what Trump is doing and don't see through all the crap he spouts from his horrible mouth every single day??

I can't get my head round the likes of Sarah Huckabee-Sanders and Kellyanne Conway that blatantly lie to defend this moron. Can't they see what he is doing (actually, rhetorical question - surely they must do) or are they in fear of losing their jobs if they confront him?

I would have thought that for the greater good of the country, they would make a stand?

Somebody help me out here.

Is he still in DC or fecked off to Florida already?
No, says he’s staying at the WH because of the shutdown. 12 tweets in the last 24 hours, including the usual personal and nasty ones. When he stops posting you’ll know he’s in Florida surrounded by his fawning GOP admirers and lapping it up. Right now he’s enjoying the power trip. Just wish he’d get carried away and sack himself.

Go on Fox News' Facebook page and look at the comments on there.

Some of them will be fake profiles/Russian trolls but in general yes, there are tonnes of people that believe in Trump and everything he says and does. They tried to crowdfund the wall, they go to his rallies, they're proud Republicans and they hate Obama, Democrats and 'the deep state'.

Fox, right wing radio stations and the rest that they consume in their echo chambers have solidified their views over the years and they'll never change, they're lost now.

The ones in his administration are just charlatans, they know it's all bullshit. So do the ones in the media that are shovelling out the rubbish that his fans consume, they all know it's rubbish but they get paid well to do so.

Exactly. Only if there were gonna be massive mass protests, a massive rebellion against Trump they might change their minds, otherwise not.

I get that his followers would be blinded by his rhetoric, but his administration?? When they can see that he is putting the security and stability of the country at risk and the economy etc. don't they have a responsibility and oath to protect the country from all threats domestic and foreign?

At least in the UK, many in the government can see where Brexit is heading and are openly challenging the PM at every turn. They would not blindly go along with her just for the sake of their own self-preservation. I just don't get where Huckabee-Sanders' head is at when she carries out those press conferences, knowing her boss is a moron and lying through his teeth.

I know a lot of his key players have resigned (or been charged with criminal activities) but surely somebody should call him out on his tweets, his scatter-gun policies and frankly un-presidential behaviour. He must be a major embarrassment to the GOP?

If Obama did 1/100th of what Trump has done, there would be a national outrage!

I think most if not all of his administration have been bought and they're all compromised, that's why they can't or won't do anything to curb what's happening, similarly the GOP is up to its nuts in it and many of them have been compromised hence they won't speak out. The only dissention comes from those that are simply abandoning their posts and don't care anymore what happens.

The reason why Mueller's investigation has to be so airtight and thorough is due to the sheer level of infiltration that's happened and how many people it's going to consume. The GOP went for broke on this at all costs and it's going to destroy them.

Watergate is going to look like child's play compared to this when it comes out. We might all be wishing for the end of Trump but if it plays out like it should then America (and by proxy the rest of the world) is in for a crisis the likes of which we've never seen.

He'll probably use Gatwick as an excuse not to go, damn foreigners rumble ramble.

But whilst we're at it, here are his best Sunday hits including his "best" (misspelt) words

I know it’s tiresome unpacking all the bullshit, but just to give some background to the ‘Big Deals’:
  1. Would have passed under Obama as it had widespread support. But McConnell wouldn’t let it get to the floor for a vote for the sole reason as to not allow Obama a legislative victory. It was basically the same bill now except for being weakened by changes from TX/OK Reps.
  2. They slipped a rule into the Farm Bill disallowing any actual Congressional action about Yemen temporarily aside from symbolic votes like what took place in the Senate. Because refueling support for Saudi air raids inflicting a famine was relevant to farming subsidies, I guess...

It's sad, disgraceful and alarming in equal measure. I can't wait for the Dems to take control of the House in Jan. If this fecking moron gets to 2020 in one piece, I will take my hat off to him. That's assuming the world hasn't gone to shit by then. I'm getting my popcorn ready for when Mueller ramps up his attention towards the crooked Trump family.
