In fairness it was hardly just Trump that treated him like a punching bag. He was called Satan, worse than Satan and a fair assassination target by three prominent Republicans all on the same day just over a year ago. He'd have to quit the Senate entirely to get away from that kind of environment. Why do people hate him so much anyway? There's loads of repugnant senators. What puts him next level?

I don’t particularly hate him more or less than any other buffoon there, its just every time i see him fall over himself to be as servile as possible when it comes to Trump, or when i read his blurb that he wrote for Time magazines top 100 most influential people, i just question the man as a human being. I get the they're all playing one big fecking game, but for christ sake have a scintilla of dignity about you. Suppose that could be attributed to many there, tbh.

But there’s something particularly repulsive about Cruz, i suppose.

Yep. Flood the zone with a myriad of pardons, what’s one or two more going to matter?

Pardoning Blagojevich, though, that’s a tough one to swallow even if he is a Democrat.
 
The specific crimes they committed are all also exactly what those close to Trump are currently in trouble for or would be in trouble for - campaign finance violations, corruption, lying to the FBI.

If he tweets about the amount it will be met with an amount of how much it costs to transport him to all the golf courses he's spent 1/4th of his time as President at, including all the overtime pay for the secret service and local cops. Also the flats at Trump Tower the secret service had to lease.

Won't matter, he has a "big" dollar amount he can point to and he will.

He's essentially been immune to the impact we expect out of facts and reason from day 1.
 
Is there even a way back for America at this point? The president is using the power pardon like a kid throwing out candy, he’s managed to convince huge numbers of Americans that the Mueller investigation is a witch hunt. How does this end well? It feels like Mueller could lay out a cast iron case right now and enough Americans wouldn’t give a damn.

Unfortunately, our history with terrible presidents is punctuated by terrible things happening after them...

Pierce & Buchanan -> Civil War
Hoover -> Great Depression
Ford & Carter -> Economic stagnation

I always cringe when I see science teachers with degrees from places like that. We’ve got a university nearby here whose Biology department uses creationism as part of the curriculum. To this day I don’t see how they’re accredited.
