I find him a bit smug, and a little up his own arse but he's just about funny enough to get away with it I think.
The GOP enabling Trump is akin to a human walking around with a penis attached to his forehead. They know it, everyone sees how ridiculous it is and everyone's waiting to see how long they can continue to embarrass themselves before they rid themselves of it.

I used to watch him quite a lot but the last few years you can almost watch two different episodes thinking it was one. Bill loves weeds, Bill had a show called Politically Incorrect, Bill is a straight shooting atheist, Bill sees this, Bill knows that. Throw in the obligatory right winger whose job is to rile the other panelists up.
For an hour long show it's really lacking in substance. Sam Bee and John Oliver behind the goofyness manage to tackle contemporary issues much better, and without the self aggrandisement.
See, I like John Oliver but find him to be just as smug and up his arse as Maher is. Well, maybe not quite as much but still notably so. Doesn't stop me liking either of them though since they're both good at what they do.
Oliver plays up the silly Englishman angle to please his American audience, that's his comedic schtick, as is getting into e-war with influential people. He doesnt seek vindication for his every belief, word or action like Maher does.
The most telling sign about a man and his ego is how often he uses the word 'I' in communication. Watch Maher with that in mind next time.
Even when he was doing satire over here I found him smug. I think that's more his general manner rather than an act he puts on specifically for Americans.
What are you on about dude? Milo came to the show and made a fool of himself....all by his lonesome; he didn't need Bill Maher to do that. And if you've been listening to Maher for a very long time you'd know he does have a problem with all religions. He just makes it clear that most terrorists are indeed Muslim and there's no sense to sugar coat that fact. He get's quite annoyed at making false equivalences to Islam and other religions when it comes to performing acts of terrorism.

The show claims itself 'Focal Point on American Family Radio's Talk Network is the home of muscular Christianity' of which I have zero clue what muscular Christianity means. This asshat (Fischer if you're scoring at home) spends his day spouting vitriol towards left/Democrats/progressives. How Christian of him.

It's a sad (probable) truth that Trump was too busy watching the PGA Championship finale to take much interest in events in Charlottesville.
So basically, idiots like Fischer want their belief to prevail over all others as if they have some kind of superiority complex, possibly as chosen by their god.

It's disgusting how transparent he is, but even worse is how he just gets away with it all the time. Anyone else would be crucified for things like this, but he just ignores it and it goes away in a day or two, not because people forget but because he does something else, usually worse. Bill Maher was right, he has made a reality show out of the Presidency. It's just a game and people tune in each day to see what else is going to happen, who he's going to fire, who he's slagging off, who he's threatening. He really has made the most important and powerful job in the world the equivalent of nothing more than an extension of his TV show The Apprentice.
