I thinking it's a generational thing. My gen and the gens below me are more up to par on stuff and not bogged down with bullshit dogma and whatnot. I hope the officers leading the generations below me are as open minded and accepting as the enlisted folks I'm seeing enter and climb the ladder.
The older gens before me are stuck in their ways and seem unwavering in their devotion to a political party, religious affiliation, etc. Most of these fecker are retired/near retirement, thankfully.

Visited my aunt in Granbury, TX, last week and noticed a few flags in trucks around town. My aunt said it's more common there these days. She then went on a slight rant about the statues and all and I had to remind her confederates were traitors to our republic.
