Zakaria was the editor of Foreign Affairs throughout the 1990s and his theories on illiberal democracy were extremely influential in international affairs circles in the early 2000s. For anyone studying international relations or politics on any level Zakaria is pretty much required reading. Even if you disagree with him, you need to account for his arguments to be taken seriously. Just like Samuel Huntington. You don't have to agree but you have to know his theories.

This would depend if one attended a US University or not. The likes of Zakaria and Huntington are more relevant in positivist IR circles (the US) and generally less relevant and somewhat ignored in interpretavist circles (Europe) where topics are generally divided among realism, liberalism, constructivism, Marxism, and feminism (the latter two being more archaic these days).

Yeah, that makes sense. Like philosophy departments, I'd guess the UK then is closer to the US positivist thought?
 
I dont think they've been forthcoming with the reason for her hospital stay.

At the time, Sanjay Gupta noted that it was unusual she was spending the rest of the week at the hospital to recover despite the fact patients who undergo that type of operation tend to be discharged on the same day or the next day.

I saw that as well. It could also be a perfect excuse for her to reduce her public appearances and first lady obligations which she obviously hates. She was never adequately prepared (or suited) for this role. That marriage appears to be on the rocks. Hope she's in fine health though.
