The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

I said this 2 days ago and I'll say it again, humanity is absolutely fecked, it's all going to be over soon and it makes me so depressed to think what future my sons will have. Everything I took for granted like fresh water through the taps, fruit and veg available every day of the year and not dying of the common cold. We've done this to ourselves and in the past 20 years I'd add done it knowingly. 150 years ladies and gentlemen, that's all its taken us to bring 1000s of years of humanity to the precipice.

Climate change was known about since the mid 1800s, or least the greenhouse effect was but it was initially predicted to be good for the climate as it would have meant longer summers and bigger yields. We've known about the negative effects since the 1950s/60s - a lot of the research was actually done by and suppressed by large oil companies, they were hoping to find something different but disliking the results they chose to sentence us to extinction instead. Al Gore's campaign was almost 20 years ago now, that's more or less the point where the entire world was warned and again, we chose extinction instead. It's difficult to know where the point of no return is but climate change will only be compounded in the future and there is a point where even if we completely stop using pollutants there is no hope. Runaway greenhouse effect is the worst case scenario, Earth turning into another Venus, but we're not there yet, human existence will probably be impossible before we kill the microbes.

Nah. The human is a wily little bastard. They will regroup after a good purge.

He definitely has nightmares where he's standing naked, surrounded by other world leaders as they laugh maniacally at his microcephallic penis.

Trump would (pretend to) believe Bart Simpson's denials.

Rebel yells erupt from the White House.

Trump is right on this, who actually gives a feck about Warren's DNA test? Are there actually people fist-pumping out there right now to discover that there's a strong possibility some really, really distant relative of hers had some native blood, just because they think it makes Trump look foolish? This is really really dumb.

Trump was the one who brought it up.

What exactly is he right about?

No he's really not right on it at all. He continually uses the Pocahontas insult to describe Senator Warren and he himself continually makes an issue out of it much the same as he did with Obama and the birther issue.

Trump himself mentions it AT EVERY SINGLE ONE of his rallies and he himself also promised to pay a charity of her choice $1 million dollars if she took a DNA test and it showed she had native American ancestry.

As for does anyone really care if she has that ancestry or not? no, I doubt anyone does at all, but that is not the issue here. The issue is Trump continually using it as a racial attack and the fact yet again he uses a racial attack on an opponent and that yet again he makes bets/promises that he then later denies despite there being video evidence of him saying so.

That was never going to happen if Warren were to run for President. Trump would simply bring it up like he did birtherism.

When you decide to engage Trump on an issue like this, you're doing it entirely on his terms, in the type of public discourse he is most comfortable in; indeed he thrives on minor controversies like this. Like he said, who cares? So Trump isn't going to pay up, so what? Did anyone think he meant it when he said it? Great gotcha! moment there. Is this the type of issue to fight him on?

I haven't been following but is this really that much of an issue out there? If it is then fair enough I get you, but to me it just sounds like some throw away "haha you're wrong", and then the world moves on...

I don't think the payment is the central issue. She is simply getting ahead of the ancestry story so that its her that is framing the narrative, which will then make it more difficult Trump to continue using the term and being taken seriously by independent voters.

It's not my choice to make. Personally I think he should be called out on everything but the sustained attacks should be on his climate change comments and law changes, kids in cages with yet more to be imprisoned, his tax evasion and his continued breaking of Presidential laws such as nepotism, conflicts of interest and his using the Presidency to further his own or his families private businesses and the ballooning deficit.

BUT! It's not me being attacked on a daily basis about something I have the ability to prove otherwise. So Warren produced her DNA results the same as Obama produced his birth certificate. I can't say I blame her tbh, especially if she plans to run for President or VP.

Yes I know. Which is why Warron should have just ignored the entire issue.

You mean like Obama did about his birth certificate? That worked out well for the Kenyan Muslim who plotted 9/11 . Trump still bangs on about that. And the point isnt that warren is, its that he once again said something stupid and is being called out on it.

if warren wants to be president she needs to start going around the country giving the speeches she was giving a decade ago, not get involved in a misguided attempt to debate trumps talking points

there's no "ha, gotcha" moment with trump, he doesn't care and more importantly his voters know that he's a bullshit artist and they are fine with it, there's nothing that's going to make them think "oh, no, that's too much" or "good argument sis, you've won me over" if they're okay with toddlers in cages

She's actually made herself look weak, first by feeling the need to respond to the idiot's jibes, and then by trying to pass off the results of her DNA test either as somehow meaningful (apparently they're not - see the Cherokee statement above), or as a gotcha! moment about which Trump, his fans, and let's face it anyone still on undecided about Trump, couldn't give less than two fecks.

That statement should come in handy for Trump when the real mud starts slinging though, good job Warren.

This is hilarious. If getting a DNA test to disprove what someone says about your ancestry discounts you from ever having a chance of becoming president or getting one over on Trump then America is more fecked than I previously thought.... It shouldn't even be news. Trump is your president! Clearly anything goes right now...

The Cherokee statement talks about citizenship rights which is completely different from what Warren is claiming, which is simply that she has a native american blood relative, which the test clearly shows.

She was wise to come out ahead of the story by putting something concrete into the media space so that all subsequent attempts by Trump or anyone else to question it would simply be referred to the hard science.

if this last week has shown anything it's that no one gives a shit about science, if people don't care that we've got about a decade to save the planet they're really not going to give a shit about someones dna test

I'm sure Trump fans will keep talking about it just as they continue to chant lock her up about Hillary today. The media however, won't be taking Trump's claim with any degree of legitimacy given that it has already been addressed before the campaign even began.

the media was talking about obamas birthplace 2 weeks before the 2016 election - they will parrot every single thing that trump says because it has made them a lot of money over the last 3 years and obama didn't have the state of hawaii shit all over the legitimacy of birth certificates

Obama produced his birth certificate. Trump was subsequently elected President. What is the lesson here?

He wasn't running against Trump, so there is no lesson. He produced his certificate well after Trump challenged him to which would suggest the situations aren't particularly analogous other than the fact that Warren is running for President and wants to starve Trump of the media oxygen about her heritage.
