The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

Safe from the parents of the babies, not the babies. The theory goes that illegal immigrants have babies. The babies automatically qualify for citizenship. While they're underage their parents can't be deported, even if caught. Because then the child would have to go into social care which is bad for the kid and costly for the state. Hence the term "Anchor Babies", while the parents keep having babies they can't be deported. And obviously we all know that all illegal immigrants are criminals and scum, so that's the circle closed.

Apart from Trump's bullshit, hateful rhetoric, how do American's feel about birthrights? Vast majority of countries don't offer it. It's called Jus Soli in Latin and it's only offered by a couple of countries outside of The Americas. It's not offered anywhere in Europe unconditionally for example.

EDIT: Jus Soli means "right of the land(soil)". There's also Jus Sanguinis, which is "right of the blood", means citizenship passing down by blood. Implemented by almost all countries. Meaning that the child can always take the citizenship of the parent regardless of the country the child is born in. Some countries have only Jus Sanguinis

It was a joke. A shit one....

Well I kinda knew it but I wanted to use it as a launchpad to explain a bit (for anyone that doesn't know) know where the rhetoric stems from.

I also wanted to see what people actually think on Jus Soli. I know anything Trump touches is immediately toxic, especially here on redstarcafe, but it's worth remembering that some of the most progressive and open countries don't have that policy in place. There's merit to discussing it, Trump and his rhetoric aside.

30 countries including the UK offer Birthright Citizenship.

Also it's not quite as easy as having an "Anchor Baby" the Parent still has to wait till i believe its either 18 or 21st Birthday before they can gain a Green Card through them and during that whole time they are technically deportable anyway (the theory Madmike suggested is down to courts/judges/ICE i guess) just because they had a baby doesnt mean they immediately gain residence.

The UK doesn't offer Jus Soli. It offers what's known as "restricted Jus Soli". At least one parent must be a legal, settled resident or British citizen.

And yeah one thing not being deported and a whole other thing having a Green Card. Parents of Anchor Babies tend to be caught in the middle where they can't be deported but they can't legally work from what I know. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this please.

Birth right citizenship is pretty much the only land of the free ish thing the states have left. Sounds about right if Trump kills it.

In Ireland we abolished it by referendum a few years back. I don't really see what the big deal is from over here, other than that it's Trump going for it. But perhaps I'm missing something peculiar to the American case.

What about the recent cases with kids born here up for deportation? The only life they know is being Irish.

It should be abolished. The 14th amendment was ratified when you could only come to the US via a ship. In this day and age it doesn’t make sense.

Of course the same applies to the 2nd amendment mind.

No one sprouted out of the earth in America other than the natives, that's why the constitution said as much.

Getting desperate?

This is third world country dictator levels of fear mongering propaganda. Can't we have a referendum to launch the states in to space? Time to secede em if you ask me.

Not the fact that these people are in charge is the problem, the fact they were elected and have support is what alarms me.

He's pulling out every trick he knows to scare his flock into voting because he knows he will be massively fecked if the Dems retake the house, as he wouldn't be able to pass any more of his agenda for the remaining two years and the Dems would restart all the investigations Nunes and friends squashed.

Just seen him at the rally the other night going on about not cancelling the event after the shooting, saying how his friend (can't remember his name) managed to get the NYSE open on 12 September 2001 and that you have to carry on.

So to justify not cancelling a rally he should have cancelled he lies about the events after 9/11.

cnut.

Sad thing is that humanity doesnt seem to learn from the past. How do these tactics still work this well? You'd hope that the increased availabilty of information through the internet would make us less susceptible to this type of propaganda, but it works as well today as it did in the 30s.

He couldn't get his friend's name right either, so I won't hold it against you.

To quote legendary blue collar comic Ron White, “you can’t fix stupid”

You cannot on one hand masturbate fervently whilst repeating the mantra that you're the greatest country in the world, that we should know it, that you're better than the rest of us and then on the other hand tell us that the things that make you different/more progressive should be reigned in in favour of being like all the other countries in the world. Pick one.

The world used to look up to America, now it either laughs at it or realises there's nothing really special about it at all compared to anyone else. Especially as you scramble to undo everything that made you great to begin with. It's like being proud of Moyes saying he aspires to be like City. A minute ago you were the greatest country in the world, now you aspire to be like the rest of us?

think he has given up on the house.

Its the governors and Senate seats.

You'd think given just how massive an event 9/11 was and just how hyper patriotic they all went straight after it, just one of the supporters might have a lightbulb moment and go 'wait a second' like that guy that was pictured behind him and then promptly escorted out but no, nothing. Something as completely simple as googling it and they won't even question what he says about 9/11. They're truly lost.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/The-Opportunity-Costs-of-Socialism.pdf

So according to this official report by the White House, the living standard in the US is at least 15% higher than those in the Scandinavian countries. And to a certain degree, even poor Americans have a better living standard than the average citizen in Denmark, Finland or Sweden. All these magnificent calculations have of course forgotten to take in to account things like health care and education, but nevermind that.

:lol: Well, i read that buying a pickup was a comparatively cheaper, so i guess thats it

Then at least they've got a way to get to doctor only to realize they can't afford it.

I read some polls yesterday and it looks it's gonna be tight in many states. That's the reason why he posts this video and abuses his opponents. He is asking his supporters to vote to stop the Dems.

I have never seen a president in the western world this desperate to inspire hate.
I'd love to see the Republican party's polling among independents. It has to be at an historic low. This man is the lowest of the low.

That's hilarious "i dont like you" at the end, she probably has no idea why she doesnt like him other than being fed a pack of lies by Herr Cheeto.

Remember the same thing when i asked my Mother why she was voting Trump and banged on about chain migration (which her own son i.e Me was going through that very process) Hillary, Fake news and when i laid down some proper facts she ran out of things to say beyond what has been told to her, it"s pure brainwashing.

Don't get distracted by stupid. You can't get through to them, they're willfully ignorant.

Need to win over everyone else, wasting time with morons like that is just hurting chances of getting out other voters.
