The Trump Presidency | Biden Inaugurated

But does it matter that this story is made up when his actual message is he wants to act like that in real life?

Footage from the 2016 rally where he promoted the Pershing legend and declared it exemplary:

While nothing should surprise me about this man anymore, I'm sometimes still baffled how much of a monster he is. And that so many people support him for exactly this reason, just like those cheering in this video.

Who was carrying four guns in Charlottesville.

Yeah, that's not a recipe for disaster. Look at how he copes with a bit of pressure, then think about him having FOUR guns on him when something does not go his way.

American gun laws will never, ever make sense to me.

Is there a video of his original appearance on CNN?

Kids ask if I heard what he said, I then produce evidence to the contrary of what he said, kids look on in bewilderment that their Cheeto Jeezuz is stupid. Cognitive dissonance sets in for the majority. A few see the light.

I thought at that age, their brains are like a sponge?

Bob Corker as said Trump as hasn't shown competence needed. Personally i think he is beyond repair now. Trump is only six senates away from a Impeachment

The current stock of Republicans are either silent or will criticise but will still in majority vote lock stock with Trump. They made a Faustian bargain and are willing to see through it.

Strange. Maybe they are more interested in social media and circle jerking off affirmative messages rather than challenging ideas or propositions.
Yeah they're different. A lot of them find Trump's form of bullying attractive and funny.

Hyper conservative "Christianity" and racism is indoctrinated pretty extensively in the rural south.

You have quite the uphill battle to try and make a difference there.

Let us know when you've actually put together an argument for Bernie being the better candidate.

Hillary only managed so many votes because the other option was Trump.

Just being Hillary Clinton is enough of an argument for Bernie being a better candidate. Impossibly unlikeable, untrustworthy, elitist and dogged by the reputation of her running the show in D.C. and being public face of 'the deep state' whether it's actually true or not.

They'd have had more luck literally promoting a turd sandwich as a candidate than Hillary. Nobody likes her.

Trump will see out his 4 years, his core support will never leave him, i have the displeasure of having friends in New Orleans who practically spin everything he says including the "grab them by the pussy" comment, they basically spun it as - he meant grab life by the pussy, not women.... i mean come on, the dude can literally kill a baby on tele and spin it as he just killed the spawn of Damien.

I guess 'the pussy' gives us life...

The polls honestly were baffling. No one not even the candidates saw the outcome. So we need to ignore that.
The millions more votes was a combination of getting votes in primaries in Southern states she would never have won. So needs to be discounted. Also DNC tricks and underhand tactics, kicking many thousands of the electroll rolls in NY was a factor. The warning signs the DNC ignored were her losing to Bernie in the Midwest states of MN, WI and MI.

The key difference between Bernie and Obama...Bernie is white.
Sadly that remains a factor.
And Bernie was for issues that had general support like Education and Universal Health Care.
You can't have it both ways, by you logic the DNC should not even bother with primaries in southern states as she'd never win, at the same time, she'd win NY even if she shot someone on 5th avenue.

So they should only run primaries in battle ground states?

Nine years ago, when she lost the primary to a junior senator from Illinois? Because otherwise I'm not following your train of logic here.

If you followed the elections, Trump narrowly won the rust belt. I don't see Sander losing that battle in that region, not with the crowds he pulled, and his platform. His effectiveness as a president is another question entirely, but if your only fall back is the banks' support of Hillary and her popular vote win, then you're scraping the bottom of the barrel.
By that logic, the DNC should only run primaries in battle grounds in the future.

Predictable. Assange has obviously been using GRU information to help Trump in the hopes that his election would result in Assange getting a get out of jail card from the new administration.

The RCP polling average on Nov 8 was Clinton +3, the result was Clinton +2. Bernie quit in June with an average +10. (at the same time, HRC was +5).
You can speculate all you like, but you cannot say that the facts support your hypothesis- they don't. Neither the H2H polling nor the popularity nor the popularity among independetns nor the voter enthusiasm or reasons for voting, support the idea of HRC being a better candidate. In fact, Bernie was doing better vs Republicans than HRC, especially among independents, since about September 2015, when he had almost no name recognition, and his leads increased from that point. Edit: actual elections - the Democratic primaries - also showed this, since Bernie always won a higher share of independents in open primaries.

Subjectively for me, it's not just the fact that he had leads, it was the humongous nature of those leads.

Also for @NotworkSte
For Brexit/Uk2015/Uk2017 - UK polls have been off in all 3, while nationwide US polling hasn't.

*some of these numbers are from memory and may be off by a percent point or 2.
So your solution would be for the DNC to ignore their own primary results and give Bernie the nomination based on polls?

The discussion was about if Bernie would win, and if Hillary was a better candidate.
She was a worse candidate on virtually every metric possible, which is something that needs to be acknowledged for the Democrats heading into 2018 and 2020 - why she lost to the most unpopular candidate in history, what the Dems should do to win House seats and the presidency.

No, the discussion was how the DNC could have nominated Bernie in any circumstance given Hillary getting millions more votes. The fact of the matter is, everyone thought Hillary would win and the DNC would have preferred having President Clinton.

Nice, I just finished reading that, great article, as was the one you posted earlier about a Trump voter regretting their choice.

It's really quite sad that so many people are buying in to the Fake News narrative, and that that is being spread so effectively by Trump, because people are missing out on some outstanding journalism. So many excellent articles being written and published, and many great investigative stories coming out too. It must be disheartening for such fine work that often takes months to get right, is so easily dismissed as Fake. Something needs to be done, I just can't for the life of me think what. A certain percentage of the world now (not just the USA) sincerely believes everything on certain channels, or in certain publications, is Fake News. It's disheartening to say the least. I have nothing but admiration and respect for those that work hard to continue to get the truth out there.

This is just absolutely disgusting. I honestly feel that a war is on the way, seriously. They are clearly of the mind it's them against the rest of us and so many angry people feeling legitimised by Trump now. I fear this isn't going to end well at all. All eyes need to be on the next rally, and hopefully it is policed properly and nobody gets hurt.

The fact of the matter is, everyone thought Hillary would win and the DNC would have preferred having President Clinton.

Not everyone thought that. Many of us spent the previously year warning that Hillary was the one candidate who ran a serious risk of losing. Her negatives were a giant flashing neon warning sign that anyone who bothered to look should have run screaming away from. Her lack of charisma as a public speaker and inability to connect with normal voters was terrifying. Her trailer full of baggage and raft full of (often but obviously not always) self inflicted political wounds was an incredible risk to take when running for that job. Even the decades long hate campaign run by the Republicans which was often deeply dishonest, misognystic and completely unfair raised the very important question of whether starting out with that mountain to climb was a reasonable price to pay to give her another shot at the Presidency.

I want to blame the DNC for their wholehearted support of her candidacy, but in fairness to them the Clinton political machine was incredibly powerful and she'd been building that consensus ready for this run since 2008. There probably wasn't anything barring ill health that would have come between her and the nomination this time, yet even then she almost fecked it up by once again being a terrible candidate in the primaries.

Trump's ghost writer reckons he's gonna quit, so do I.

If he resigns though he'll be far more vulnerable to a legal prosecution, no? There'd be no impeachment process, no chance of a pardon from Pence would there?
