This is just a casual interpretation of the demands he made of Rosenstein who then pushed it to the IG. Complying isn’t really the best interpretation IMO as Rosenstein basically just opened a can of worms for Trump at Trump’s own request.
It’s a bit of a “careful what you wish for” scenario. A lot of people are reading Rosenstein’s action as a move of absolute confidence and predicting that rather than the FBI “planting these informants” to disrupt the Trump campaign and bring it down from the inside in a purely political and illegal move like the narrative Trump and co are pushing, it’s much more likely that members of the Trump campaign were whistle blowers and that’s what started the investigation.
By complying and pushing it to the IG, he made it very difficult for Trump to pull the plug without waiting for the report. Once the report is produced, if it’s as suspected, it will make it nigh on impossible for him to pull the plug without it constituting obstruction of justice as it will show the whole thing to be absolutely legal, necessary and prove that Trump’s bleating “witch hunt” is complete bollocks.
In short, Rosenstein called his bluff and it could prove to be Trump’s worst move yet.
It sounds like he is trying to stop the investigation.
