The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

The not paying attention is a huge part of it imho. It's the reason he was able to win because if more had paid attention to all the crap he said during the primaries etc he would have had no chance - and also the reason his disapproval ratings don't get as bad as you might expect. I believe most folks don't start paying attention to politics until the economy tanks or something controversial gets rolled out that falls directly along party lines, and in addition is given a lot of press. Problem is that Donnie obviously keeps the press busy enough for few of the controversial things to actually stick.

I work with several folks that absolutely despise the Don but when I asked them whether them about arguably the most damning week of his presidency none really knew what was going on. Frustrating and mind boggling.

They actually did. They either agreed with it or were simply saying "He doesn't mean that literally." Or "It's just rhetoric to trigger liberals, he would never really do this." This cult following will find a way to justify anything he says or does, it's not surprising the majority of them are evangelical Christians. They are well trained in the mental gymnastics needed to accept even the vilest acts and find a way to praise them.

Now people ready to go to Civil War.
We can't put up with this. It's about time for the normal people to rise up and vote this family out.

Have you seen the average Trump supporter? I don’t think many people are shitting it over a rebellion by 70 year old, 300 pound rednecks.

Lol at this talk of civil unrest and these MAGA-heads taking up arms.

The national guard will silence those supersized neckbeards the second they get cute and try to play armed militia with the central government.

I think y'all underestimate them. Again.

How many gun toting morons would it take for you to take it seriously? How hard is it to round a bunch of people up for a cause regardless of how legitimate that cause may seem? What's the point of pointing to the overweight, overaged cowards as if those are the people we are referring to?

re UC Berkeley: it's a state Uni and has mostly fixed prices, like all the other state univs in CA. That's why it's so much less expensive that the private schools (Stanford, Harvard, etc).
Last I checked a bachelor's degree tuition & fees (excl room & board) was approx $17.5K/year for a California resident.
It's approx $47K/yr for students from out of state.

47k/year???

Some guy yesterday and I couldn't get my phone out fast enough to snap a picture had guns all over his truck. With a big MAGA on the back window. He wasn't 70 or 300 pounds.

I saw a truck the other day with the Flo Grown sticker on it, but the Florida shape was a gun. And the rest of the MAGA/NRA stickers too.

Sure they exist, but when you watch the crowds at Trumps rallies, they're predominantly white pensioners. You can also safely assume that the vast majority of people will not 'take up arms!' for this or any other cause, because they know perfectly well that going to jail or getting shot isn't something they want to do, even if they do love them some Trump.

Worst case scenario you get some random shootings and a few small groups trying some dumb shit. Which to be fair you get most days of the week somewhere in America anyway.

Nevermind the National Guard, a couple if former SF guys who are motivated by money could clean out these so called militias.

The FBI couldn't even reclaim a fecking farm occupied by a handful of chewing tobacco spitting inbred feckwits. I agree with @afrocentricity, it will get ugly real fast.
Most of these people are a bunch of punks. They will yell, spam social media, make threats, put more stickers on their trucks, buy more US flags. But riot up in arms? Doubt it. Worst that happens is another incident where one asshole does something stupid and kills someone like what happened in Charlottesville.

Illegal or just unethical?

Definitely unethical and possibly illegal (self-dealing) - as in, he is misusing his position of public trust to personally interfere in a matter because it would undercut his ability to enrich himself (or his family) by way of the Trump International hotel not having to deal with the eyesore of a nearby construction site that may turn off wealthy patrons from staying there.

That's what I'm talking about tho. Any life potentially lost at the hands of a reactionary Trump supporter is too many. The level of potential unrest is not negligible imo.

You mean Ruby Ridge @langster ?

The Fed's weren't prepared for that operation, or anything like it but have put a lot of work into learning from it since. There's a reason nothing like that had happened since.

What's the alternative? Don't hold the president accountable for his crimes? Just give in to whatever his more rabid supporters threaten?

 Such a fecking dumbass.

It couldn’t be more obvious that he has never done a minute of work at that desk. Even pics of him ‘working’ there show no evidence - no papers etc. Now he can’t even use the phone on his desk.

Even if this would have been Obama ,he would have found a way to make it funny . Trump just looks like the clown that he is.
He absolutely does - although you know he was seething inside and feeling embarrassed as to how he looked.

Not a huge thing, but a thing that I enjoy.

I've actually started winding ALF up by posting photos of Trump pretending to be President.

No. I'm just not into downplaying this aspect of the eventual aftermath of this shambles.

Surprise, surprise:

Trump’s crazed rant against Google was inspired by a Fox interview with YouTube stars ‘Diamond & Silk’

President Donald Trump on Tuesday angrily attacked Google News for allegedly showing only negative stories about him and his administration.

“Google search results for ‘Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media,” the president wrote. “In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent.”

The president went on to vow he would take action to stop this alled biast:

“Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out,” he said. “96% of results on ‘Trump News’ are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous. Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!”

Media Matters’ Matthew Gertz did some detective work and found the origin of Trump’s rant: A Fox Business interview that aired on Monday night with Trump-loving YouTube celebrities Diamond and Silk.

As noted by Gertz, the two social media stars told Fox’s Lou Dobbs on Monday that Google News’ alleged bias against Trump was “tyranny” and “a form of political lynching.”

At one point in the interview, Lynnette Hardaway — a.k.a., “Diamond” — told Dobbs that “somebody’s going to have to step in and take a look at this here.” Trump echoed this in his tweets by writing, “This is a very serious situation — will be addressed!”
